I am glad I have a chance to support the class without making a fool out of myself. My car needs a good driver and that isn't me. I run STX at our local Region. I have only been autocrossing for 6 months and I am having so much fun. I cant wait to meet all of you at Nats. My front Koni's go on as soon as they get here. I got the rears first and now I am waiting for the fronts. My car isn't as prepared as all of yours but since we need the numbers I will enter it.

Tom- Hey, old farts like me learn slow; I'll need that 3 weeks. I'm getting in Sunday evening, and would be MORE than glad to lend a hand w/ the conversion if we end up needing you. It would be a pleasure. Gotta admit, you're talking a pretty steep learning curve!
Hope Willman67 finds a way to make it.. BigSky, Shifterkartracer, you out there? We're getting close.

Realisitically I'll be in the DFL battle with you!:D Just thought I'd have some fun. Keith and Pete were just here and they think I can take KC out!!!
I'll be in late Sunday as well.
Tom - I think we'd all be willing to lend a hand...;)

two more STX entrys ( 2.5 RS ) faxed 8/14 . . .
judging how far behind Denver is in updating entrys, I'd bet the 18 will be surpassed ( TRH can no doubt hang in DS )
btw, TR, contact Mike at Gary Figgs 785-267-2390; you can be accomodated in their shop as can other Subies - just let 'em know in advance of planned needs ( i.e. alignments, struts, etc. )

Woohoo! I'm sure the webpage will be up to date about the time we are leaving for Topeka so I will know whether I need to bring all the spare parts. They seem to be about 2 weeks behind in the entries and the cutoff is this weekend isnt it?

There is no cut-off per se... the entry fees just increase.
So, if what I'm seeing is correct, we're going to have a crapload of subies! :) Hehehe.
I for one am very excited for at this time I do beleive we'll have enough entries to have our own class.
I'm not going to celebrate just yet, but be sure I'll celebrate in Topeka.

I think we're there-let's get 1 more for Tom
Well, folk, by my count we're there, and its just a matter of finding one more to save Tom from the big changeover....unless he can't resist taking KC on....... hehehe
11 on the list officially
KC's is in
Natasha's husband's is in
KillsbugsFast (ITR fm OH-)sez on SCCAForum his is in
the 2 2.5 RSs per rlp
Jeff's co-driver
That's 17, and Tom makes 18.
KC, like you, I'm seriously excited!
When the first Nationals came down, I was right at the end of 7 years of racing pretty seriously; decided not to come, got out of the sport for 30 years. With my oldest son coming of driving age (and getting a Rex) late last summer, decided it was time to jump back in. The (re-) learning process this season's been....fun. Gotten back in touch w/ the....old fire, even though I know I'm gonna get trounced by.....most of you, but I'm gonna be working hard to make sure its not by all of you. Heck, I'm even taking my son out of school for 4 days, for crew and the experience. He's still on a learner's permit (i.e. needs another in the car w/ him), or I'd have signed him up as a tire warmer. He's run a school and a couple local events; have to worry about him catching me next year....
Telll you guys what, a good bottle of champagne for the "we did it" celebration is on me. I am really looking forward to meeting you all. We can coordinate getting together as we get closer.
Now, where's that one more.....
Regards,
Len

ok....I'm in
I'll be on a plane until 1:50pm sunday but I'm officially off the fence. An all night drive to Topeka to help you guys out an fight it out for the last place spot in STX. I am also willing to consider a co-driver for my car to shore up the ranks in STX. I've given one of my local teamates the first option to co-drive and expect to get his answer by Friday.
I will be faxing my registration in tomorrow. Car #13, STX

If you do an all nighter on sunday you can sleep 3/4 of the day on monday and then cope out in the afternoon to walk the course still. You should be in ok shape.

one more thing
Hopefully a gentleman/womans agreement will suffice here-
I have a 4eat wagon and have installed a B+M racing tranny cooler. One read of the rulebook states that a Trans cooler puts one in SMod. My utilization of the cooler is to proect the tranny from heat damage during lite towing or brake stalling for launches. It does not function as a performance enhancing mod. I actually consulted with Howard Duncan on this matter and his response was that it might be protestable at nats but that it wouldn't result in a DQ due to the fact that the tranny is stock and the likely outcome might be that Tranny coolers would have allowance/disallowance for future events.
So what do you think gang?
Willman

Willman,
Really glad to hear you're gonna make it! Enjoy the drive.
I have no problem whatsoever w/ your cooler. Wouldn't think anyone else would either.....
Tom,
Just couldn't resist a dig on the shirt. I REALLY hope you can land the DS one, and glad you're not gonna have to do the Great Conversion. Participating in the champagne offer stands.

so whats the total count now?
What is the count of those actually signed up?
If we are on the bubble perhaps we could have a pitch in and recruit another driver at the event to double drive and push us to the 18 entrant number.

Well, in response to Willmans question, by my count (see earlier msg) when he jumped in, he made 18 w/o Tom
HOWEVER, "official" will be when SCCA gets 'em posted on the Nats web page, I'd assume.
That, as we've all seen is not an instantaneous process...
I haven't checked it yet this morning.
My "count" is based on posted official, plus folk on this board and SCCAforums, saying "sent mine in".
So, if everyone who says they've sent theirs in does, and they don't ....get lost, we're there.
Beating the bushes for a couple, a few more, is a good idea, for sure. Bringing in a second driver, or 2 looks like a Plan B that WILL get us there, even if. I'm certainly open to the possibility, just a little worried on having enough rubber...
I'm hoping by Monday the official list will have us all, and we WILL be there.

bump
Glad to see that it's probably going to happen. I thought about helping out, but especially since it looks like there will be 18 entries, I'm going to pass for this year. I was in Topeka for the Midwest Divisional Championship a couple of weeks ago, and got a good taste of the general driving skill and car preparation level at a large event. We drove one of the Nationals courses from last year on the second day, and it was my first real event on concrete. I hope to go to more large events, including the Nationals, next year, and plan to be a little less slow by then. ;)
So good luck to everybody, and I'll see you all next year! :D

17 at least!
My name didn't shwo up and I faxed my entry last Friday, mid-day. so for sure we have 17 and if anyone else sent registrayions on friday we are good to go!
Don't forget my idea for a pitch in to recruit additional co-drivers if need be to push us over the bubble if we are still short a week or so before the event.
