Sweet, look great!

Mine should get in tomorrow. The drivers in Tucson, AZ are completely ignorant road-goers, which is why I got them. Totally a safety consideration.

Just installed mine last week and love the look of them. Plus they're loud as hell
| Imprezive_04 | 01-31-2006 07:20 PM |
just ordered mine tonight, can't wait to install, anyone have pics of the wiring?
| toadie | 01-31-2006 08:04 PM |
where did you order them from?
| Imprezive_04 | 01-31-2006 08:34 PM |
ordered mine from http://www.rallylights.com/hella/supertone_horn.asp but mostly because they were the closest (in PA)
| WR^2X | 01-31-2006 08:55 PM |
FYI, http://www.lildevilmotorsports.com has them for $61.98 shipped, and I got mine about 36 hours after placing my order.

For those who are expecting a loud as hell noise you'll be disappointed. The Hella Supertones are loud... but not as loud as everyone says they are. They are louder than stock, just don't expect 18 wheeler truck loud.

Louder than stock was all I was shooting for.

That's without using a relay... many people recommend using a relay though.

Yeah, without a relay... it isn't very much louder than stock.

You need an air compressor powered off a drive pulley for a truck horn. Pretty neat when set up on a small car.

You must not have hooked them up to a relay, because... they're louder than all ****ing hell!

made a few friends jump from the sound, even with them knowing i was about to honk. use the relay!!!

yes gotta use a relay to get a full affect

Pulling out of the carwash on my way down the road to my house, 3 highschool girls were walking on the side of the road. I honked the supertones at them and they screamed very loud and started to run. Needless to say it made my day :D
HONK HONK (I used the relay)

The girls running away from you made your day? I suppose they did some sort of slow-motion Baywatch run? :p

does the relay really make that much difference? i wired mine up using the same wiring as the stockers... guess i should try with a relay and see for myself

To me in the car they aren't that loud, as they seem to be very directional. I wanted to see the effects on unsuspecting pedestrians
I went to a Rallyx event the other weekend and someone was there that had Supertones installed without the relay. We both tested them since I used it and he didn't, and there wasn't a differance at all. So I guess whatever floats your boat.

Mine upset me today... I came up behind a coworker who was walking down the middle of the lane, and honked from about 10 feet away. He didn't look the least bit startled, or even turn around! He said he was too immersed in his reading to pay attention to anything else, but still. I was hoping for a humorous reaction, or at least some kind of reaction at all.

No need to, just hook a multi meter up to the stock horn connector and see what it reads, if it is 12v then there is no difference.

It might be that its not that loud if you are INSIDE the car... as the horns are VERY directional. I don't particularly want to stand in front of them to test how loud they really are :).
| J-Rex2004 | 02-07-2006 05:38 PM |
Just a picture for all the people that say that not using the relay is why Hellas are "not much louder then stock".

I used the relay when I hooked up my hella's. If you're standing in front of the car when they go off, it makes your ears ring.
| Imprezive_04 | 02-07-2006 06:10 PM |
I just don't understand why you wouldn't do something when the manufacturer says "here do this"........I investigate accidents for a company and 9 times out of 10 if the user woulda just listened when we said "here do this" they wouldn't have gotten hurt. Maybe apples and oranges, maybe not. The wiring with the relay isn't hard
| REVNU | 02-07-2006 06:20 PM |
Just hooked mine up over the weekend. I've already had the pleasure of using them twice on idiotic drivers.
And I did use the relay. Not very hard to wire up.

Installed mine on Sunday, very impressed. And whoever said they weren't loud, you must be deaf or something man. I can make people jump and fall over with a Supertone blast.
| J-Rex2004 | 02-07-2006 06:27 PM |
I think you guys are missing the point of the picture...stock horns are 110dB, not the 98dB as previously stated.

110db at what distance? 3ft maybe...
Either way, the Supertones are definitely MUCH louder than the stock horns.

The stock horns can be whatever decibal you claim; that is not the point. The Hellas are much louder than stock. Whether it be 10 or 20 decibals, that is not important.
| Imprezive_04 | 02-07-2006 06:53 PM |
Decibels are a log scale, so the difference in sound intensity level....
The difference in decibels between the two is defined to be 10 log (P2/P1) dB where the log is to base 10.
If the second produces twice as much power than the first, the difference in dB is 10 log (P2/P1) = 10 log 2 = 3 dB.
If the second had 10 times the power of the first, the difference in dB would be
10 log (P2/P1)= 10 log 10 = 10 dB.
If the second had a million times the power of the first, the difference in dB would be 10 log (P2/P1) = 10 log 1000000 = 60 dB.
so 10 log(x) = 8 dB
x = 6.3, sound intensity of supertones is 6.3 times that of the stock 110 dB horns

I gave a girl a taste of the "Superhellas," as you call them, today. It seems she thought that she could take a left in front of me while I was going straight on a green light, all the while, blowing into her mobile.
Yes, I did get a shocked look followed by a filthy gesture.
I have now many happy feelings.
