prosport gauges part 4

Sausage 03-28-2007 01:00 PM

So did anyone figure out the boost problem yet?

Mine reads 26psi max while cobb St reads only 19psi (which is what it should be for my setup)

then -27psi at idle
eggeegg 03-28-2007 01:01 PM

thanks. right now, from the gauge i have white to ACC and orange to ILL. that sounded correct to me. where are your white and orange wires going.
Superstar 03-29-2007 01:57 PM

hey guyz. i just recieved my mech. boost gauge for my 04 STi. i will put it where the original boost is (steering column). does anyone know if i need additional wiring? or am i fine with the length of wiring the comes with the prosport gauge. thanks.
Fred Fredburger 03-29-2007 02:15 PM

I find it easiest to tap into the appropriate wiring at the clock, so you may want to extend it. The back of the clock is labeled with what the wires are.

We've installed a bunch of these. The mechanical boost comes with really short wires. You're going to need to extend them to reach the clock wiring.
Ok, finally got a chance to take a couple of crappy pics of my EGT and new boost gauge setup, green/white 52mm series:

Mind if I ask who makes that double gauge A-pillar pod? Looks nice!

Thanks!

platinum05 04-04-2007 09:06 PM

ultimate cc-
i've been looking at the oilpressure, egt, and premium electronic boost guages, but have been hearing there may be an issue with one of these guages. i have an 05 wrx and will be buying an ati guage pod. will all these guages work with my car and what else will i need for install?

not yet...

My electric boost gauge doesnt make it up to 0 when reving in neutral, any ideas? double checked the wiring, seems fine.
Ultimate Collision Center 04-16-2007 07:55 PM

I take it you missed this part?
blindstuff 04-16-2007 08:49 PM

Really funny.

I left the senders tip open to air (no vacuum line isntalled)m if I turn on the switch the boost gauge starts and stays in this:

position
cucamelsmd15 04-16-2007 08:57 PM

You dont make boost without load. The electrical boost gauge reads like that by default. If you search, youll see what Im talking about.
blindstuff 04-16-2007 09:19 PM

I am aware of that. But before you make boost you leave vacuum, meaning it should go up to 0 before going in to boost, when im driving the car @ wot, the needle goes from about -23 in a quikc jump to about -3 and then slowly goes up with boost.

I think it is indicating wrong, as I tested today, im getting only 11 psi on the gauge, last time I logged I got 13 psi,I willplug in the laptop later tonight to get a comparison.

when are you planning to release the 60mm green/white gauges?

ill try and get an answer tomorrow

What's the difference between the Performance Gauges and the Premium Gauges?
Fred Fredburger 04-20-2007 07:14 AM

Premium gauges have warning and peak. Performance gauges have neither. It also looks like there is a link cable that goes between the Premium gauges so you only have to wire one of the gauges for power/ground/lighting.
StiPete 04-20-2007 10:33 AM

Here's some shots of my boost, egt, and oil temp Premiums:

It probably has been stated already but, will ProSport make some kind of 60mm Performance Gauges anytime soon?
Ultimate Collision Center 04-20-2007 12:02 PM

that they will, they already have 60mm normal gauges, which i have instock at the moment...
brain juice 04-20-2007 02:19 PM

I cant figure out the wiring on an 06. I got my boost gauge working but it only comes on green when I turn on the parking lights or the headlights, other wise it is blacked out.

What exactly are the connections that need to be made to the the labels on the clock.

I'm looking for white with no headlights and green with headlights.

Thanks.
thisxguy 04-20-2007 08:08 PM

Prosport gauges are great

cheap price
pretty accurate...one of the evo guys pressure tested them at work
and they looks nice
CHris73D 04-20-2007 10:37 PM

So I hooked up my electronic boost gauge. everything works as it should. The only thing I don't like about the gauge is that I can't see the needle during the day. I bought the green/white WRX color combo. The needle is nowhere near bright enough for a quick glance. I thought that there was something wrong with the gauge so I checked my EGT gauge that came in today. Same intensity. Looks like I'll be returning mine and getting a brand that's more visible during the day. I'm kind of sad because I had high hopes for the gauges.
Unlikely Hero 04-21-2007 03:25 PM

I've been having trouble with my electric boost gauge. When the car is off, but keyed on, the needle doesn't stop at 0 but a little below. Also when idleing, I'm getting 22in sometimes and 20 other times. Also if I switch the lights on and off, it makes the boost needle jump. Lastly how do you get all three gauges to sweep at the same time. mine do all at different times during startup.

are the premiums more red? My performance is more amber and slightly off from the cluster
are the premiums more red? My performance is more amber and slightly off from the cluster
They're a little more red than the cluster.
I have some pics of mine a few posts up.

Just in are the new warning lights available for any premium series gauge...fully plug and play...

Ultimate Collision Center 04-25-2007 11:52 AM

red will be out very soon, green will be a little more time...;)
Dragonbreak 04-25-2007 12:43 PM

Any idea when you can give out a date for the amber ones? I'm ready to buy with money in hand
Ultimate Collision Center 04-25-2007 01:36 PM

no exact eta, bascially whenever they show up at prosport...
IronMonkeyL255 04-25-2007 01:52 PM

I love my mech boost gauge, except the thing is CRAZY loud.

I know it will make noise, since I didn't get an electric gauge, but DAMN, my autometer mech boost gauge wasn't even 1/10th as noisy......
AllAWD 04-25-2007 04:34 PM

When will the electrical performance boost gauges in white/green be back in stock?

Is the only difference between performance electrical and premium boost gauge the peak feature?
Ultimate Collision Center 04-25-2007 05:42 PM

I have mech, elect and premium green/white instock and ready to go...
vikingRS 04-25-2007 06:35 PM

how did you guys secure the gauge into the cup? It comes with a black rubber band but this does not take up the slack in the cup and i'd rather not put tension on the wires to make sure the gauge doesn't move around.
vikingRS 04-26-2007 12:38 PM

Anyone?
Ultimate Collision Center 04-26-2007 12:41 PM

I usually just use the one supplied but you can add a rubberband or too for added security...
evohuntinwrx 04-26-2007 11:08 PM

Hey guys I was thinking of getting the tach (premium) and using it to double as a kind of STI-ish shift light withought having to get a bigger tubular shiftlight...what do you guys think?
roccer 04-26-2007 11:13 PM

i can't decide between the mechanical or electric green/white boost gauge.
IronMonkeyL255 says its loud, tho how loud is "loud"? while the full sweep the electrical does is nice, it wouldnt match with the stock WRX cluster so that pushes me towards the mech. also havent installed a mech boost gauge before so of course theres the worry of "will i screw somethin up." any thoughts/suggestions for my incoherent ramblings?

all i really want it something rather accurate and reliable to view my boost pressure that looks good too. and for the price these seem hard to beat :)
Ultimate Collision Center 04-26-2007 11:20 PM

if your debating and leaning towards the mechanical just go mechanical you can't go wrong either way...I have plenty of both instock, pm me if your interested...

I just got a couple gauges (EGT and boost). They certainly look awesome.
