There's no official link for the DRL removal mod, however, when the "Search" is working, results can be had in an overwhelming fashion :)
Use terms, "DRL" or "DRL glovebox"

Didnt see it in the list. Not much to this one. Black interior trim ALA S202/S203 styling.
Mine represents the S202 Flavor with the older 02-04 interior, Maybe someone can post a few pics of this done to an 05+ interior also.

Instructions are as follows:
1) Open cup holder. Remove 2 screws. Remove cup holder by pulling straight out.
2) Reomve Upper and Lower Console Bezels.
3) remove 2 smaller screws from back of upper bezel and carefully remove the vents.
4) Carefully remove the hazard button from upper bezel.
5) Carefully remove the side vent trims, These are held firmly in place, but only by tounge/groove arrangement, Just be careful not to damage your dash vinyl. Hardest part of the entire job.
6) Clean all the parts and mask off anything that you dont want painted like the cup holder. In my case, i have the Forester pocket, so i taped off around the lid.
7) Primer the trim. I only used one medium coat of paint and let dry for about 5-10 minutes.
8) Spray a few coats of flat black (or any color you prefer) on teh trim pieces until they do not show any primer.
9) Optional: I like to run a good misting coat over the still tacky surface of what im painting to give it a tiny bit more abrasice surface, without making it look rough. This also seems to make it dry more evenly.
10) Sit back, have a cold one of your preference and let the trim dry for a few hours. DO NOT cut the drying time short because you WILL apply pressure to the pieces during reassembly and you DO NOT want to get your grimy fingerprints all over the freshly painted trim pieces.
11) Reinstall the pieces in reverse order of Uninistall for painting.
12) Enjoy your new trim by driving around and constantly checking it out and how much better it looks than the stock silver trim that doesnt go with anything else in the car.

I forgot about posting that! I believe you're looking for my thread right here -- Legacy headrest mod. FWIW, I love them. Though not as sleek as the stock headrests, they're SO much better in terms of comfort and safety. And now that they're covered in matching fabric not a soul has noticed them as non-stock. Trust me on this. Do it.

| cstratton04 | 03-02-2006 03:04 PM |
I havn't seen a write up, but it seems pretty simple. When I do my mudflap mod, I will most likely do what Jamie (subie gal) did. She ordered a urethane material (you can find some here but im not sure its the cheapest). Then just bolt is up to the wheel well like so:

(courtesy of www.subiegal.com)
It seems easy enough. Just make sure to get nice big washers so there is more surface area and it won't rip off as easily.

Yeah I bought the same stuff. I was watching your mudflaps on the drive home today. They weren't deforming very much at ~65 mph so I am happy.
Have you thought about cutting yours to be more aesthetically appealing?

| specialev | 03-26-2006 11:57 PM |
What, they aren't aesthetically appealing to you? This bums me out. Should I round them to meet the fenders?
Yeah, I thought about cutting them and I know how I would do it. I can even do it to yours if you want it done prior to installing them. I would cut them with a band saw; I have a band saw in my shop on the West side, I also have access to one out here.
I am happy with how rigid they are; glad to hear you didn't see them deflecting too much. I like them a lot more than the Rally Armor flaps, especially with a lowered car. On the stock springs, not the Pro Drives I am on now, the Rally Armors had little ground clearance. As rigid as the RA flaps were, they would catch and scuff on anything I touched with them; that's why I only kept them for a month. I'd be dragging the damn things on the ground if I retained them after swapping in the Pro Drives for the stockers.

I think I am going to round them to meet the fender, and also maybe round the corners at the bottom a tiny bit. I liked how the RAs looked...

Turbo Heatshield

Following a good hacking of my factory heatshield when I was doing my UP swap (failed BTW, started rounding the engine mount bolt, so I stopped and put it back together for now), I had to make up a new heatshield. It's made up of header wrap, sandwiched between two layers of aluminum sheet, and the inside is lined with reflective muffler tape. I know it looks a little industrial and I wish I had come up with a cleaner way of fastening the layers together, but I'm sure it will do the job better than having none at all.

Now I need to come up with something to assist the header wrap I put on the manifold. (Heatshield bolts on a 150,000km+ WRX, plus Canadian winters, does not make for a good removal!)
