There is NO WAY of knowing how far the long reaching ramifications will be on this... I think we may even see a change in manufacturers- i.e. Michelin going away after this debabcle.

I haven't heard the FIA reasoning for denying the chicane, I'll wait to see if I'm mad until after I hear their exucse.
Sure Michelin is at fault for the tires, but things like that happen, its all the rules and the FIA's unwillingness to bend them thats hurting the sport, not Michelin. The FIA was offered multiple solutions to the tire problem by Michelin, and the teams agreed that either would be ok.
Could very well be the last race at Indy, fair to say the end of U.S F1 for a while.

I've hated the one tire rule since they came up with it. As the one thing in contact with the ground it is certaninly a safety item that can't be overlooked.

How could Michelin come to a track with a tire that it cant race on? I just dont understand. Its not the first time here. If there is any one place to point the blame on this to I would have to say its Michelin.

Michelin didn't bring tires that would work - either primary or optional - and then tried to blackmail the FIA into overlooking the rules and changing the track to work with their tires... The blame is squarely with Michelin on this.

Next is Max Mosley/FIA for not allowing a chicane. Max said if a chicane was installed it would have been a non points race. At least their would have been a race.

I agree that the FIA shouldn't have altered the track- that isn't fair to the teams that came prepared to race the track as it should be. Michelin dropped the ball and those teams using that tyre got the shaft as a result.

Of all the places to have a bureaucratic stand off, Indy is the worse place. The stands are practically empty and it won't be easy to fill them back up after this mess. This is a real sad day for motorsports. I have never seen anything else like it and I have been following F1 and many other types of racing for many years.

But that totally caters to Michelin, while ignoring all the development that Bridgestone has put in.
I think the teams and drivers had the obligation to run the race, and make twice the pit stops.

That makes no sense, tires failed in practice! They could fail after VERY few laps... They'd have to stop every lap to be sure. And the teams agreed to give Bridgestone all the points and still run the race....for the fans...FIA still wouldn't budge...

After reading the statement by the FIA I have to agree about the lack of chicane. I mean Ferrari has sucked all year do to the poor performance of the Bridgestones. Now there is a race where the Bridgestones stronger and the Michellin runners want to change the track configuration to suite there setups?

Yes, which is why they don't want to run. Toyota had two incidents almost immediately with the tires. BAR didn't have any issues with the limited laps they did, but they could have with had issues after running for 30 or more laps.

Every manufacturer is going to have problems at one point or another. The problem is the rule dictating one tire for a race weekend. Worked a little too well to "slow the cars down".
