My gold rims are ghetto?
Is it just me or do non-subaru drivers just not understand why we put gold rims on our cars? :confused:

They just have no clue. Before owning a subaru.. I would've NEVER put gold rims on one of my cars.. I have seen the light since then.

I get the same opinions here, it's like they frown when they say I'm getting gold wheels. It's a subaru thing that most people won't understand, but I think it looks great on these cars.
When people think of gold wheels, they are probably thinking of those 13" gold daytons those thugs put on their impalas.

Gold wheels on a Subaru are good. :D Chrome wheels on a Subaru... I guess if you had to. A Subaru on cement blocks with no wheels... thats ghetto :D

Gold rims reflect on the rich rally heritage of the Subaru, but I'm still undecided if they are best left to distinguish the STi.
In any case, gold rims are the "least ghetto" in an OEM or rally look application. (i.e. OEM 17"ers and WRC lookalikes are ok, but not Superlegarras).

It is unique! Subaru with gold rims. I always get Honda people's attention when they see my car.

I think there is also a difference between gold satin finish and gold polish or gloss. But normally, I believe gold wheels are just too ostentatious. Given that I own a black car, I thought about getting the JDM STI wheels for a bit, but have settled on something in bronze instead. I was just having a hard time with the gold! Most people don't know much, if anything, about rally, and that's likely why they disapprove of gold.

I have gold rims too and I really don't know why I like the look of the gold but I do... but I also happen to think that I'd like a nice understated anthractite/gunmetal look more... to go with my personality.
And when a lady asks you if your rims came in other colours, you know she isn't exactly digging your rims. It happened to me. :(

Personally, I like gold wheels with certain car colors. I don't like the way they look on my silver wagon, though. I'm going with a set of polished BBS RKs...which look very much like chrome. I don't care if anyone else in all of Subarudom likes 'em. I like 'em, and that's ALL that matters. For those of you who think chrome is ghetto...well...that just shows your perspective. You have a right to your opinion. But, one thing I look for when making mods to a car...try to do something differrent from what EVERYBODY else is doing. Then, maybe YOUR car will stand out in a crowd, no? One reason I bought a WRX is because you don't see one on every street corner. Why would I want my car to look like everyone other Subie you DO see???

How do I get me a set of Subaru Gold rims? I want the five spoke OEM rims in 16". I'd like to be able to just swap my summer tires to the golds and buy a set of all seasons for the silver RS rims.

The M5 is a beautiful car with very sweet rims (I've seen a few different BMW designs and they are all real nice). The ONLY way the rims on that car would have looked bad is if they were aftermarket ones and the guy decided to ruin his sweet ride with ghetto gold rims. :lol:
