Just one question, when someone asks to see some pics, etc. of what neons look like on an STi, why does no one put up pics and just insult someones taste. If you dont like them, thats fine, but why put your opinion on a thread that asks for some pics? We all have one common similarity, our Subaru's, so why cant we help out a little.

Because VERY few STi owners out there are going to put neon's on their car (sans the few spoiled kids who had mommy and daddy buy their cars after seeing 2F2F). That's why you are getting the responses you are here.....this is just like the BOV issue and the CAI issue. If you know how the majority responds to a certain question/comment, why ask if you aren't ready to hear what you already know? :rolleyes: Now as far as neon goes...if you like it do it. I have always been a fan of led underglow kits, they don't drain your battery, they are reliable and they won't get destroyed when driving through deep snow. The purpose of customizing a car is making it how you like, screw everybody else's tastes, I am not in it to impress or get attention and I hope no one else is.
Anyway, I have a WRX w/ blue neons in the trunk and attached to the underbody. I was at first very hesitant, but a friend made it a christmas gift so I went with it. I have to say I have done all mods to my car myself and looking at the list its not rice or APC parts, I have covered about every spectrum and done many things twice over or more, parts come off and go on until it is just how I want it, some parts come off and don't even get replaced because just cause it is aftermarket or cost money doesn't mean I like it more. The neons were one of the biggest pains in the @$$ to install of all things, flame all you want and call me 'fagtastic', I could care less. Custom mounting them, routing wires, hooking up remote kit and finishing all wiring under the hood was a pain but after all is said and done, they look pretty good and even classy to me and my friends. I never run them on the street and rarely even go to events/shows. I just turn them on at night for my own enjoyment or upon request while the car is parked.
I don't hang out with the import crowd but rather with the exotic/business-class crowd, first due to import owners being mostly ignorant pricks who 'know everything' and second, due to that, I would like to reclaim some respect with other car entushiasts. Regardless of all that, the friends I hang out with love the neon and overall look, they own a $100k BMW, a Porsche GT2, a Ferrari 575M Maranello, a $100k Mercedes Benz, a Bently Continental GT, etc etc etc. I only have two friends in the import crowd because all the other guys I meet just want to blow steam and don't respect anyone elses work. These two import guys are down to earth and make it fun, we don't care who is faster or if each other likes neons or not. If import drivers would realize its not all about competition all the time and an occassional wave is a fun thing, the whole thing would be more fun. I sold my Supra TT partly because of all this crap and the WRX crowd is overall better about it than the Supra crowd was, I can usually at least get a wave from a fellow Subaru owner.
ANYWAY .... TO THE ORIGINAL POSTER .... I will get pics up sometime but for now, you can see the rest of my car w/o the neons turned on here though pics are outdated, now the exterior consists of only pinstriping: [url]http://www.cardomain.com/id/sagelwwawrx[/url]

For clarification, I never called anyone trashy. I wrote that neon applications are tacky and trashy. Nearly everytime I have seen them, it's been accompanied by a 3 foot park bench spoiler, a loud leaking n1 style exhuast, and mismatched steelies. Sure it's expressing themselves, but it doesn't take away the fact that most people will shake their heads at it.
But hey, whatever floats your neon underglowed boat.
Next time I see something I disagree, I'll be sure to give them a thumbs up and laugh later behind their backs since they can't seem to take it.

There is nothing better than having multi-color neon on a Bently.....true balla' there. ;) The next best thing is when folks go out and by expensive AMG Mercedes (and stuff along those lines) and then go to Discount Tire for 20" rims that cost less than those factory AMG's would.
