holy crap man..if you could make that fifth design in black..I want one
Turn in Concepts 11-27-2006 09:43 PM

You chuck a bit into the chuck and make a jig and chuck the bar blank into the tool holder with the face of the gear parallel to the bit. you then run the blank into the bit, index it for next tooth or tooth root and repeat.

At least that's how I picture it in my head.

Oh, and who said it has to be gear driven. you can cut pulleys all day long on a lathe and drive it that way....

Black anodizing is possible. I have to have a huge number of pieces to do in a group though otherwise it would cost waay too much.
wangless 11-28-2006 02:58 AM

I'll take a #2 in black if you ever get enough pieces :)
russd32 11-28-2006 10:14 AM

I love the new knobs! They look very nice.

If enough people are serious about it, I will get it done.

I will begin machining the STi 6-speed shift knob tomorrow. Pics will be up upon completion
G3Red04WRX 11-29-2006 01:09 PM

Just got my shift knob today (the latest one shown with the long taper) and i have to say, NICE WORK. The pictures don't do this thing justice.

Thanks again for the shift knob, it looks great and I will appreciate it for a long time to come. Keep up the good work.

Seeing these creations in person really show why TiC is so interested in selling your work.

STi 6-speed Shift Knob

IS HERE!

I just completed the first aluminum STi 6-speed shift knob which will screw directly onto the shift lever in place of the stock piece. It has a recess in the underside which is wide and deep enough to allow the reverse lockout ring to slide up into it (same dimensions as stock). It is internally threaded 1" deep with the STi 12x1.25 tap.

Dimensions are:
Height: 2.0"
Diameter: 1.5" on top, 1.2" on bottom
Weight: Approx same as stock, will take gram measurement tomorrow.
I test-drove it on my WRX for a couple minutes and it feels just right. Not balky, not too light, good size, easy to grip, good weight. I can make a different design, but I felt like doing this for the 1st ever Piston knob for the STi ;)

#1 the vendor is the only who can advertise and sell these shift knobs on NASIOC.

#2 You as the distributer can answer questions about them but cannot sell or link to threads selling them, that is conisidered advertising.

#3 The vendor selling them must post in the appropriate for sale section in the vendor classifieds if and when they are IN STOCK.

Any further threads in the non-designated areas will result in warnings for you and your vendor.

its only fair to all vendors on this site that everyone follows the rules.
