thanx in advance!!

I've tried
1. hella optilux xenon 80/80 H4 with RELAY..blown in 2 months ..around 40 a pair
2. Piaa Platinum superwhite 80/80 H4 with relay...blown in 1 month .. around 70 a pair
3. syvanlia COOL BLUE h4 55/60 H4 with no relay..still working fine...but the visibility is comparable to 1. and 2.
around 30 a pair
but PIAA platinum superwhite looks the best..
just my 2 cents

I have the PIAA Platinum Superwhites in my RS and I really like the way they look. They put out way better light than the stock bulbs, and no problems as of yet. Have to wait and see about that. My $0.02 Cya, Gary

If you are thinking of using dual function aux light how about this one replacing the current fog light?

I have tha PIAA Superwhites and no problems so far (well, other than people flashing their brights once in awhile [img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/wink.gif[/img]). I've had these in about 1.5 years. I'm not sure what has caused others to blow their PIAA's, but I suspect it could be from touching the bulbs during install. Then again, maybe I'm just lucky.

The reason Aftermarket bulbs sometimes blow is because of a standard Subaru feature. When you turn on your lights the car is already started; however, when we turn off the car the lights go off. Really nice, problem is how many of us acually turn off the lights manually? When you start the car back up in the morning the lights turn on while the car is trying to start. That creates a voltage irregularity which those type of bulbs don't like causing them to sometimes blow.

well im still not sure. looks like some had good luck and some had bad with piaas. i did do some research and i do like the higher output of the piaas. however i dont want to blow $80 on bulbs that will go in a few months. i just want more light not as far as to get a new wiring harnes. what about the hella xenon, where can i get more info on them? how about the "cool blues"?
thanx for all the info,

I installed my Pla.SW and they are nice and white(no hint of rice [img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smile.gif[/img] ) They don't match the SW corners though. The Pla.SW corners have a blue tinge. maybe that cause i have the clear corners???
as for bang for the buck... all nice bulbs. I got tired of trying to find out which one was whiter/cheaper/brighter so I just picked a brand(PIAA). If they blow I'll go to another. That's the only real way of telling. Just take care of em.

I have installed Piaa Plasma Blue H4 headlight and Piaa Plasma Blue H3 fog lights. The outcome is really awesome. It looks like I had BMW hid lights and also hid foglights. hehehe. [img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smile.gif[/img] I highly recommend Piaa Plasma Blue to anybody who wants to achieve the HID lighting effect. [img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smile.gif[/img]

I have run Superwhite Platinums and Sylvania Cool Blues in my car, and for the money, would go with the Cool Blues. You can get info on the Cool Blues from Sylvanias web site, and they do answer questions. I had one CB blow after about 6 months, and they sent me a new one for free. The CB's seem to put out as much light as the SWP 80/80's that I am running now, and for quite a bit le$$. To solve the light forward issue, I am just going to install the PIAA 910. 110watt bulb in small size.

Sylvania CoolBlues lasted about 1.5 years for me. The left side blew up last month. I also had a pair of RAZO Premium White ($75), but one of the bulbs died in 4 months. I liked the RAZO bulbs because they were a lot whiter and brighter, but it costs too much for bulbs. I like the CoolBlue because they're only $20 / pair at Autozone, and they're significantly whiter than stock bulbs.

I posted this earlier,
"am I the only one who has not had problems with PIAA? I went with the superwhites. nice pure white color. the plasma's are pretty rice-ish (too much blue/purple, IMHO). according to PIAA the plasmas are not as bright as the superwhites."

just my .02, hope that helps

Yeah, it's true that the Piaa Plasma bulbs are not as bright as Piaa Platinum and Piaa Extreme White bulbs. However, blue has always been a favorite color in my life. [img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smile.gif[/img] That's why I had all Plama bulbs up front. Hey, my car is blue ridge pearl as well! [img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/biggrin.gif[/img]
If blue wasn't my favorite color, I would go for the Piaa Extreme White, or maybe I would. [img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/wink.gif[/img] Hee-hee. :P

Oh! I have had bought Piaa bulbs for more than 3 years. I have experienced both Piaa Superwhite and Piaa Platinum for 9004 and 9006. They did not blow up for more than a year. Now I have H4 and H3 for a few months and they proved to be reliable too. [img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smile.gif[/img]

OT: I was checking up on headlight bulbs and was looking at the PIAA Super Plasmas. everytime I searched for it though I came up with the word rice. I am just wondering why it is rice? I have them on my car and I really do like them. I think it looks pretty good. Its not a decal saying I'm faster. Is it like a fake intercooler? I am saying im HID buy I'm not? I don't get it. I'm proving that I'm not HID by turning them. I'm not saying I'm brighter. I don't get it [img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/confused.gif[/img] Also I really do like my Super Plasmas. I VERY much like how they reflect off of like signs or bumper stickers saying HIGHWAY POLICE. Helps alot [img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/wink.gif[/img]
Sorry, I dont want to digress this topic from its original post...just wondering is all.

HID is different than the blue bulbs you can get. Blue is not only illegal, it's worse for everyone on the road. It creates more glare for oncoming traffic, and produces less usable light for the driver, especially in rain or snow, where blue light is more easily scattered (shorter wavelength is the cause of all of this; more strain on the eye) and creates glare that will blind you.
In short, if you're going to shell out the big bucks to get HID, good for you. But don't get blue bulbs; purple bulbs and no lights at all are the only lighting options that would be worse.

Yotsuya, I dont know if you want to call the super plasmas blue but I see your point. I never knew that they caused such problems for other motorists. When these blow out I'll put on some normal ones instead... Thanks for the info.

I don't know what brands in particular to look out for, I've just seen too many sites with negative information about blue lights, and it make a lot of sense to me from a scientific (the whole wavelenght and eye irritation angle) and personal (blue lights in my eyes and in rain) perspective.

Miracle Worker - that is so true. Both my Raybrig (think it's Raybrig) headlight bulbs blew on start up, yesterday. Actually I heard a strange sound and didn't know what it was. I didn't realize I lost the low beam headlights until the evening. I have been checking fuses and everything, etc.

Andrew,
I agree it's kinda cool to see things lighting up in bluish color in the dark. But in my expereience with Piaa Platinum and Piaa Plasma Blue, the Platinum does provide better visibiltiy than Plasma. However, I still have Plasma bulbs on headlights and foglights. :P I am looking forward to upgrade to Piaa Extreme White. That's the latest bulb technology from Piaa in Japan now.
Or I might upgrade to Catz Zeta system. I think the Plasma will be as blue as ever with that system!! Hehehe. Blue light festival!!! and blinding people. hehehe.
A word about "rice"...I really don't that sterotypical term at all. As long as the owner of the car is happy with his mods, that's that. [img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smile.gif[/img]
