Here's hoping both Ferraris can finish this one! :furious: :furious: :furious:
blksubie 04-18-2006 08:52 AM

CBS = NO Peter in the Pits, that sucks... I'll probably wait until Speed has on to watch the race...
ptclaus98 04-18-2006 09:14 AM

Whoa! It's gonna be on CBS?!?!

SWEET!!!!!

:dances in the streets:

Finally! This will be my first race being married...
Ferg 04-18-2006 09:27 AM

Thanks for getting this started Wr4wrX :D

I don't mind the CBS coverage so much, although if they bring Derek Daily along for "color" commentary I might throw something at the television.

Dear Jesus,

Please, please, don't let Sam Posey help out with CBS commentary, especially his retarded super dramarific intros. And thank you for all the chocolate and candy this past weekend. And for fish tacos. mmm.

amen

I like Double D as a person and as a racer but man to I want to choke the life out of him when he does color. The CBS guys get things wrong so many times during a race and DD is the worst of the bunch. We should all do a drinking game of how many times they mix up Williams and BMW Sauber this race. The Speed guys do it all the time, the CBS guys have no chance.
Ferg 04-18-2006 12:36 PM

A drinking game on Sunday morning? How absolutely scandalous! I'm in. :D

I'd also add a shot for everytime DD calls Nico, "Keke".
bemani 04-18-2006 12:41 PM

CBS likes to replay the same crash like 20 times *during the race*

I hatesss ittt

When does Speed get to show theirs? On Friday afterwards like last year?

Oh - and Derek Daly sucks.

I was in Italy last year and had the opportunity to go to the race, those are the loudest "high pitch" cars I've ever heard. I was in the room right above the finish line I even went into the ferrari pits and took some pictures next to Michael Schumi. then sporting the #1 car. That's one of the best experiences of my life. :D
bitterWRX 04-19-2006 02:04 AM

I want Button to win... especially because of what happened in Australia. But Schumi and Alonso are deadly fast. Man... it's tough.
grandpa rex 04-19-2006 07:34 AM

I'm in a horrible slump this year with my picks. Here goes anyway:

1. Raikkonen. He has to win eventually
2. Fisi - has a new spec engine this week
3. MS - home track, lots of tifosi, due for a good result
4. Alonso - absolutely dominant, but gotta make a mistake some time
5. Button - a workmanlike drive
6. Rosberg - time for a good result
7. Jackie Newtown - I can't believe I'm picking him in the points
8. Massa - see MS notes

I really need 80 points to get back into the hunt.

Sorry for being morbid, but which corner was Senna killed in? Has it been changed at all?
Ferg 04-19-2006 01:19 PM

Senna lost it at the very fast left hander called Tamburello, which sadly has been slowed with a chicane.
StuBeck 04-19-2006 01:44 PM

The corner needed to be slowed with a chicane though, there is no way to increase the runoff room in the corner without filling in a river directly behind it, which would just not be good for anything.

And Sam Posey is fighting some really nasty disease last I heard, so I don't think this will be an "issue."
Ferg 04-19-2006 01:53 PM

Yeah, Tamburello had always been one of the true scary corners in F1...180mph+ with zero runoff room. You're right Stu, there was nothing else they could do..although they didn't have to butcher the rest of Imola in the process.

Berger had a massive shunt there in the late 80's IIRC, far worse looking than Senna's, but he walked away from it.

Just one of those things.

From what I remember, Posey is fighting Parkinson's, or at least that's what it looked like the last time I saw him on camera.

I'd rather listen to Posey than Daly any time. :)

If I had my choice I would bring back Derek Bell and John Watson from the ESPN2 days, those two never shied away from calling a bad driver a bad driver!
Bonzo 04-19-2006 03:10 PM

[/QUOTE]

I saw him a few years ago at Road America. By seeing first hand his general disposition, Parkinsons would have been my first guess.

I was never really a fan of Posey until I started to really listen and read his stuff. Seeing his obvious medical challenge gave me a little perspective into his life too. He is very credible and does a good job on reporting history. He also does good work with OLN on the Tour de France every year.

Sam's ok in my book.
XenoWolf 04-19-2006 04:17 PM

Looking forward to it, I went through motorsports withdrawl last weekend (no WRC, F1 or CART) and need my fix.

I'm an avid McLaren fan, but I'm looking forward to seeing Button finally get that monkey off of his back.
StuBeck 04-19-2006 05:10 PM

Yep, Berger had a massive crash and caught fire, if Senna had had the accident now instead of then nothing would have happened because the suspension would have shattered and not go through his skull. But you still need more run off room at a turn like that. I actually like the flow of the track from a driving perspective, it doesn't allow passing but it is fun to drive (from my F1Challenge days)
tdm74 04-19-2006 06:33 PM

3. fisi - time to outshine alonso?
4. montoya - good race short on strategy working out for him

edit- predicting alonso throws a fit about something that happens during the race, Speed outdoes DC and keeps his mouth shut.

It's also crazy that many of these teams complain about the costs associated with F1. I spy with my little eye: many things that could be ditched to save some money. Entertain your sponsors with a trip through the pits, not a 5-star meal at the race track...
