I've always kinda hated the whole "show car" mentality... you have to build up your car according to other people's ricey tastes :disco:

I dont think that is true at all. In order to win at a car show, a reputable one that is, you must have a UNIQUE car with originality that stands out, kinda like milla's...How many wrx's do you see with rota wheels, a replica STI grille and boring lips or stock aero parts on them winning shows??? NONE. But you do see hundreds of them all over the boards and the street. I think its kinda lame that everyone follows the typical WRX mentality with STRICLTY PERFORMANCE mods or ANTI-RICE campaigning. Do what YOU wanna do man, dont let these people sway or change your opinion...Most car show judges are looking for a clean car, both literally and visually with a uniqueness to it. ICE is always going to get you more points than stock crap. I wouldnt cut into a set of racing seats for tv's, however but i do think a tv or 2 is definitely key. once again....$$$ talks...good luck -chop

typical....

its a shame you could actually write something like that and be serious about it...people spend loads of time on their show cars in order to express themselves....i think thats such a crappy thing to say.

1. Decent brand of aftermarket seats, or jdm sti seats. Get all four, or cover the rear bench to match your new seats. Also get some decent harnesses
5. Lcd screens mounted in your headrests.

Marcel
To stop all the bitching about LCD's in STi seats he never said that. In post #1 he mentioned STi seats. As a way to get more points.

#5 is just a general statement.

Well, milla...even a hooker would be more usefull:)

I don't need 'show people' stroking my ego to get my rocks off, making me think I'm koo 'cuz i got da koo ride....

I have several hobbies that I persue...RC models---Model rocketry---I collect coins---I fish and hunt---and I drive a very streetable, very fast, stage4 WRX to do all of them. I don't have to leave it in the garage under a cover;)
Basshead 03-02-2004 11:53 PM

You are also a complete c0ck monkey.

There is nothing wrong with a show car, a car on bags, etc. They are correct though sir, you have NO KNOWLEDGE of what it takes to have a show winning car, nor do you have the courtesy to respect other peoples cars and the time and effort they have put into making the car THE WAY THEY WANT, not the way YOU want. Not everyone is about speed and performance, some just want to look good and sound good. For alot of people who show their cars, their car is like a work of art, an expession of themselves.

So with that said, you need to shut your pie hole and go back to twiddling your thumbs and biting off other peoples ideas and mods.

Thanks.... buh bye now :disco:

Maybe you need to work on your reading skills. I never said you need to put screens in aftermarket seats, but that would give you a lot of points at a show.
Sounds like RiCe... Did you just say put LCD's in STI or racing seats? that'd be a waste...
My turn to 'BUTT' in I guess. The problems started out with Stang's comments above. Answer me this one Stang, what are you doing in the Interior & Exterior Modification & Care threads if you don't like stuff that most would consider rice? Of course a lot of visual mods could be done without saying the word rice, but there is so much stuff in these threads that people who believe anything not adding horsepower is rice. Please don't come in and start a fight.

Then Uncle Scotty jumps in and basically does the same thing. If you don't like things considered rice, stay out of these threads. I am glad you have hobbies that you like; but each to their own as long as it isn't hurting anyone.

Milla, you need to just back off when someone starts running off at the mouth. You immediately get defensive. It is too easy to pick a fight with you on these boards. Just let it go and ignore the person posting the negative thoughts and they will eventually go away.

Scrappy, same thing as milla. Except you did seem to try and be more on the level with some of your comments. But please don't bother patronizing Stang by pulling out pics.

Finally, let me add my opinion to the topic in case anyone wants to flame me they can at least attack that. I like being different than the other people. I like working on my STi. I can appreciate someone who goes to great lengths to do a ton of work in customizing their ride. And any of those things can be for power or looks. What I don't like is when someone does all those things for others. This society is screwed up with people all trying to impress each other. And it seems to win these shows it isn't enough to just express yourself, you have to do a lot of what the judges want instead. I think it is a shame that people can not be happy for themselves. Which all goes back to the original poster Chris Morgan asking a serious question and wanting some feedback. It doesn't hurt for a reality check from others what might look good or bad. But he wants to put on bags and a lambo paint job, then go for it. It is his car and he should be happy with it. I am going to stick with equal amounts of money in customizations in engine mods and visuals. And I won't be basing my choices on what everyone else thinks looks cool; just what I will enjoy looking at.

offset

PS If you really do want to rant about what things you really hate that others do, take it to Off Topic. Just leave the rest of these boards for the folks that WANT to be here.

ok that makes me giggle because you wouldn't want to sit in the back seat to watch the TV's with that harness bar there, waiting to bash your face in. ;)

BUT, it's a show car, so it's cool.

This thread was reported and if it keeps up the instigator will be well on his way to some time off of the board.
WReX N Effect 03-03-2004 02:24 PM

I think you have a couple of very good points there. Well said (written).

It's too bad that others can't seem to articulate their thoughts in such a manner.

I don't know, but all this hype about people wasting SO MUCH on making a show car out of an ugly, utilitarian, economy car(ANY of them) is far beyond me.
I mean why(try to) make a basic transportation vehicle into anything more than that by making it useless as a vehicle that can be driven everyday.....'cmon...it will never be in a museum or worth any more than it was when it was brand new...it's not a Ferrari or a Lambo or anything other than a econobox.

Pointless.....absolutly pointless.
CosmoTheCat 03-03-2004 04:14 PM

Spending hours preparing cardboard tubes to shoot up into the air is just as pointless.

It's a hobby. Why do you feel as though you should try to convince people that their form of entertainment is stupid? To me that seems pointless.

They enjoy it, so be it. You don't? Don't read the threads about it. Don't reply to the threads.

I can feel the heat all the way in the Northwest! Wow.

I like variety! GO-GO-GO with the LCDs, the LSDs and the BOVs! More the merrier! I like to watch the fancy bling-bling-things at the expense of others :)

I just spent $0.99 for a bobble-head puppy on the dash. It keeps the 2-yr old entertained. $0.99 for 3-hours of soft giggles instead of non-stop wailing. Best investment ever made.

So, our cars can be a vault of electronic wizardry, a canvas for self expression, pure utilitarian mode of transport, a machanical marvel of head-spinning power, ...and a child pacifier, too!

We should marvel at Subaru's ability to produce such a flexible car, and congratulate (even celebrate) individualism. Wouldn't that be a cool thing for NASIOC?

Now, if you flame me for having a 2-year old monster in a BONE STOCK 'roo, I'll make my daughter flick boogies at you.

ps. I personally like the shaved trunk - can you convert it to a keyless deal, and have it open hydraulically? Never liked the release cable, myself. For example, check out the rear deck of the (gulp) Dodge Caravan - it opens like a spaceship!
CosmoTheCat 03-03-2004 08:31 PM

Or just put a stinking door popper on it and forget about the cable (until the battery dies)
munkis 03-04-2004 06:19 PM

no more bickering.
