i got the green/white electrical boost and egt from ultimate CC and they kick ass for the price. they are mad bright and they match my oem cluster. and if you wire them differently they will light up red like the sti clusters (incase you decide to change your cluster colors)

my advice to you above who have trouble deciding between mec boost and elec boost. get the electrical boost. it is way more responsive than my autometer gauges that i used to have, and its dead silent. not to mention it is possibly the cheapest elec boost gauge ever.
Ultimate Collision Center 04-29-2007 08:53 PM

thanks for the kind words...
ptirmal 04-30-2007 10:53 AM

Do the premium gauges only come in electrical? I assume it only does the starting sweep in an electrical gauge, right?
Ultimate Collision Center 04-30-2007 10:55 AM

all gauges do the sweep, and yes premium only come in electric...
Unlikely Hero 04-30-2007 12:22 PM
I've been having trouble with my electric boost gauge. When the car is off, but keyed on, the needle doesn't stop at 0 but a little below. Also when idleing, I'm getting 22in sometimes and 20 other times. Also if I switch the lights on and off, it makes the boost needle jump. Lastly how do you get all three gauges to sweep at the same time. mine do all at different times during startup.

bump, anyone else have problems like this???

I can't figure out how to wire my gauges so they are different durring the day/night. I have the white/green gauges in the clock pod location, thought I could use the illumination from the clock to change colors, but doesn't work. I currently can only get one color at a time. Any help is greatly appreciated.

im still debating between mech and electric boost gauge.... wont have money for them either way for a week or so (need to buy several books for school and they aint cheap...) which one is "easier" to install for a relative green DIY'er like myself?

the prices are only like ~$20 different so it will probably come down to a coin flip once i have the money on hand.
Ultimate Collision Center 05-01-2007 06:11 PM

mech is always easier to install...let me know got both instock, do you go to RIT, if so i go to SUNY geneseo...I will be going to the track this wednesday and friday over at NYIRP.com
ptirmal 05-01-2007 09:23 PM

What exactly are the peak and hold functions of the premiums, I couldn't find much info on the website
Ultimate Collision Center 05-02-2007 12:12 PM

they give you the ability to set a limit say for boost, if it goes over it will beep and flash a different color to warn you and it also gives you the ability to play back what you just ran, so if your tuning you can see what your peak boost was or egt...
JLwrx06 05-03-2007 09:11 AM

does anyone know where I can get a pod for just 2 gauges. I am interested in the 52mm prosport egt along with oil temp or pressure. I was looking on the prosport site and they didn't have a pod. thanks. help would be appreciated.
Fred Fredburger 05-03-2007 09:40 AM

What about the Autometer dash bezel?

I got mine from Oakos (link here).
vikingRS 05-03-2007 09:59 AM

How is the fit of the gauges in the dash bezel? I'm disappointed with the fit in the prosport gauge cup, it flops around in there, even with additional rubber bands on it.
Fred Fredburger 05-03-2007 10:10 AM
How is the fit of the gauges in the dash bezel? I'm disappointed with the fit in the prosport gauge cup, it flops around in there, even with additional rubber bands on it.
The fit isn't bad, but it's not factory. The top of the bezel seems to be a little shinier than the factory bezel, so you get some reflection from the gauges (you can see it in the image). It stuck out like a sore thumb when I first installed the bezel, but after a little while I completely forgot about it. I think it would be pretty simple to spray some flat black on the inside top of the bezel if you never forget about it.

The other problem with that bezel is that if you're planning on keeping the gaueges mounted straight (with the top of the gauge at 12 o'clock) you will need to use an extra piece of metal to mount the prosport u-bracket. The bracket mounts on the gauges between 3 and 9 o'clock and there wasn't room for it with the bezel. I didn't want to dremel my u-bracket, but I believe you can mount the u-bracket between 1 and 7 o'clock, but you'll need to get a little piece of metal to go between the mounting posts.

