I will be recording it but not putting it to DVD until after Jan 1st when they show the entire series over again. Then as I have done for the last 2 years I will have the entire set available for a small number of coppies.
Think I sold something like 45 copies of 2001 season, 60 copies of 2002, and only going to do like 20 copies of 2003 cause most people have the capability to do it on their own now. simply to help out people who lack SPEED. Also since Chan 4 in the UK, FIA or SPEED wont sell copies of their broadcasts to people who dont have SPEED.

Petter was a picture-perfect example of somebody happy to be champion.

I thought it was pretty neat they had a little video of Colin sitting in the car with Tommi too:

I found it much better to follow and listen to the rally though the web and radio, rather than trying to wait for it to air on speed.
Speed does a good overview, but there's no time to cover each stage like you would be as it unfolds.
Much better becuase its live also.
Congratulations to both Petter and Tommi

CONGRATS PETTER AND SWRT!!!! That was a thoroughly well earned championship. It's hard to believe that this time last year Petter was winning his first race, now he's the world champ! Talk about coming of age.
Good job also to Tommi and Colin, although McRae did finish his career as he had spent the majority of it, being outclassed by Makkinen. ;)
So disappointing for Carlos; I had predicted that his bad luck would end... well at least I had it right that his result would be determined by luck. That is so frustrating to have 3rd party equipment derail your bid. As it turned out that was pivotal for the Championship because losing that car prompted Citroen to hold back Loeb.
And as a result, the outcome of the race was fairly anti-climatic. Although no rally win is a given, Petter cruised through pretty much unchallenged, which made it all the easier to stay out of trouble with a nice 40+ second gap by day 3.
The interview with Loeb right after it became apparent that he was not being allowed to race was the first time I can recall seeing him flustered... I felt bad, but that is such a tough spot to be in... tow the company line, or live your dream while biting the hand that feeds you? I trust that this was a decision made by some moron executive and not the actual rally team, and I can only hope that the next time they are in this situation they will put the emphasis on sport.
Anyway, 2003 was a tremendous season, hopefully the rules changes will not disturb the continuity of the sport too much. I can't wait till Monte Carlo, it will be great to see Petter try out that new #1 decal.

I've stayed away from here this long so that I would be tempted to find out who won...

Hey, Loeb was driving a little cautious, but Petter was going ALL OUT. I'm sure Loeb thought there was a decent chance Petter would go off into a rock or something during the course of the rally.
Hell, he mangled his steering and STILL beat Loeb by 9 seconds on that one stage!!
Absolutely incredible. That rally was a freaking CIRCUS. Sainz in the bushes, Gronholm arguing with that cop (that was a kodak moment), Burns "ill" after his blackout (hope he's ok!), Martin's engine getting ready to kersplode... man! Why can't they ALL be that interesting?!
Q: David, if I can finish with you, just looking to the future of Subaru, you've got a new car which you're working on. What's that going to be like next year?
David Lapworth: "Well I hope it's going to be fast - that's the idea. But no, obviously we're looking forward to another great battle next year. This year, it's been a really tough season, but these guys have all featured in it. But for us now, we've got to dig in and challenge and do the whole thing all over again with the new car. But I think that it's now just time to say thank you to these guys, particularly for their help in the last two years. They've not just been doing a great job behind the steering wheel, but the two of them and the relationship they've established has really helped the team in what feels like a fight back. You know, last season wasn't our greatest season ever and even this season didn't start fantastically, but the way these two guys have pulled together with the team and turned things around has been fantastic for all of us. What can I say but thanks to them. It's helped Subaru and Pirelli to get another championship and much of it's down to them."
How "new" is this new car? I'm sorry, I'm dense and like surprises so I don't usually follow the news on what's coming up... but they're redesigning AGAIN? Jeez. Ok.

I think WRC is making a huge mistake letting Colin not run next year. After all, he is the most recognized name in WRC.

The other really cool thing for me was seeing Makinen. He looked so laid back, happy, and as if he were having a great time. He hasn't looked that way all season, so it was really nice to see. Ditto for Colin McRae. It was like old times for those two.
