prosport gauges?

wasnt aware of this brand before I saw them on fastwrx.com. I went to their official website and they now offer an electronic boost gauge (only mech boost offered on fastwrx.com) with a full start up sweep for like 44 bucks....i watched a video demo of their product and they look really really nice. Can anyone vouch for this brand? I searched but only found one thread..not much info
I wanna order it really bad...the price seems too good to be true though. http://www.prosportgauges.com
The electronic boost gauge is currently only offered in amber/white
anyone?
UPDATE:
INSTALLED! love these gauges totally reccomend them.
Cheap, great looking, functional, dont NEED a controller to have good gauges. Buy these

I've got a full set, had em for like 6 months or so. They work great and are cheap. In real bright sunlight it's a little hard to read them, but they are still readable.
| Chp_Stix | 09-09-2006 02:10 PM |
yeah hey i like them alot, I would be interested in these if i didnt already have autometers, but if and when my autometers need replacing i would consider trying those..... beware of cheap guages though.....

I actually just talked to someone from the company on the phone for a while just now...really helpful, nice guy too
| slvr02scooby | 09-09-2006 03:10 PM |
I've had them in my car for about a year now when they were the first set of gauges Daddy's SCP started selling and they still work great, very readable, and you'll get plenty of compliments ;)

alright....I ordered the amber/white electric boost and oil temp gauges...gonna mount them in an autometer gauge cluster bezel. I cant wait to install these.

I bought and installed the Prosport 60mm Series electrical boost gauge last week. $53.00 shipping included. So far the gauge works well. Mounting stand and sun visor included. Maybe I little hard to see during the day, but then again, my eye-sight isn't that great. I'd like to purchase the 60mm EGT and Oil Pressure gauge through Prosport but these types of gauges are not yet available in the 2 3/8" size.

I recently heard that their mechanical boost gauge was tested by some shop to be more accurate than the DFI and Greddy at higher boost levels (I think over 25psi). I'll find out more for you folks later.
Other than that... if you order directly, service is top notch. I have their new electronic boost gauge waiting for my car and a friend of mine is selling his Defi's to get more Prosports.

hopefully this company gets huge, and drives down the price point for gauges. think of what else you could have done with 800 bucks instead of buyingthe defi gauges.........
I like their "we dont need no stinkin controller" slogan as well...one thing I always hated about higher end gauges was the fact that they force you into buying their controllers just to use the gauges....

Customer serivce is great too. Steve emailed me back asap when I asked for an order conf and shipping details, very nice!
Are there any tutorials on how to install these? I've got the 3 going into an a-piller mount whenever they arrive. :) (Oil temp, electrical boost & voltage)
omg - another reply from Steve, damn he's fast! :D

Yeah, I just ordered these with the same setup as you are doing w/o the voltage. Found all the wires I need on the A/C, Radio, and stock boost plug. I'll post the color combination in a little while.
Customer service is one of the best I have seen. I had a shipping issue, and they took care of it and even sent me a free t-shirt. I even emailed them a question last night and received a response at 12:05am on a friday night!!!

Yup I have 3 myself, awsome bang for the buck IMHO. FYI, if you make them white for the day and amber for the night they are easier to see in the sunlight.

I would like to see 60mm gauges with green backlight and yellow needles (colors of stock 2002-2003 cluster).
| Scooby921 | 10-02-2006 08:36 AM |
Prosport gauges are pretty sweet for the cost. I have the green backlit set and they look great. They are quite a bit brighter than the gauge cluster though. I had thought they'd match...but its a bit too bright.
In any case, you can't get a better looking gauge for less. 3 gauges + pod + Defi look, for less than the cost of 1 Defi gauge!!!

Just a thought Prosport Gauges, why don't you get a Vendor status and host a Group Buy? I bet you could get 50-100 orders in one group buy, I know I'd be in on it. Do a group buy of like 3 gauges and a mounting solution for one price, bet it would boost your business even more. Great product. Definitely my next purchase for my STI.

Yellow needles to match the wrx gauges in the 02-03. But I would personally prefer yellow needles with blue back lighting.

Electric Boost Gauge in green would get my $. Any chance this will happen before Christmas?
| Prosport Gauges | 10-02-2006 02:35 PM |
OK, Yellow needles will be looked into...Thanks for the suggestion. Just off the cuff I am thinking this is do-able but on as a limited release and would probably add $1-$3 to the price for the one off custom pointer-will that influence your decision ?? Maybe a small production run of 50-100 pcs.? I would need more feedback though as only 2-3 people have voiced an opinion about the yellow Pointers.
GB-I am talking with the administrators now regarding vendor status, but it looks like this won't happen until the very end of the month the earliest as I will be out town most of Oct. on Business.

yea the up in price wouldn't bother me at all, could you say something about the construction of the gauges, for example I am planning either two routes: putting blue led's in my cluster ---> blue lettering with green lit needles (yellow needles + blue light) or getting an overlay for blue which would yield blue lettering with yellow lit needles (not the route I'd like to take). Now, could you guys make a gauge with yellow pointers with all blue led lighting ie. blue lettering with green lit needles? I understand my preference isn't exactly too common, but I'm guessing there would be some interest as a lot of people do the blue led swap in their 02-03's. Now, if not, is it possible to go into the gauge myself and do some work on the led's?

1-3 more dollars would not be bad for yellow pointers. I would be willing to spend that.

DOH!!!! Well, I'll be buying it when it comes in. Pictures will soon be posted as soon as I can take some of my Mech. Boost and EGT. I also have the dual gauge bezel from autometer.
Do you know if a dimmer can be hooked up to them though? Or is there a way to wire them into the factory dimmer?

The Gauges would be the same colors options as they are now just with Yellow pointers. They are not changeable, they are sealed with no way to open them.
I have heard of a few people adding a dimmer to them(I don't know how they did it though)-From our standpoint there is a fine line between too bright at night and not readable in direct sunlight. If we add dimmers the price goes up considerably.

Here's my review that I did a while ago on them. Still pretty happy with them, I'm thinking of replacing the mech. boost gauge hose though with something more like the lines in the engine compartment. The thought it that it will help with accuracy of the guage.
Red/Green/White FTW!

I would want yellow pointers with the blue back lighting, though I'm guessing some people would want yellow with the wrx look gauges (green/white). Any plans on making the blue gauges dual color? Just to make sure, the mech boost gauge doesn't sweep like the others right?
