Ultimate Collision Center 03-02-2007 10:46 AM

no dimming since they are led...
bump909 03-02-2007 02:02 PM

I heard that the Prosport WRX Green gauges are coming out in 60mm very soon. :)
Ultimate Collision Center 03-02-2007 02:48 PM

Love them and getting more very soon that will go into triple gauge pod on the center console.
Vahnatai 03-02-2007 03:53 PM

I hear they arent very accurate gauges.
sluflyer06 03-02-2007 03:57 PM
I hear they arent very accurate gauges.
anyone have any arguments to this? I want to switch to Prosport but they need to be accurate.

Also, who else would really like to see the premium series available in Green/White?
Ziggyrama 03-02-2007 03:57 PM
I hear they arent very accurate gauges.
Where did you hear about that? What were the circumstances? My EGT readings are dead on. I am going to connect my boost gauge this weekend so I'll let you know as well since I have multiple points of reference against the boost gauge.
jason.g 03-02-2007 05:19 PM

actually IA Performance in AZ tested the boost gauges against Greddy, Autometer, etc...the Prosport was THE most accurate.

search is your friend.
kirkeemonster 03-02-2007 05:46 PM

They are accurate. Accurate compared to data logging via UTEC....and having the gauges from programs on my laptop looking at them and the gauges, they are VERY accurate.
Vahnatai 03-02-2007 06:20 PM
Where did you hear about that? What were the circumstances? My EGT readings are dead on. I am going to connect my boost gauge this weekend so I'll let you know as well since I have multiple points of reference against the boost gauge.
I've heard things like boost gauges reading 3 psi off. Stuff like that.
Ultimate Collision Center 03-02-2007 06:20 PM

yea all my experience with them they have shown to be very very accurate...I wouldn't sell an item unless they were...
bmms8 03-02-2007 07:56 PM

i just installed my blue mech. prosport 52 mm gauges today and they work great. only thing is that it hangs just a tad below 0 when off but thats fine. also, i didnt connect the orange wire to anything, do i need to or can i just leave it? thanks!
Ultimate Collision Center 03-02-2007 09:18 PM

I want to buy some 60 MM Green Gauges

Specifically in Electric Boost, EGT, and Oil Pressure
Ultimate Collision Center 03-03-2007 12:03 AM

they aren't out yet...
R6_rider 03-03-2007 09:04 PM

i have heard of issues of reliability and accuracy. i was wonding if anyoen has had this problem before i order. Its a little scary becouse the price is realy cheap compaired to others so im kind of skeptical. "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR" is what ive always been told
makeitlookeasy 03-03-2007 09:14 PM

I've had mine for a month now. They work flawlessly so far. I couldn't ask for any better. A little bright but I'd say its worth it compared to 800 defi's.
G3Red04WRX 03-04-2007 08:42 AM
I've had mine for a month now. They work flawlessly so far. I couldn't ask for any better. A little bright but I'd say its worth it compared to 800 defi's.
Seconded. I have the same feelings for my triple pack i bought from Prosport.

On the other hand thou, after getting used to the brightness of the prosports green at night, i actually feel that the dash cluster is too dim instead. Id like to be able to brighten my cluster to match the prosport gauges.
bluemax189 03-04-2007 09:20 AM

^ couldnt you wire up the power to a potentiometer and control the dimming on the prosports, or wire them up to the factory dimmer to have matching dimming settings.
flipincanadian 03-04-2007 05:08 PM

^any attempts to dim the prosports will effect readings. i have much the same opinion as G3Red04WRX, i think the prosports are great but my cluster is too dim. They did take a lil bit of getting used to though.
Wannascooby 03-04-2007 05:27 PM

The only problem I've had is the oil pressure gauge stopped working... Boost is accurate as can be though
ldf_wrxfan88 03-04-2007 06:46 PM

These are pics of my prosport gauges. I have Mechanical Boost and Air to Fuel/Voltmeter Gauge. These gauges look good and are accurate.

Ziggyrama 03-05-2007 12:09 PM

OK, si I yanked my stock boost gauge over the weekend and installed the prosport electronic boost gauge. BTW, my stock one was actually very accurate. I took the car for a spin and the gauge appears to be on the money. I hit 21psi on a 3rd gear pull like I should. Partial throttle boost seem accurate as well. It looks excellent as well.
Ultimate Collision Center 03-05-2007 12:12 PM

nice, post some pics up, what color did you go with...
Ziggyrama 03-05-2007 12:32 PM
nice, post some pics up, what color did you go with...
Will try to do it this evening after work. I took off my not-connected oil pressure gauge for now and replaced with boost gauge on the pillar. It's green/white 52mm series. I spent yesterday running the wiring for the gauge and some additional wiring from the engine bay into the compartment in anticipation of some extra gauges I'll be getting soon. This way, I won't have to take everything apart again and power, ground and illumination is already prewired and ready to go. I'm planning on adding triple pod in the center console with oil pressure gauge I have now and adding oil temp and fuel pressure. It will complete my gauge setup and with self custom tuning, you can't have too many of those to make sure things are running optimally.

Who makes this gauge pod setup?
Ziggyrama 03-05-2007 01:51 PM
Who makes this gauge pod setup?
I got the pod here:

http://www.gaugepods.com/subaru.html

I went with the gray option since the pillar is gray in an 04 WRX. It matches the interior very well and looks very good. Fitment is B+. It doesn't come perfectly flush in the corner where the dash meets the windshield and in the top corner, it could stick out a little bit more to mate a little better with the rubber seal. These are just nit picks since I am VERY anal when it comes to this stuff. All the things I mentioned are not really noticable unless you know what to look for. It does look sweet with the gauges and matches the interior color very well. Very clean setup which is what I like. I can take more pics tonight to show it off some more.

I get a LOT of people staring at the gauges when driving by at night on a freeway since you can see them through the window when coming up on the car from behind and they look very nice....or maybe it's my bald head :)
noyskie10 03-05-2007 05:01 PM

on 04 wrx is the boost gauge a "machanical or electrical" sorry for the noob question just asking to place the right order.

Are you asking about the stock one or the prosport one? The stock is mechanical. The prosport one is up to you. You can either get the electronic one or the mechanical one.

I was wondering, why does the boost needle always seem to be off by just a bit when it's at 0?
Ziggyrama 03-05-2007 08:39 PM
I was wondering, why does the boost needle always seem to be off by just a bit when it's at 0?
My guess is because you're not exactly at sea level. When I log atmospheric pressure in the logger, I've seen it reported at slightly less than 1 atmosphere. I'm at 200ft elevation.
sssp 03-05-2007 08:46 PM

I finally got my EGT gauge and it is a little too small for my autometer bezel. Anyone have any suggestions on how to get it snug in there? I will probably just wedge some paper inbetween. My boost gauge fits perfect but the EGT gauge is too loose.

i have heard that mech is still more accurate. i just got my 52 mm blue ones and they work really well. it does hang right below 0 when off but its fine. only thing is that it isnt to bright at day, and its kind of hard to see the needle sometimes.
Ultimate Collision Center 03-06-2007 12:03 AM

yea the blues are harder to see in day, thats why the amber and green come in white as well, the white is very clear in the day and is by far the nicest looking in person (imho)...I personally have the blue in my evo and you get used to the brightness in the day...
Dragonbreak 03-06-2007 12:06 AM

ATi, I'm selling it if you're interested
mathetes 03-08-2007 12:02 AM

I have the white/amber premium egt/oil pressure. I had the shop install them (www.speedelement.com) and this is there first time installing Prosports. Anyhow, upon start up they do a full sweep and BEEP VERY LOUD, kind of annoying actually, also my oil pressure gauge flashes white/amber and beeps when the key is on ac?

Anyone else have these issues or is it a wiring problem?
Ultimate Collision Center 03-08-2007 12:11 AM

i think its seeing low pressure so its going off...i think...

You OP is just beeping because it's reading low pressure. If the shop wired your gauges up correctly you can control the BEEP. When you turn the key on and the start up sweep begins just hold down the PEAK button until the sweep is finished. That will disable the beep. The reason I say "if they wired the correctly" is if they didn't the gauge won't remember your setting an will reset every time you turn it off, thus you would have to disable the beep every startup.
