Imprezas dont need Altezzas, just go with STi red/clear or do like me and ATX25RS did, go all red, it looks great, and costs MUCH less.

when i first got my car, i was gonna have a set custom made for it, i know a guy who can design them, but i never did it because i noticed how honda-ish it would make my car look, i wanted to be different, kind alike how the first people who got hte lights were way back in the day..having stock tails now seems to be the thing thats different..
and yes, i know the 02's have different tails that the old GC8's.
if you dont go overboard like APC did with their car, they could look nice, i think some cars look good with em.

Exactly, so who cares what I or anybody else thinks. I am just stating MY opinion. Like I said earlier it is your car do what you want. I KNOW not everyone likes the way my car looks. I'd rather have rally light bar than small-ass integra lights. I always think that those people with white, bright, rapid turn signals are idiots and endangering themselves and others.

I was thinking of getting mine with LED and proper colored bulbs, I think that would be every bit as functional as stock....but i see your point when it comes down to the fact they are tail lights....but i am willing to part with a lil money to make my car more appealing to ME.

I know I'm getting off the subject a little here, but it's always made me smile when I think of someone spending good money to replace an ALUMINUM hood with a carbonfibre one, when they could be spending that money on STi style headlights or similar. As an aside, I think some of the flaming about taillights etcetera can be blamed on the generation gap. As a 38 year old, I'm just fine with the stock taillights, but if someone else wants a different sytle then Vive la difference (or however you'd say that). We all have our own idea of style and taste, but c'mon everyone, let's remember that we should be cultivating associations with ALL enthusiasts, not disassociating ourselves from other ENTHUSIASTS who have different ideas about style and so forth. In the end we're all car nuts, right? Let's leave the petty stuff at work, eh?

HIHO, saying I drive a rally car isn't too terribly different than saying a new Monte Carlo SS is like driving a Nascar racer. That's not the greatest comparison, but compared to a WRC racer, still I do lack a full roll cage, fire extinguishers, a gutted interior, carbon fiber everything...and a $500,000 price tag. I appreciate the WRX's rally roots, but let's face it, most of us will probably never rally the things. Mine's a daily driver and I simply enjoy it for what it is: a very fun street car. Labels, labels, everywhere a label. "If everyone thought the same way, things would be that way already..."

Discussion/debate is certainly fine... but threats of physical violence certainly are not. If people would grow up and realize that their opinion is not the only one and that it is not necessarily correct, these threads might actually be useful. It seems it's much more fun for people to pop in and say "buy a Honda if you want them" or the ever well-thought-out reply of "that's rlce". For the most part, people on this board are very smart, but this subject turns many people into lemmings running off of a cliff ;).

I would just like to thank everyone on the i-club for changing my opinions. For the longest time I too hated Altezza lights and all the Honda kids who followed that trend. Now, I don't. I have my own car... I do what I want to that car. You have your own car... you do what you want to it. Why the hell should I care about your car or vice versa? When I want your opinion, I will ask it. Otherwise, I really don't care. This is what everyone except you thinks. I agree with North, people on the site are generally intellegent, though I'm beginning to see how ignorant some people are. Please don't delete this post because it does have merit. I am noticing a lot of posts in off-topic about people leaving the club for this very reason. Flaming people, calling them ricrs, telling them to buy Hondas, informing them about the cars WRC heritage (without mention of Mitsu's Lancer and Ford's Focus rally use... two other cars people like to flame about around here)... things like that aren't sitting well with a lot of people. People don't want to hear what you have to say if it is negative. It also seems that some people only have negative things to say... they should just be quiet. They didn't ask you... and they don't wanna hear it. I believe the topic was "anyone make lights like this," it was not "what do people think about these lights." Just to clarify, "some people" is referring to anybody... not any particular person. Thank you, good day.

I think its more along the line of that most of us have pride in our cars and a sense of honor and dignity. And with this type of thing, our honor, dignity, and pride feel violated, thus we disaprove. To me, saying "I want clear lights on my Impreza" is a bit like saying "Lets paint the Statue of Liberty pink with purple polka dots", its a bit like a knife in the back on how it makes me feel.
Dare I even go into artistic value and design qualities? :p (I do have a degree in art + design after all)

Your opinion on clear lights...
Have ya'll seen the clear lights the orange WRX from APC has on. If so what do you think about them. At first I wanted them because they look nice. But then I thought about it and realized that if I put them on, it would be like another honda on the streets that think they are fast just because they have clear lights. Anyways that just my '02' Would anybody buy them?

I have seen celicas and neons sporting altezza style lights and they just look horrible. I dont think they look good on the altezza either. They just aint my style, but if you want them get them, but people will probably say they look horrible. I'm just rambleing sorry

Clear tail lights are played out IMO. I wouldn't put those clear side peices on the side of my wrx too. The only one I can deem acceptable is clearing out the stock headlights, but this is more of a honda/acura trend than subaru.

I think there was an WRX type R in Japan for the older GC8s. There was definitely a type RA. Not too sure on a type R though.

I hate Altezas, But I like to be different. I think that if you paint the chrome part of the taillight blue like the color of your car, it would look good. Leave the red lenses red and paint all the chrome blue, all of it!!.
My 2 cents.
I hate Altezas, But I like to be different. I think that if you paint the chrome part of the taillight blue like the color of your car, it would look good. Leave the red lenses red and paint all the chrome blue, all of it!!.

Alteza lights are for 15 year olds with too much money on their hands, not enough experience in life to realize how tacky they look asthetically, and have a well bellow average IQ... Seriously! I mean, look at who has them on their cars! :eek: I'm not lying here! :lol:

BTW, I am not flaming anyone..just my opinion. I don't mind altezza style lights really, they do look decent on some cars, just that I've seen APC's SEMA show car with the rear lights...and it's fugly.

I'm not trying to tell you, not to get them. I just have had this feeling every time I see them and I needed to get it off my chest.
I say, atleast wait for the CF ones (Maxima style) to come out.
