No one is selling anything only gauging interest:......
so this is the response that i recieved:
Hello Gabe.
Thanks for your email. The original group buy was to have the mold made. I did not make a single dime on that group buy. If there is to be another, I want to finally make a little money, so the prices will be slightly higher. I would like at least ten orders at once, and the prices will be $99.00 for the standard cut pile and $139.00 for the Essex carpet. Shipping is additional and will vary according to destination and weight. You're in charge. Let me know when you have at least ten orders and I will get involved at that point. Credit cards are OK. We take Visa, MasterCard, and Discover. Keep me posted on your progress. If anyone needs samples of a particular color, have them email their request to [emailprotected] We will get the samples sent out within 24 hours. There are color choices on the web site. Please use the ACS colors. Good
luck.
Best Regards,
Ron

Couple questions..
How is fitment like on this carpet kit?
How long is installation?
Can I come to Vancouver, WA to pickup and get it installed as well?

Can't do it now, but I wanted one of these carpets back when I had money, never mind now, so when I have money again, I'm in.
Gotta love decisiveness, eh? ;)

Gotta warn you--installation is not trivial. I got the better quality, thicker version and had a lot of problems fitting trim, etc. due to the thickness. This is not a "kit" where it just drops into place. The carpet is molded into vaguely the same shape as the floor, but it is oversize and there are no holes cut in it. Also, the plastic moldings that the stock carpet has attached to it to hold it in sensitive areas (like the door sills) are missing.
You'll end up getting stinky, sticky carpet adhesive all over the place. Why? Because the factory clips that fit perfectly on the stock carpet will either break when you remove them, or you won't be able to match them up with their holes, or the new carpet will be thicker than they're designed for. Oh, and don't make the mistake of laying the old carpet on top and cutting holes to match, or you'll be waaay off. :(
In short, plan on a good long day to do it in your driveway, with plenty of trial fitting, cursing and frustration. Paying an upholstery shop a couple of hundred bucks would be a bargain!

ok yeah true it may be a pain if you havent done it before. easier way would ahve been to place the bolts in their right places and leave them raised..then lay the carpet over and position it then with a razor make an X over the top of the bolt , the bolt comes out and you have your holes. and i can see where the Essex (the thicker ) your goin to have problems cause well its thicker. but his points are valid for his situation

bump, anybody else? Surely someone's carpet right now is like paper thin!!! My carpet actually has a big hole in it right now :( Subaru OEM carpet sucks! Now's your chance to buy a nice quality carpet for your subie. A good investment if you're keeping your car for a couple more years.

Hi everyone, I was the one that set up the mold and the first buy with Ron Fryer. He's a great guy to work with and was very patient throughout the eight month "ordeal".
The Essex plush carpet is super quality, plush, no shedding, no matting, no bald spots, carpet has been installed now 11 months.
BTW their cheaper regular cut pile carpet is ALSO better quality than the oe Subaru carpet.
It was a b to install, knees were sore and almost raw, back pain for 2+ weeks but it was well worth it. If you got the money pay an upholstery shop to do it, you wont be as mad;)
I got the Essex Charcoal #CA-1038 (if part #'s are still the same) and it matches the interior perfectly.
Enjoy

One more point...
I notice a lot of talk about getting carpet/color samples. Allow me to suggest that each prospective purchaser should visit a local automotive upholstery shop and check out what's available.
ACS uses Dorsett Brand carpet (www.dorsettcarpet.com)which is widely available throughout North America under numerous brand names. Again I strong encourage each purchaser checking with a local shop rather than everyone asking for mail samples.

--[REGULAR] Eldorado www.dorsettcarpet.com/eldorado.html

I have had mine for about a year now...black/essex. It is top quality but i did not install it as well as i wanted to so i advise having a shop do it, plus its a real paint to replicate the cuts and whatnot because it come as one solid piece with no cutouts for bolts and whatnot. I might get another one bc they are so reasonable.
