WRC hood vent from Launsport?
Just wondering if anyone knows who imports or can get stuff from Launsport. Checked around but didn't find anything.
Reason I'm asking is because their WRC hood vent looks like a very nice alternative to an entire WRC hood at a fraction of the cost(if you want to cut up your hood that is). Goes nice with the a front mount as well.
Know any vendors who deal with Launsport?

Launsport is the best! I had a chance to go there last year. Small place full of WRC goodies! 2 Tommi M. Lancer EVO replica and 22B replica w/ huge spotlights in garage. If you don't worry about big$$$ for shipping cost from Japan, maybe I can help. I'll go back to Tokyo to see my parents this summer. let me know.

That is an excellent alternative to the WRC hood for those that want that look. (It even has a screen). I would be interested as well if I had a FMIC. I would have not problem cutting my factory hood at this point. Lets just say a hail storm is all it takes :(

Ill try my connections ,,you guys do the same.I want one of these.
Cuttin the hood doesnt bother me.

Does anybody know the mounting method on this. Does it bolt down from the bottom side or what. it should be a much better choice than spending 950.00 for the carbon fiber hood. IMO

cant the alternator get wet with something like that?
| WRX Ver.7 | 07-11-2002 07:24 PM |
Should not hurt the alternator. The alternator gets wet when it rains from water getting kicked up under the underpan & also when you wash the engine bay. If you drive a WRX, I am sure that you probally drive it when it rains. Lots of fun.

Would this work like a heat extractor?
Would it work or be silly if I kept my TMIC in lieu of getting a FMIC?

A very sweet twist to the game, but damn....lets talk expensive. This is the carbon fiber hood from www.pkzero.com. It is $950.00 plus s&h. OUCH, & it looks so good.

Ok were do I start...it is made from fiberglass and its actually pretty nice not all ruff like most hand laid stuff...it has a metal sceen and comes with a some hand written directions so you can trace it out on yer hood. I opted to get the rain gaurd its a cover that drops in it just incase it rains really hard. I have a bunch of stuff to unpack maybe get some pics up tomorrow..

I did ask Pkzero to make this part avalible but they said they had no plans to introduce such a product, this was a few months back maybe they will reconsider?

What do you guys think is a fair price for a carbon version and a fiberglass version of a WRC insert vent? (grill and undertray included)
moderators, before jumping down my throat, please keep in mind I have emailed both Alex and Nick for vendor status. Alex says he let Nick know, and I continue to wait for a response. I have yet to be given even the fax number to fax over license and all. Thanks.

These will be all CF right? Are you also going to sell a matching rainguard, with similar attachment to the original?
| SubaFastR | 08-08-2002 06:30 PM |
I don't think carbon is necesary. Your hood will most likely need to be repainted, and the part needs to be bonded on. We may do the rainguard as an optional carbon piece though. So far, the plan is to sell the vent, guard, and grill, all in fiberglass for $200.

Well people, after FINALLY getting the Japaneese text translated on the pattern, i am going to try to get this project started this weekend. If all goes well, I will have pics & some video of this project. As to how this is held onto the dood itself, there are some tabs of the mesh screen that were left on the vent. I am thinking that these are what holds the vent to the hood via some small screws that were supplied. Will keep you informed.

COMPLETED...at least for the night. I am tired as heck. Anyway, install was really not that big of a deal. As long as you do not mine cutting your hood all to crap. The 1st step is to remove the underhood insulation. This is held in place with 13 snap fittings.2nd is to remove the IC duct work. This is held in place with 8 screws. 3rd remove the hood scoop with the 5 flang nuts and the 3 pressure fittings. Then tape the pattern in place using the hood scoop opening as a line up. I used a type od masking tape to transfer the template to in order for it to stay in place. Then just start cutting. I used a die grinder with a 1/8 inch thick cutting disc. Here are a few pics. I will be happy to answer any questions about this install. The pics show 1st a blank hood, then the pattern in place, then the cut on the hood, then a front & side view of the vent installed. And last but not least, MUCH THANKS to Areg for letting my be the 1st to have this product.
