H Kansai Service rear underbody diffuser - I want! part 2

engineerx 06-23-2005 08:13 PM

You're not going to get much better than the 8-12 week wait - UNLESS you pay premium for AIR freight!
Hence, the up to 12-week wait as it most likely will be shipped via surface, on the next container Bulletproof has scheduled... not to mention whether it's readily available in Japan yet.
Perhaps Bulletproof can do a GROUP BUY and give us a deal.... especially to the person who started this thread :D
I NEED THIS - NEED TO COMPLEMENT THE HKS EXTERNAL WASTEGATE .....!!
i'd like to see better pictures, especially of the CF version before i ploped down $750. Does look very inticing though.
Greg ;)
Same here - however, I would think that the part should be high quality, coming from HKS.... the Japanese companies really take pride in making good quality products, especially the custom parts like this one....
bomex180 06-23-2005 09:03 PM

12-weeks...thats a long wait.

If they have it in stock on Japan, I should be able to get it by end of July(1st week of August since it'll be in customs for a couple of days)

My buddy looks like he's planning on getting one so we'll see how it goes.
vaj 06-24-2005 01:55 AM

+1 on the group buy...

*i'm not worthy, not woooooorthy*
bolio 06-25-2005 09:07 PM

+2 on group buy!!! Me want one bad. I just finished installing a Vishnu rear diffuser and it was a bitch. Vishnu told my dad it would fit his stock 05 MR with no dodifications, WRONG!!! Lots of cutting and customizing needed, but the car does feel better. I wonder how the Kansai would fit my 04 STI. Aren't the rear bumpers different on 04's and 05's? Either way I wouldn't mind customizing and I really want this piece. What vendor wants to make some easy $$$$?

it would be great if a vendor would do a 10-unit group buy - From the interest shown in this thread, it seems it would be no problem selling these.

as for fit.... we probably would not know how well they fit until we actually try them. I imagine they would be good quality pieces, but probably some minor modifications would be necessary.

a well-qualified CF shop should be able to make replicas for $300 - $400 and still make a decent profit ....

EXEDY HYPER CLUTCH..... HKS DIFFUSER..... :furious: Can't decide! I know the Clutch will be more beneficial to my soon to be ~400 hp APS/internals/Hydra STI

pic of the CF...

engineerx 07-15-2005 01:15 PM

AaronWRX:
Excellent find !

Nice design - they provide you with a part you custom-cut yourself to fit your particular application. Given the 100's of different mufflers people have , that's the best approach!

.... I don't see the emissions canister USDM WRX's have on the rear right aft of the fender well....

I'm still trying to find a way to finance the purchase!
AaronWRX 07-15-2005 03:47 PM

The vishnu evo peice looks awesome imo. Decent price too.

That cf piece is the hawtness.
dchou 07-15-2005 06:32 PM

FYI...Bulletproofautomotive offered me $650 plus shipping and tax for a group of 5 or more orders of the FRP version you see in the first post.
godai 07-15-2005 06:35 PM

I'm more interested in someone getting the OEM 06 Diffiuser for $100 shipped and tell me if it fits our 04-05 =)
rey_vibora 07-15-2005 10:03 PM

www.KamiSpeed.com can get this parts. They import lots of parts from Japan.
lawn boy 07-16-2005 09:24 AM

that is so sexy.
Allstar_Endless_WRX 07-16-2005 09:35 PM

i need this now!
STi-MAN 07-17-2005 05:48 PM

i ordered the 06 diffuser, but after examining the bottom of my 05 sti, i dont think its gonna fit. there doesnt seem to be a mounting point for 3 out of the 5 mounting points.

Yikes!
You should be able to do a custom install, have a shop add brackets/mounting points.
Post pics when done :D
STi-MAN 07-17-2005 08:48 PM

i have a feeling maybe 06 sti's have holes drilled into the trunk area. well see it'll still be a couple weeks b4 it comes from japan.
bomex180 07-20-2005 02:20 AM

I should be getting one at the end of this month.
engineerx 07-20-2005 04:03 AM
I should be getting one at the end of this month.
aaargh !!
You're gonna have to show it off - pics please!
I'm gonna have to wait to come up w/ more $$
The installation of forged internals and APS turbo will leave me pennyless!
STi-MAN 07-20-2005 04:52 AM

bomex180 07-20-2005 09:02 PM

I'll post pics once I get it.
mindchatter 07-20-2005 09:42 PM

Jeebus! When is someone gonna update this thread with pics of the HKS piece on their damned car already.....
STi-MAN 07-21-2005 06:27 PM

06 diffuser is in customs now, so i dont kno how long it takes till it gets to me.
bomex180 07-21-2005 08:34 PM

you wont probably get it til next week. I guess mine wont be in til mid/end of august.
engineerx 07-24-2005 04:10 PM

The other one I've seen is the Varis... but it's a bit too..... "protruding?" - I mean it sticks out too much on the sides, so it looks too riacy (combination of racy+ricy - LOL) + Price is double
~$700 for rear difusser + ~$700 for rear vortex generators

STi-MAN 07-24-2005 06:39 PM

the vortec generator is actually the middle part, and they call the side pieces the diffuser. by the way the 06 diffuser is basically here wasnt home on saturday to recieve it but i'll probably be in tomarrow. my guess is still that it wont fit. the guys at japanparts are more optimistic.
tmeultraman 07-24-2005 07:11 PM

is it possible to buy the diffuser shown on the jun car? thats the one i really really want
rey_vibora 07-24-2005 11:39 PM

Is the 06 rear diffuser carbon fiber like the Varis one?
senortighto 07-25-2005 12:50 AM

kinda similar, just a bit more compact. it just consists of a rectangular section with four slats across its rectangular body, like the varis vortex generator. but the varis one, in my opinion, looks a little bit better.

Jun's Lemon Dragon diffuser is a one off ...I have never seen it for sale anywhere. I believe they built that car to do the under 60 sec Tsukuba time attack and to showcase Jun's Garage. - I like that one best - it's huuuge !

The '06 piece is barely visible, rather small, the Varis does look nicer. My picks:
1. Jun's
2. HKS
3. Varis
4. STI
WRX8XB 07-25-2005 10:44 AM

The H Kansai Service one appears to be the best in subtleness and price.

downside, hopefully you like your exhaust that you have on your car when you install this piece.

it is easier for me to keep my CC in my wallet when I know that I need an exhaust that I like before I get to buy this gorgeous piece.

any pics of the 2006 STi piece yet?

Drew

+100

I wanna tackle a jun-type diffuser as a DIY project. I did notice that the area that holds the license plate is a little chopped off. :D

Nice, simple, straight pieces.
tmeultraman 07-25-2005 05:25 PM

if you ever do fabricate these ill be #1 on the purchase list
if you ever do fabricate these ill be #1 on the purchase list
I'll be #2 !

Any competent CF shop should be able to make these, like he says... the shaps are not that complex! ..... just waiting to be made.....
GTR STI 07-25-2005 06:32 PM

anyone know if the HKS piece will fit with the OEM JDM Rear bumper splitters?
tmeultraman 07-25-2005 09:41 PM

ill check with cftype.com their local for me
tmeultraman 07-25-2005 10:52 PM

actually if you could shoot cftype.com a copy of this image in an email id be willing to split production costs with you on the first two, for some reason i cant attach that image to my email

you need to mod it for the exhaust so i assume modding to fit with the bumper splitters wouldn't be over the top.
