so i havent used this on my gd, because the contours of the car dont go well with the lip, but i did use them on my bmw e30, and it actually looks really close to the OEM spoiler but is about $400 cheaper. it looks really good on the GC imprezas too, so i like this mod a lot, it just depends on your taste.

In other news, I ripped off my DIY type-2 lip about a week or so ago to make room for STi splitters. I was going to try and make it work with them on, but it looked too ghetto and my double-sided tape was dying anyway. Now it's in a heap in the trash and I'm looking at V-Limited replicas!
It was great while it lasted, though. Lots of compliments and "whoa, I thought you had a real lip on there!"

I'm thinking that won't hold up. The aluminum stock I used was pretty cheap @ Home Depot and I put it through its paces. A few times I misjudged a curb and folded the rubber lip under itself, but it never came off.

just did this mod today, found that Hot glue seemed to help, and i messed up a couple times and was able to SLOWLY remove the glue without any damage to my paint.....
taking it off next week and redoing it (because i messed up with tape the first time and chunked it all up
i found if you use hot glue, you can pull on the seal and make sure it stays tight and smooth
looks professional IMO
im thinking bout buying double and fliiping one side up and the other to make the skirt...dunno yet
Anyone try this on the side of the car as well? how bout the back. do you think it might look good?

Unfortunately I'm going to have to redo it total... the glue came off on one part I think when I hit high speed on the thruway today.
So I'm going to get some plastic pop rivet screws for the preexisting holes and I'm going to reglue it but with a better coverage pattern (such as a zig zag pattern)
I'm back to square one :(

You guys will probably all make fun of me but thats ok. I used clear plastic tubing to install mine with drywall screws. You can space the screws out so if you want to take it off later you'll have tiny little holes in your bumper. The clear tubing keeps it held tight against the bumper so theres no gaps, and you dont have to use double sided tape. Also if you put the plastic tubing right against the back of the lip when you put the screw in it squishes the tubing and pushes out on the lip keeping it at a 90 degree angle.
Heres the type of tubing I used,

^^ But plastic tubing is flimsy...
| realitycheck3907 | 11-15-2010 05:38 PM |
Its flexible enough to bend around the corners and flex to fit the curves of the bumper. But its strong enough it doesnt let the lip sag anywhere on the bumper. Its flexible but its not really flimsy.

so i was kind of bored today and checked out some diy's here since i cant put on those replica v limited lips because i don't have sti splitters. i found that the wrx is in need of a lip of sorts. hence, me doing this diy. pretty simple enough and adds something new to the car.
this is what i got:
a garage door seal EPDM quality rubber
3m double sided tape
and i had a couple of screws + washers + nuts already so i didnt need to get those

taped it on for visual aid

i drilled some new holes and used some of the existing ones already there. Inbetween the screws i had a strip of double sided tape to block offs any air passages.

finished product. i just added a little high gloss shine from an armor all spray

overall, it's a neat mod for just ~$20
