That won't work, the oil in the sump (oil pan) is not pressurized.

cucamelsmd15 has a good point.
Your picture shows the same spot as mine when the car is not running and the key is just in the on position. try driving the car and see if it goes above 0.

when its off alot of times the motor has vacum...
| mxboy15u | 04-22-2007 07:01 PM |
My electric boost gauge just began to do the same thing, the needle sits below zero. And no engine has vacuum after it is off, not in the manifold anyways...
| Ultimate Collision Center | 04-22-2007 07:03 PM |
and do you guys have the metal filter in...
| evohuntinwrx | 04-22-2007 07:31 PM |
hmmm see why are all these prosports sitting below zero? is this a defect?
| Ultimate Collision Center | 04-22-2007 07:34 PM |
when installed correct there is no issue, i have installed 20+ at the shop and haven't had an issue yet...
| mxboy15u | 04-22-2007 07:38 PM |
My filter is installed...what could be the problem? My boost readings are also all over the place, one minute it reads 23 psi and the next 19 (what it should be reading).
| Ultimate Collision Center | 04-22-2007 07:46 PM |
what vacum line are you using and what t fitting?
| mxboy15u | 04-22-2007 07:53 PM |
Same vacuum line as my old boost gauge, which is the one that goes to the BPV, and the T fitting with the restrictor that was supplied with the boost gauge. I read somewhere on here that the sender needs to be grounded...is that true? How do you ground it if it is?
| B00st3dWRX | 04-22-2007 11:02 PM |
my autometer gauge used to sit below zero.....i dont think its a defect but Im installing mine tomorrow I will take some pix and let you know.
| Ultimate Collision Center | 04-22-2007 11:17 PM |
yea you have to ground the black wire...
| Trigun001 | 04-22-2007 11:33 PM |
yeah good ground is very important with these gauges. I went up a full wire size to make them work right. The senders work like a phone microphone. There is carbon powder behind a wall that can apply presure. The more pressure the less resistance (easier for electrons to flow) and therefore a reading. If the ground is off the gauge reads off, another reason you cant dim prosports lighting. It throws the gauge.
| Ultimate Collision Center | 04-22-2007 11:49 PM |
exactly...also they can't be dimmed since they are led, led is either on or off...
| cbarth3 | 04-23-2007 12:31 AM |
so if the car is off and it read below 0 could that indicate a faulty ground? I have also noticed while datalogging that it only goes to about 11 psi where the DL shows upwards of 13-14psi. oh yeah not to mention when idling it shows almost 20 on the vacum. I emailed prosport and he said the sender is pretty fragile and could have been damaged during shipping.

Mech. is the one you need. You will need to wire the Prosport up differently than the stock one (directions included).

Now, Now...You have to get the whole story. Many guys are NOT using the in-line filter. The Filter must be used. Inside the sender is a bladder that can be greatly affected by dirt, debris, fluid. that is what the filter is for!! to protect the sender. Shipping is just one way something can get damaged. I have seen guys drop them, step on them, smash them when drilling the hole in the firewall, etc.. Either way-We STILL COVER them under warranty for people.

yeah haven't gotten a chance to DL again between work and my rx8 being towed and no yesterday a lady rearending me. Going to do some DL on wednesday with a buddy so hopefully be able to see about the readings again.
by chance the question asked above "so if the car is off and it read below 0 could that indicate a faulty ground?" could this be true?

Ok so now my sender is off with the warmer weather. My idle is reading a whopping -25 to -30 and the gauge sits at -4 when the car is off and the lights on. Then when im at WOT I hit 14 maybe 15 when I should be hitting 17. Then again it just really warmed up here, should I wait a few days before being worried? do they need to recalibrate or something?
| B00st3dWRX | 04-23-2007 09:46 PM |
^^^ i just got done installing mine and @ idle the gauge is at -18 -20 when i blip the throttle it moves towards zero...however I took it for a test run and its hitting the correct boost. Why so much vacuum @ idle? Also I hooked up the A/F gauge (please dont flame yadda yadda light show blah blah) and it performs the startup sweep shows my voltage, however It will only read RICH and when the digital display switches to the A/F ratio it just blinks 10.0 @ me........wtf is up with it, I hooked it up the same as my autometer A/F which worked perfectly. * i am a stg 2 full catless with a custom tune and the rear O2 sensor is installed and plugged in * PLEASE HELP.

That looks perfectly normal to me. Mine idles around there too. That's what it's supposed to be doing.
As far as resetting the ECU, if it's a custom tune that you're running as a realtime map then you'll need to put that back on after resetting the ECU. If the custom tune is the base map then no worries as you can just reset it.

yeah my boost gauge is all good in the hood...its my A/F that has me puzzled. Everything is hooked up how my autometer was, but the Prosport only reads full rich and blinks 10.0 @ me. Could it be the rear O2 sensor from being fully catless? It is tapped into the B17 White wire leading from the ecu, the rear O2 signal wire.

Y halo thar! Narrow band O2 stock sensor. The gauge is useless either way. Id save some money for a wideband if youre that concerned with it, or doing your own tuning.

I have the premium elec boost gauge and am having issues myself. Are you saying that the sender does NOT just plug black/black with the wires coming from the boost gauge? Do I actually have to ground both the black from the sender AND the black from the gauge to the sender? As well as the black that comes from the power line?
I checked the wiring again today, as well as the tubes.
I'm getting low reading and vacuum at -25. Boost is topping at +8.5 and during normal acceleration I'm not getting over -10. The car is running fine and should be making 11.5

ok so I figured out what the problem is withmy boost gauge....the vaccum line supplied by Prosport is ver malable and expecially under heat is easily bent and pinch....I found a small kink where the line runs under the dash.....unpinched it and its back to working great. Now if I can only get my A/F to work right :(

glad you figured it out, yea the lines that prosport supply tend to be the center of a lot of the issues...

ok so I quadruple checked every connection, wiring diagram everything....I even got 2 anit-sparkplug folwers and drilled 1 out to make a spacer for the rear o2 sensor off the fully catless exhaust and still it doesnt work....voltage works great and it performs the full initial sweep but doesnt move anywhere after that from full rich and just blinks that 10.0 at me......Ive read every post on here and scooby mods looked at every diagram im stumped.
My autometer worked no problem :( wish i didnt sell it.
