I can't repeat it, I had one magic lap, and since then if I try to keep up with my ghost I bite it. I can click 1:01s repeatedly, I dip into the 1.00s occasionally, but I haven't been able to back that one up.

Im using the wheel. Ive always liked the wheel better (as in its more fun to play the game with) but Im usually faster with the controller.

im using the wheel. Wheel>controller...you can control the throttle and brake a 1000x better with the wheel.:banana:

i'll give you guys a hint for this challenge. Maybe this will help you guys near my time get it down a little closer or surpass me. 2nd to last turn, the one right before the long stretch. If you take it in a way to get your right side of the car in the grass then floor it. You'll rotate the car and drift onto the straightaway carrying about 10+ more mph onto the straight compared to taking that turn normally. Just keep at least two wheels on the track though or it is TEH CHEATING! No one said i couldn't use wet grass on my back right tire to help rotate the car though!:lol:

Crappy time submitted, I never got to try and beat my own best again after the first time. I kind of like this type of competition, I can usually squeeze in one time during the week to try to get a top 8 time.

Especially that last turn if you slow down enough and get that right back wheel in the grass. You want to do it right mid turn so the loss of traction rotates the car and you can carry more speed out of the turn. Kind of drift it. I did a whole lot of sliding in this challenge. O yea and make your subaru as RWD as possible. Goodluck ;)

Interesting. I left at least a half second on the table because I never got to try again and I got my times with a really late apex that gave me as much straight acceleration as possible, with the center diff near 50% to get all the power down and the understeer set between 1-3 so it didn't cut too much power (but hit the brakes a little bit for me to reel the front end in around the last bend).
But then I again, I still would not have had the top time.

So yeah, bad news. If no one noticed, I didn't submit a time this week. This is because my PS2 has stopped recognizing my GT4 CD. I used to be able to trick it into reading it, but it's finally gotten to the point where it just won't work. I'm just trying to figure out how I can keep this running without having access to GT4. Hmmm....

Mine has gone wonky too, Matt - I was trying to win races/cars to fund these challenges - when I get to the "win a car screen" - I.e. the car is turning with the spotlight and stuff - the text shows up, the car never does, the music never starts, and it locks up. :( :( :(

I feel your guys pain with the crappy ps2's/cds. I have 2 discs I have to swap back and forth when certain tracks/cars/whatever is loading. But I also have a Gt force wheel so that kinda evens the suckiness out.
I look forward to doing the April challenge.

I used to have lots of issues and tried all the fixes that I could find on the net and they only helped marginally.
I eventually got tired of disassembling and reassembling the PS2 so no I have this

It doesn't look like there's going to be an April challenge. I just can't do it without a PS2. I think I know how to fix it, but I don't have a lot of time to fool with it. This is my last month of college and I really need to stay focused with school.
Look for another challenge in the future. Possibly in May, but more likely in June.

My PS2 stopped reading my (first) copy of GT4 too. It seems like something was rubbing on the inside tracks of the DVD because it has a different look to it (hard to describe) and it was making these funny scratchy/squealing noises during startup before it stopped being recognized. I ended up letting the PS2 sit "flat" versus the "vertical" orientation and buying a new copy.

yeah that may work, I was unable to make a submission the last week due because i didnt have enough practice time.....Keep the ideas coming, I am gonna fire up the PS2 and put together something. That is the same problem I had, the issue is the cd is slipping. You can see the white thing on top of the cd in my pic, it is too lite from the factory and doesnt put enough forced on the cd.
