 this is a good thread :D but most of the link's don't work to different reverse scoop's , there's a company in the UK already doing 2 style's of reverse scoop's ,97>00 original and aqua style , also they are doing 2 version's for the early 93>97 scooby classic which no other company does, :D :D
auto-x gurus: Can you put these on an sm car, or would this push you up to Modified?
Edit: From what I gather, you can change the front and rear bumpers, front fenders, and side skirts all you like. I guess the question is can you change the quarter panels? You're allowed to change parts to accomodate allowed modificaitons, so if you need wider fenders in the rear to accomodate wider tires/wheels, and it isn't a great weight savings over the stock panels (is it?) then you can do it, right?
I don't think they can be considered flares which are SM legal. So it's a question of local or national events? In your local area you can talk to your competitors who most likely won't care. At a national event you might get protested.

I'm still here. My modem has been dying for the past week or so and it loses it's connection if it's idle for a couple of minutes. Anyway, I should have a new one up tonight and the website will be back up. Oh, and I had a hard disk crash too and lost my e-mails, so if you haven't gotten a reply lately, please re-send.
My full time employee, David just started a new job last week so I'm back to being a one man show for the time being. I end up working late, so if you want to ask about the body kit, please give a call in the evening.
Thanks,
Steve
PS. The kit is still happening, just slowly.

Just looking for an update on the sedan GC8 kit.
| projectrally | 04-13-2005 10:24 PM |
Steve, are the front and rear bumpers you're including with the kit any wider than normal? I ask because as much as I love the kit, I've always liked the RS/ver6 style front bumper better than the 22b (a matter of preference, please no flames). Just hoping when the kit's finally available and I buy one if i'll be able to keep my front bumper. Thanks,
adam

By the way what are the large holes gonna be filled with, black mesh??, or some mesh stuff, or are u making a special mesh mold that is kinda like the mesh grille for GC8, also are they gonna be that big, cause if they are that is super dope!!!!! Also is that kit actually wider than a real 22b fender cause they seem hella wide? How wide a tire will I be able put into those wheel wells. Also what kinda wing you thinkin about making??

You can only get replacement 22B stuff from subaru if you have a VIN #, and even then would cost you 10 grand. 3500 for custom carbon fiber body kit is a good price. Trust me, Look around at the prices of custom fiber peices and you will find out very quickly how expensive it can get. by the way it is 3500 USD for the coupe and 3750 for the sedan.

whoa there peaches, simmer down just a little...
I'm as excited about this kit as the next guy, and plenty impressed with Steve's project, and his polite and usually prompt responses to any questions I've had for him. I'm merely voicing my own frustration with the fact that this project seems less and less hopeful as time passes. Seriously. Go back and read the posts in this thread from a year ago. Now go back to two years ago. Same people saying the same excited "hooray, it's almost here" crap that we're all still saying.
It's a side project for Steve. That I understand. So it'll happen when it happens. But don't you ever get the feeling that we're chasing Nessie? It's that mythical kit, that subaru 22b look alike that everyone under the subaru stars seems to know about, and everyone will point out steve's involvement, but nobody's actually ever seen on a car. Seriously, man, I just get the feeling that this thing's going to be the next great unicorn.
That said, I really hope Steve finishes the kit and starts selling them. I'll gladly eat my words and pony up the cash for the kit. Now, as for the rude comments, grow up, man. There's no need for it here or anywhere.

I just spoke to Steve last night and the fact of the matter is that in his current shop there is not enough room to complete his shop work and do the carbon bits. So he is looking to buy a bigger shop that way he can do both. The molds are done. He just has to start making the peices. as for the sedan kit it will still be a little while.

I've seen the kit on a car. ;) Steve owns an RS that hasn't been on the road in like 3 years because he took it out of service to build the mockup. No it isnt a finished product, but it sure looks the business.

stever started taking orders 4 years ago but I don't think he took any deposits. I'm willing to hang in for a little while longer. As a fellow business owner, I understand the headaches that come with running a business solo. It's been 3 years since I finished residency and I'm still in huge debt over my head. My wife is the bread winner and we're still driving her 98 Toyota Camry. If my wife can hold on and have faith in me, then I guess I can have faith in stever.

Aerosim is a very cool/friendly/knowlegeable shop
The thing is, Steve is always swamped with Subaru owners taking their cars in for installs. repairs, troubleshooting.
Steve does STI to GC full drivetrain/interior/electronics swaps, 2.5L WRX bottom ends, build motors (he's doing my engine : forged internals, cams, DPR heads) - nice work too!
I guess he's got to pay the bills too so the widebody is on hold but not a cancelled project
He just took delivery of a Prodrive engine mounting bracket (it's supposed to lower and move engine back a few inches)
It's a pity he can't find the time to finish his car , because the body is very nearly finished. All he needs to do is install the engine, interior and take the car to the body shop for paint work !
as Dead-eye says, you guys need to understand that Steve has bills to pay, a business to keep afloat, and alot of customers like me to keep happy. And if you knew Steve you would see that he takes the utmost pride in the work that he does and he truly gets alot of joy in helping WRX owners keep their cars rolling and helping them with any problem or installation.
I really hope that 22B replica comes to life soon...