I dont want to read every single post. So, what is the general consensus about these gauges? worth the money? or would the maddads be a better decision.
Ultimate Collision Center 05-03-2007 02:22 PM

theres people that have issues with them, but its 99.9% from either shipping or install errors and either way they are always warranteed, I have sold over a thousand gauges this spring so far and have had 3 warrantee claims, one shipping and two install...i started selling them after I bought a set for my personal car, couldn't believe the quality for the money...

I was in the same boat as you. For the price difference it's hard not to take a shot at prosport. I saved over $100 buying my 2 prosport gauges over Maddad.

I haven't got mine yet, but my thinking is when things are bad, people complain a lot. Lots of people run these gauges and the problems reported seem few and the flaws (original EGT probe burning out) were corrected/upgraded by Prosport.
ok mine is busted and i have no idea how. One day i turn it on, it does the sweep, the the needle pegs to 26PSI and keeps flashing different colors....had it for about 1 week....
Mine does this after a 40 minute drive (highway)
any suggetions?
Ultimate Collision Center 05-04-2007 10:22 AM

the only issues with these gauges are the installers...yes there are a few dead sensors but I haven't had 2 of those in the hundreds of gauges I have sold...if its pegging to 26psi then its likely a bad wire connection as thats a default setting typically...

Heres the strange thing. This ONLY happens after driving for 40 minutes
or more. It gets stuck there as long as the engine is running. I've
tried jiggling the sensor and the connectors.

Heres the thing. If I turn off the ignition and wait 1 minute, it
begins to operate normally, but after a little while longer, it does the
same thing.

If I turn it off and back on immediately, sometimes it gets stuck still.
Though opening ceremony works fine.

This tells me that it's not a wiring issue. I suspect maybe a heat
issue affecting the sensor. I've really banged my head over this
and checked all the connections.

Again, this doesn't happen unless I've driving about 40 miles. It's just
really annoying :(

Maybe it's a stressed wire that becomes disconnected when it heats up?
 Maybe I'll rewire everything again when I have time. :(
Ultimate Collision Center 05-04-2007 10:41 AM

Man thats a strange issue, where do you have the sensor located, heat could possibly be affecting it but I doubt it since the car after 10 mins of driving is as hot as its going to get unless you are abusing the snot out of it...keep me updated when you try and rewire it or figure out the issue, this is not normal and should not be happening, I will try to brainstorm a bit and see if I can think of a plausable explanation of this occurence...

How do you turn the gauge on mute? i have the premium boost gauge.

I was told by prosport to hold the set button down, turn the ignition on, keep holding it down til the gauge does its opening ceremony/sweep and when its done release the button. But it does nothing
SimonJ 05-06-2007 08:24 PM

how do these gauges compare to say, DEFI?

I am guessing that you do not have your red wire connected to constant 12v power. ie the gauge will not retain memory. so it does not remember what your setting is after you turn off your car. So, follow the directions and connect the red wire to constant 12v power and the problem will be fixed.

Just got my green/white Boost and EGT. Fedex sure is slow, but I can't fault Dan. He had it ready to go.

Now to figure out which wires to tap. Anyone got a link to install instructions?

I'll be searching.

Just to add my .02, I bought mine from Mach V, got elec. boost, egt, op. I ended up with one of the bad EGT sensors. Called Prosport up directly, they took my cc number for reference and sent me out a new probe that day. Had it by the end of the week, look and overall quality of the new probe was night and day to the original one (much beefier connections and wire protection). Took the old one out, wired up the new one and everything worked perfectly. Put the old one back in the same packaging they sent the new one in and shipped it back to them. Never even charged my card thru the whole process cause it was so fast. Prosoprt Gauges definitely has top notch customer service, and once i have a need for another gauge or 2, im definitely putting another order in with them. They really are the best value for the dollar.

Thanks to ULTIMATE CC I got some nice gauges. Prosport needs to make a cluster light kit since the OEM cluster is pathetically dim.

update: remounted my gauge. this time with a little brace i made (seen in the first pic) to hold it against the steering column. from this angle and with the flash it looks a bit more jagged and unprofesional as it does in person. but its in an area almost no one will ever see (wiper arm all the way down so you can see it in pic one. that piece + super sticky 3M double stick tape FTW!)

then some night pics with the gauge lit (OEM dash is so dim in comparison...)
