is it ok to have the gauges powered but not connected to all of the senders at the moment? i have the performance electrical boost, egt, and oil pressure but didnt have everything i needed to run the egt and oil senders...is it fine that they are powered and not fully connected?
| Prosport Gauges | 10-21-2007 12:20 AM |
yes, it will not hurt the gauge, just not show any reading.

give us a call today (monday) in the late afternoon. I doubt the sender-if you are getting no reading at all-sounds like a connection issue.

Love the gauge great product...except. This opening ceremony beep is the most annoying thing on earth, honestly I cover my ears when I start up the car. I didn't see anything thing in this thread on how to turn it off. There is absolutely no reason for the drawn out beep anyways, get rid of it!

On our FAQ page & in the instructions is directions on how to turn off the beep on the Premium Series Gauges.

I just put my oil pressure gauge in. When I let off the throttle, the gauge seems to stick for a second, then it drops to 80psi quickly, sticks again for a second and then sweeps down normally. Does it every time. Is this normal?

Not 100% sure, but sounds normal as I would think it takes a second for the gauge to react.

My boost gauge is acting weird too. During quick acceleration, 1st thru 3 gear, sometimes the gauge doesn't go to full boost. Sometimes it only goes to 5 psi at WOT!!! I know it's off because I'm data logging too and seen full boost on that. I thought I might have a leak, but then when I do a gradual acceleration, the gauge will go to full boost. Any ideas?
| Prosport Gauges | 11-03-2007 02:14 PM |
are you using the in-line filter?
| stlb5 | 11-03-2007 02:45 PM |
yes I am
| Prosport Gauges | 11-04-2007 10:00 AM |
Hmmm, just for kicks I would try it without the filter and see if your reaction time changes and let us know?
| joeyd02 | 11-04-2007 10:56 AM |
I got three same gauges as muhom1. EGT works fine, but the probe fell out one day and had to rig it back together. Boost works fine. But my Oil Pressure stays at 100psi. I installed the sensor to the M20 sandwich adapter plate

There is an approximate difference of $100 between buying three electric prosport gauges and three premium prosport gauges . . is it worth it? If so, WHY? Thanks.

I've seen 3 of their boost gauges not reading accurately. Maybe their not calibrated for the high elevation 5800ft above sea.

Besides the cool factor of peak recall, the premium series gauges are constructed different. they use a stepper motor to run the gauge. they are the most accurate in the industry. Just to give you a perspective Defi uses stepper motors also. Keep in mind the warning feature is sweet, nobody can stare at the gauges all the time, so it is good to be warned when something goes wrong immediately, instead of 5 minutes later when you see smoke, by then the damage is done.
No sales pitch-2 months ago we had a guy call us up to thank us for saving his motor. He was running premium OP gauge and the oil cooler line burst and he lost 4 quarts of oil in about 15 seconds. Our prosport gauge immediately flashed and beeped, he looked at it and saw 0 OP and shut the car off and coasted to the side of the road & discovered the problem and no damage occured.

One of the guys in TX who just got his boost gauge from them had it go out 2 days later, and we're at a few hundred feet ele. Not sure how it was reading when it was working though, he has a new sender unit in the mail.

Quick question... I've wired my gauges into the clock, and when I have the car on, they are white, with lights on, they are green, and when I turn the car off, they stay red... I wired it up as follows... What did I do wrong?
Black - Black
Red - Blue w/red strip
White - Yellow w/Blue stripe
Orange - Pink w/blue stripe
Please help as my battery is draining unless I unplug it... Thanks!

no, if it is a mechanical gauge all you need to do is get power from somewhere in the vehicle and run a vacuum hose from the engine bay to the gauge through the firewall. Shouldnt be more than 1-2 hours! i did mine in 45 min including drilling mounting holes in the steering wheel cover!

yup yup, good to know im not crazy. my electric/peak 60mm boost gauge is higher than my ecu boost reading by about 3 psi as well at the higher levels. wtf?! i dont have the time to read through everything, but has prosport addressed this at all?
EDIT: As of September 2008, I was contacted by Ryan West at Prosport (HR Manager) through private message. He had seen my posts bashing prosport, and I'm happy to say that after a year or so of having a faulty-reading Prosport Premium Series Electric boost gauge, Prosport finally made good. Ryan sent me his new version 3 electrical boost sender, as well as an inline filter and wire harness, all free of charge! All I can say is thanks! It's about time! I'm very happy and even though I cannot test the new sender just yet, due to a blow transmission in my wrx, I am fully confident that it will fix the +3 psi error I was seeing. I had tried to contact prosport about this issue a few times in the past, and I was told that a new sender was in the testing phase. After a few months, I basically gave up hope and decided to live with an inaccurate boost gauge. Well Ryan contacted me, and made everything better. So from this gesture alone, I would be happy to buy from prosport again, and I would recommend their products to others. Thanks Prosport!

remember when the car is on but motor off even the ECU reads 0 pressure and gives you the pressure light..the gauge only knows when it is turned on (12V power and trigger) theres no way for it to know if the engine is actually running.
