X-Games rally was awesome. Open paddock, pictures and autographs of McRae, Grist, et al. Pictures to come later.

Uh, why would you think he'd roll it on purpose? He was simply pushing hard to keep up with Pastrana, set up his jump wrong and over he went. Any 'conspiracy theories' that McRae did it on purpose are just rediculous... :rolleyes:

I don't know, I just thought that its a car rolling competition or something. You mean its just a regular rally stage? That's ... disappointing.

Woo! This can only bode well for rally's visibility here in the States.

I'd like to see Pastrana get into WRC competition someday... I'd definitely be entertained... :)

I asked him if he thought that he would be there in the next couple of years and he said "I hope to do some JWRC and then move up if I can".

He can!

He has style, charisma, ability, looks, luck, perseverance, Christian and a whole continent of fans.

I was very lucky to work the event and the whole time I felt like I was a part of history. Watching todays events solidified that feeling.

Why? It was not a real rally, it was made for TV. It is totally conceivable that it was intentional.

A) How many times had he driven the course? He had that corner down pretty well

B) He was well ahead of Travis, he had to know by how much since they had Travis' time before they started the stage. There was no reason to push it over the jump

C) The X Games has become the Travis Pastrana show

D) Rolling out of contention while having a big lead like he did was a good way to let Travis win and still keep his reputation of being fast (and spectacular)


Not saying I necessarily believe it (we will likely never know will we?), but it [i]is[/i] a possibility

I agree. I didn't mind the commentary so much as the fact that they showed about 8.576 seconds of each of the earlier stages and only the top 6 during the SS stage.
But man, Colin's roll was awesome! I thought he still had first after that!

All in all I snapped about 200 photos so I have some work to do with resizing and clean-up. I will get them to Nick(aspiringwrx) or get them up myself.

That was crazy!! People in the stands went wild when he flipped, and absolutely bonkers when he kept going!!

I seriously doubt he did it on purpose, although that one incident is certainly going to be the highlight of the event and probably guaranteed that rally cars will be in future X Games for a while. :lol:

Also, correct me if I'm wrong but "Crash" McRae has a reputation for his all or nothing driving, and he certainly lived up to it today. I'm sure it was deja vu for poor old Nicky Grist. :lol:

It was amazing watching Colin on the tarmac, I think he kissed the barriers twice and he was flying! I loved how he took that hairpin that reminds me of the one at Monaco, it looked like he was easily the fastest through there and the lurid drift angles were awesome!

I don't think Pastrana would want to give up bikes completely. At least with Rally America he can do both.

Let's hope that Winter X Games show's off some winter rally. A crossover - winter/summer game would be great, plus it's easy to put the Arena spin on it even in the winter - think of some ice racing "special stage" segment as the final.

Watching Colin going through that hairpin was great! It was really cool to see him catch up to Pastrana through the stages - that's some great skill and experience on display... though he did end up living up to his "McCrash" moniker at the end... :p

Yeah, he put on a clinic on the tarmac section, and well maybe even in the dirt since it was so spectacular and everybody's talking about it! :lol:

Oh come on! You don't think McRae "threw the game" and stuffed it in order to give the win to Pastrana? :D I'm surprised more people haven't said that yet.

In another thread we said "Colin will win or wreck" and that's exactly how it turned out. He ain't McCrash for nothin'. :)

If I had a better camera I would have been able to snap some shots like that top one here but I don't have an SLR :(
