Swap stereo bulbs with LED part 6

ScreaminFast 02-10-2004 10:02 PM

Looks nice..... :)

I just got the JDM V8 cluster, so I'm trying to find a way to match everything to that...any ideas?

can someone help me with the whole resister part of the soldering? Following Cap'n Morgan's instructions, it sounds likt I solder the resister to the positive LED lead and then push it through the hole, but in his pic, the resister is on the back side of the board, so how do you get the resister through the board??? can someone please clear this up for me?

Thanks!

Anyone in the Chicago land area looking to help me change my interior bulbs? I would like to do this myself but the lack of electrical knowledge scares me off a bit.

bump... btw.. what kind of LED do new camrys or accords use for their newly brightened spedometers?

Haven't seen one, but probably an electroluminescent display rather than LEDs.

This is what I ended up with. Not bad. Definitely go with a larger resister. 330ohm is too small. I have had to replace 6 LEDs over two years. Finally I just replaced all LEDs and resisters with a 560ohm.

I still keep meaning to do this... I still get nervous when splicing electric wires in my ride though lol :)

what size are the bulbs that you replaced, all they all the same size?

Ok, I have an 02 WRX...how do I take out the 5mm LEDs behind the A/C controls...and also, how can I take out the 3mm bulbs in my six disk changer...I am getting LEDs for them all...I can access them and take everything out except the bulbs...so do they pop out or twist our or what?...thanks...email me if you want

Hate to bump a 2 year old thread, but it's directly related, so I don't want to start a new one.

I just did this mod over the weekend, and it looks awesome. But I had one thing to point out and 2 questions.

First, it turns out that the two bulbs on the right side of my board were opposite polarity from what was shown in the picture in the pdf on scoobymods.

Second, I used the blue bulbs from radio shack as mentioned, and it came out a VERY dark blue, compared to my prosport blue gauges, it's almost leaning towards a dark purple. Anyone know if there's a way to make it more of a true blue?

Lastly, I don't know what happened, but I have 3 buttons that don't work now. The #4, the CD button and the balance/fade button. I don't see any damage to the circuits, is there any other reason for those to stop working? Has anyone else had similar problems?

FYI, its actually a 6 year old thread :)

it could be a loose connection somewhere, not just a trace
like if one of the solder points is coming loose or something
Kavik 12-16-2008 11:44 AM

LOL i was going based off the last post, not the first :D

all the solder on the buttons looked fine, none felt loose or anything, but I'll double check again, thanks.
