I thought I saw the main element of the Renault bending a bit... oh noes!! I'm no huge Ferrari fan, but it seems like if they do get busted, a lot of other people will probably be as well. :alien:

I think there is a fundamental diff in the Ferrari wing and the rest from what I have seen. All wings will have flex. Period. They will have to move at some point, like Matchett said, a block of concrete would too. What really caught my eye about the Ferrari front wing in the 1st 2 races was that the 3rd element (bi plane wing on the front) kept pulling away from the nose itself. That means that it was not secured to the nose which seems like a very easy solution and one that if you were sticking to the rules should have been done anyways. The last race the rear wing flexed liked mad. That looked like more of an design issue because it was bucking like a horse over the curbs.

The rest of the teams wings do move but it seems to be the trailing edge of a very thin piece of material that, to me at least, can't be helped.

I'm not Charlie Whiteing but Ferrari seems to be doing something very different from the rest.

And they're within the letter of the rules, so it's up to the other teams to adapt/copy if it really is an advantage, or to petition FIA to get the rule changed...

Speaking of: Have the top teams finally got their own version of the "launch mode" in renault's clutch? There didn't seem to be a big jump by the renaults at the start of this race. Either Renault blew the programming for this race, or everyone else has stepped-up their launch procedures.

Why was Alonoso's second out lap 2 seconds slower than Michaels? His slow out lap was the race. MS only made up something like .6 seconds of the gap on the track, and the pit stop was about another .2 faster, but he came out over 2 seconds ahead of Alonso. Alonso had a slow out lap - pushing too hard on new, cold tires? (Don't recall if he put on scrubs or new tires).

Even if Alonso's out lap had been faster, it was Schumacher's pace over those three in-laps that opened up the gap.

Check out this write up of that part of the race from Autosport.
"We needed a gap of several seconds," said Pat Symonds, who knew that Ferrari could go further before pitting, "but however hard we pushed, Michael was able to respond and close up again. It was therefore well before the second stop that we were aware he would come out in front of us."

Symonds' scepticism was well founded. Alonso's final shot before pitting was a new fastest lap of 1:32.532, but this was beaten by Schumacher's 1:32.523 less than a second later. Next time around (lap 37), Alonso dived into the pits, allowing Schumacher to really stretch his legs with a 1:32.420 and a 1:32.099 (which would stand as the race's fastest), followed by a 1:32.1 for good measure.

With Alonso's out laps around 1.6 seconds slower, this race was decided. Schumacher pitted on lap 41, and rejoined 5.5 seconds ahead of Alonso, who immediately went into engine conservation mode.
in either the first or the second race, it showed some of the differences between the rear wings of ferrari and the other cars. There was a little stick that attached all of the elements of the rear wing on the other cars, that wasnt there on ferraris. Im not sure if theyre still complaining about their front wing flexing or if it is the rear, but thats what i saw.
