I might as well spill then, this seat is out of a 2000 Subaru Impreza UK Turbo, they got the same fabric we got in the RS, but they also got the folding seats.
I'm finding the biggest problem is shipping cost over from england as the seat back includes the metal frame for the folding seats. Not only is it bulky, but it's not very light either.
Too bad Gruppe-S or someone similar isn't importing these, they'd sell a ton of them!

I'm curious too. Maybe Groupe-S could import from subaru. They are a subaru product correct?

ok, got a few more pics up at http://homepage.mac.com/kstiggger/PhotoAlbum14.html w/ R side halfway done. have to finsh sewing on cloth of R side, then finish off the back of both sides, plus will probably be adding on removeable headrests as well. opie, maybe you can have them ship just the foam/cloth and get a different frame from a local junkyard? more pics to come soon.

The rear seats were cheap! $80
The shipping is crazy expensive (due to large size and weight) $210

So, $300 for folding rear seats. That doesn't sound to bad.

What is the part number for those UK RST folding seats? I have inside connections at a subaru dealer. Maybe they can hook me/us up.

impreza2000,
what kind of parts can you get? stock/uk stock, etc only or aftermarket subaru stuff as well? i'm looking for cf side skirts, cf projector headlights to name a few. also, can you get front stock headrests for a good price?

On a related note...my folding seats from the UK were finally shipped today! :D Should be here in 10-15 days!
Will post pics and install tips once they've arrived.
Final cost $267.00 includes:
Complete rear 40/60 floding rear seat including frame, latches and everything necessary to install & shipping. Fabric is an exact match to the RS black checkerbaord fabric.

Hmm.... another thing I want on my list - so where can I order this online? $270USD is a tad expensive, but hell, the convenience of having a folding 60/40 rear seat can't be beat. Hmm... I wonder if there are some STi alternative as well, as I'm might want some nicer front seats with matching fabric.

Only problem is the big bar running accross the back
and all the covering
:/
and, where are the bolts for the top of the rear seats, by the speakers? I took off the bottom 3 but couldn't see the top ones.
it does seem like the 3 bolts on bottom don't do much though, it'd rock if I could just hold the tops in w/ quick release pins in case of an accident or something.

Here's a different way to do the same thing, but with the split folding rear seat that was available in '93-'96 coupes and sedans, fitted with RS cloth.
