I'm 26, I have a wife, a kid, and a dog, and I own a home. I have $100 a month to allocate to my car budget. When you have all those things to pay for, you can lecture me on saving for frivolous things.
BTW if you do live at home, get yourself a budget and save what you can. You only get poorer as life goes on.

thats why i live with the rents man, trying to get the acct. as big as possible, and no lecture towards u since i was not situated with ur life. and as to my comment, i was merely stating if u were of my age or whatever. u should be doing well. but with a wife(congrats. even thouigh idk when u married, just alot of ppl are getting married on my side of town so, congrats again) a dog and kid, 100 is more then enough. thats good that u have that and to be honest. i think thats pretty good that u have that cash to actually put on a car with the things u have.

Tell me about it. I'm 20 and got a Roth IRA... and suddenly, I have no more modding money! What the ****!
At least I'll have a 20:1 return when I retire. Maybe then I'll have modding money. Suh-weet.

That's the right way to do it Capt. It's so hard to avoid the temptation of just throwing all your money into your car, but you will see a much greater return when your older if your patient. I just look at it like that money(IRA) is gone and I feel better and when Im an old fart you'll be able to afford what you really want..

Thanks, it's very nice to move on to this stage in life, but at the same time, I miss the money I had in college. When I was in college I didn't have to pay for school, dorms, or food (it was a military academy) and I pulled in a $6-700-a-month paycheck. Although I had to buy books every semester, besides a cell phone I really had nothing that I HAD to spend it on (car payments were deferred), and yet it was always gone. I ate out time after time when I could have had free chow hall food.

I talked to Steve back in May. I informed hime of my plans, and hopefully when he has a kit complete, I will be ready. I plan on doing this around March 2006. My Uncle Steve will do the body work, then the complete car will get sent out to Steve Ramm to hopefully have a 2005 STi conversion...
Crap, I spilled the beans about my "secret plans." Guess I couldn't resist.
For those interested, here's the link to my Uncle's site: www.creations-unlimited-inc.com

Stay on track with the IRA. I wish I had your discipline. I blew a lot of money on comics in college when I was twenty-four (cashed out my mutual fund) and cried when my comics lost %75 of their value the following year and my mutual fund share price increased by %75. When I was a resident making a steady but pitiful income, I blew more money on my car even though I should've put it towards retirement and savings. I wasn't able to invest in a lot of good stocks and missed out on making a lot of money, not to mention being able to buy a house sooner and take advantage of the housing market.

So what's the deal with this kit? Has it made any progress since 04? I'm really excited. Plus, on the site it says the front and rear bumpers are included. I'm glad because I have tried and can't find these.. MRT performance sells them i think but I dont know how much and I don't want to ship it from overseas. Now the only thing i gotta find is the 22b wrc replica wing, and I'm set... Oh and this kit needs to be available. I can only imagine what a process this is for steve, and if were all patient i'm sure the end product will be amazing. Good Luck to steve and I hope you can give us an update soon....

Update! I spoke with Steve last night. He is going to higher someone to work specificaly on the carbon stuff, and they will be starting after the first of the year. Steve has been to busy with the rest of his shop work to do it himself. He has got to pay his bills first ya know.

stever has to make his money back on his investment so I'm sure he'll sell as many as he can (I plan on buying 2 in case I wreck it). The cost of the kit plus painting would be prohibitive for most so I don't think we'll be seeing too many out there. Anyways, how many GC8/GM6's do you see on any given day?

Do you 02+ guys really NEED a widebody kit? I mean you can already fit massive wheels and tires on your cars! Us GC folks can scarcely fit more than a 215, a 225 if we're lucky. That is the #1 biggest drawback to the GC IMHO.

Doesn't Bozz run 245's on their time attack car with small wheel flares? But yea, in the end GC's not so much with the wide tire, and nobody has come through with a wide body that worth a crap. :(

Here is some info about that. The molds are done and ready to be filled with Carbon fiber. Currently, Steve at aerosim has been really busy with motor swaps and blown blocks so its taking a while. Fortunatley, he currently got some help from some guys that are going to do the performance parts side of Aerosim research. aerosimperformance.com has only been up for a couple days and is currently being constructed. We have some issues with shopping cart stuff so it will be soon. Again, the molds are done, they just need someone to do the carbon fiber in which they are looking into different companies for that job.

I hope.

We are looking into a few companies to lay the carbon. The Molds are done, but if you know Steve, he is all about quality and he will not have just anyone lay the carbon for him. There are 2 companies that we are looking into. Herr Vonster and another company that does custom CF bits.
The Carbon Fiber widebody will come!
Thank you for your patience.
