wm07 12-26-2005 06:33 PM

RT615 on sale?
Just ordered some RT615 (245-45-17) for $117 each from Edgeracing. I think it's a great price, the lowest I've seen yet. Just want to pass it along.
Golfa 12-26-2005 06:40 PM

that is a good price, thanks
Draken 12-26-2005 06:49 PM

holy crap that seems pretty damn low for that size
joey1313 12-26-2005 07:40 PM

Those and the kooks are at the cheapest prices i've seen yet. Hopefully they have another sale when I have money for tires.
AndrewSS 12-26-2005 07:43 PM

would it be a good idea to order these tires now since they are cheap... even if they would have to sit in my basement till like april-may? I have the $ I just dont know if I should wait, what do you think? Is it healthy for the tire... anything like that?
afpdl 12-26-2005 07:44 PM

Its a good deal but I cant get my order to go through.

Edit: NM finally went through.
IBAUCLAPlaya 12-26-2005 08:02 PM

If only 245/35-17 or 235/40-17
scottblkSTi 12-26-2005 08:17 PM

Ordered mine too. Couldn't pass up those prices on the 245-45-17s for my '05 STi.

A garage - I might be concerned with, but basement should be fine. Particularly if you leave them unshaved/undriven on until then. Andy Hollis wrote recently that tires seemed to start a "countdown" once they'd been shaved or driven on, but if left alone at full-tread would last considerably longer.

We're paying $102 ... locally, cash, no-shipping. Dollar over dealer cost ... because the dealers are getting money back from Falken.

Also paid the same for 235/40/17 Kooks.

Supposedly you shouldn't leave them near electric motors ... the ozone produced by them can have a determential effect on them. I would bag them in black trash bags. I was told this at a Kuhmo seminar.
vintagemilano 12-26-2005 09:30 PM

I would be concerned with shipping them this time of year to places that are below freezing. Takes a fair bit of life out of R compound and near R compound tires if they are allowed to freeze.
AndrewSS 12-27-2005 03:25 AM

^ hmmm you bring up an interesting point.

They dont have them ! :p
PKer 12-27-2005 07:27 PM

They don't have Azenis 615 in 235/40-17 either, I'm getting the feeling that they never will. They just push release further back all of the time.
makofoto 12-27-2005 09:15 PM

Screwed up ... the $100 cash was for my 235/40/17 Kooks. The 615's:

225/45r17 $133.00
245/45r17 $139.00

cash and carry in the Los Angeles area

SORRY GUYS! :(
i ordered the 255/40/17's
As street tires I presume, not ST* tires? The STi is limited to 245s in STU.

i run a local-only street tire class. i don't compete anywhere but local, and my competition are a couple evos running 275's :)
jcroy66 12-28-2005 12:18 PM

Okey dokey, good point. :)
AtomicRacer 12-29-2005 01:43 PM

Thanks for the heads up on this. I picked up a set of 245/45-17 for my STi. Wondering what the hot tire is going to be in ST this year.
