More like that does not look good at all. It looks good on the bugeye because it goes straight across. If you didn't have the splitters, it would probably look fine, but because you have the funky upward bend in the middle..
Satrya, any issue in terms of durability of material, etc? I am going to Lowe's tomorrow to look for this material. Any idea what it is called? neoprene door seals?
Being a quite compliant material, it should be fine unless you happen to run over sharp pieces of metal that might shred it. But then again, other materials would probably be seriously damaged by sharp metal. Well, since you've already installed them, you'll find out that it is quite durable.

IMO the DIY lip looks cleaner than the Track Dog splitter! I wonder what the two would look like together? Space the TDR splitter down with some standoffs, and fill the gap with the Frost King lip.
It would take some work to get the standoffs just right...maybe not worth the effort.
Definitely going to do this mod soon.

Pics of DIY lip on 04 w/out splitters...

Heres some decent pics of what this looks like on an 04 without splitters. In my search for a lip that would fit without them, I figured i would give this a shot, and I think that it turned out WAY better than i had expected. Looks good, and thats what I was going for. I may get some pipe strap or cut the front of the washer holding it up to get rid of the little bit of ripple across the front, but other than that, it looks great and I am happy.

Yeah, I would think you could get a flat piece of aluminum from Home Depot, and use it as a LONG washer across the center part that ripples, perhaps cut up shorter sections for the outside lengths.

I didn't do it at this point for aerodynamic purposes, Its strictly for appearance, as stated in my post with the pictures, but thanks for the concern.
Also, being a foam rubber material, and pointing outwards more than downwards, its almost too small to create enough turbulence at the front of the car anyways. Besides, at speeds high enough to become useful at deflecting air, i have a good feeling that the lip itself is going to be doing the deflecting.
When and IF i ever get serious enough to need a real air diffuser, I will most likely have a decent low drop, with stiffer suspension and must better tires than the stockers anyways...
At this point, stage 2 AP and some nice little visual modifications are more than enough to keep me happy with the car i drive to work and back every day.

Re-bumping this as I'm thinking about doing this too add a subtle lip, and to protect the bottom of the bumper a bit during winter.
Went to Home Despot today, and found the Frost King garage door seal, but now I'm wondering if I got the wrong stuff.
The package looks almost like this one:

Except it only says "Nail-On", not "Nail-On Hard Rubber". The material is very soft and flexible, so now I'm wondering if there's 2 versions of this stuff, or just 2 versions of the packaging. If there is a harder rubber version, I think that it would make a better material to use for a lip than the soft (almost foam) stuff I got.
If not, I guess I'll just use the flexible stuff I bought; maybe back it up with some "Great Stuff" expanding foam to give it some stiffness and shape that won't deform with the slightest wind pressure.

That stuff you bought is the same thing that i used. Its foam rubber and very flexible. I havent had any problems using it, and didnt see any harder rubber stuff like that when i was there either. Im assuming you got the right stuff. You will notice thou, the size of the washers you use, if they are too big, will cause the strip to flex at those spots and look likes its pulled up tighther to the bumper at those points.

that would pretty much completely negate the reason people do this.
hit this thing on a curb and the worst thing that will happen are a few scuff marks.
his fiberglass or sheetmetal on a curb and not only will it be severely damaged, but your bumper may be damaged as well.

 i use this PURELY to scrape on. everywhere.. i have screws underneith that support my lip under the force of air, so it doesn't flap, even with no screws the lip barely deforms under air pressure.
and when i scrape, it scrapes the nails and the rubber lip.. not the paint on my lip; woo hoo!

seeing that really makes me want to paint and install my front aeroguards. but they won't look right without a lip.

how many 'new' holes did you guys have to drill in your oem bumpers?
also, to bolt it on, you guys used a Nut>Washer>Lip>Washer>Bolt combo per drill spot?

i am talking about the DIY lip:confused:
it's stayed on there for what... 8 months now? something close to if not longer. didn't use any screws or nails, just adhesive.

well i sadly ripped off the old one after one side fell off after spinning out in thick fog doing 20mph running over 2 small curbs...
the durability of this material is amazing, i had to take a knife to cut it off and even then it was tough.
i missed scraping and the looks of it i made another one!!
Version 2 i call it; it has a much much sturdier design behind holding it up and new mounts in key points..

Any chance of getting underside pics of how you mounted it? Also I assume its the same material as "version 1"?
Thanks, looking forward to putting this on my White Subie also.
