airbag/steering wheel question (I think I got screwed)

so i bought an 04 sti wheel thinking it was in good condition (the classified ad said almost mint)
i guess almost mint means the front af the wheel was damaged by the airbag going off
can i get just the front of the wheel from anywhere
i feel really **** on

that piece alone will cost you around $800
and i doubt you'll find one in a wrecked sti

Yeah man, you got jacked if he said it was "almost mint". My definition of that would be that it's slightly used and may have a few scratches ... not [b]AIRBAG DEPLOYED[/b].

it always said w/o airbag but tons of people sell their wheels w/o airbags because they removed them
thats still a hell of alot different from airbag deployed

he didnt tell me the airbag deployed until after he shipped it to me. he keeps telling me the wheel is fine but the cover is not intact

the problem is that the cover where the horn is/where it says sti is destroyed
many people sell wheels with no airbag that are not damaged. all you have to do is swap another airbag in.
they take out the airbag and reassemble the wheel. this airbag deployed. the seller did not tell me this until after it was shipped

Even if he didn't say "w/o airbag" (which I would have immediately taken to mean it had deployed and the horn section was destroyed since you see people selling those all the time) I would have seen some of the other evidence that it was in some kind of accident that could have deployed the airbag, for instance, the headlights being busted.
I would see if you can return it and get your money back from him. Otherwise you got nothing other than what you paid for.
And honestly, did you think you were going to get a complete near mint STi steering wheel for $175?? Haha, you were dreaming! :p If it had been what you thought it was, it would have sold quicker than you could say "dibs!"

ive seen them go complete for 225.00 so i figured he just wanted to get rid of it
i misstook the airbag and explosive chage to be the same thing
oh well guess im an idiot and i guess i just didnt know what i was buying. man i feel stupid. hopefully he will let me return it.
im going to try and get a refund. im going to overnight it back to him

he did take a pic of the wheel he took it down.
the pic showed the wheel from behind with the airbag charge intact and the front cover still on the wheel.
all i got was the shell no airbag charge or cover

I think, based upon what he said, that the picture showed the wheel with the airbag intact. That is kind of misrepresenting the actual product he received. If he doesn't take it back, I would dispute it through paypal or your credit card (I hope you did use a credit card for this).

Just look on the first page for the name. I posted the thread that he sold the item on. He has since taken down the picture and changed the description.
