06 Huge improvement over 05

Just wondering if anyone has noticed how much nicer the quality of the interior is in the 06 compared to the 05 and down. I've been looking at wrx's for a few years and I was thrilled to finally get my 06 limited w/tan leather and charcoal interior. I'm loving it.

i've heard a lot of people brag about their interiors in the 06 models. honestly, i'd never get leather in a car like that. If I wanted an upgraded interior i'd make sure to buy it from luxury car makers. very few companies can pull off sporty/luxurious cars and subaru didn't. to me its like putting a sparco seat in a benz s-class...just doesn't fit. can't you see the progression 02-03 seats were nice and snug > 04-05 got worse > 06-? cheapo looking leather that doesn't match the cars characteristics. just my $0.02; go flame.

I noticed how torquey my friends new 06 is, definately diggin that, as well as the superb brakes.
Interior didn't wow me at all. Same old, just cleaner.

+1 with this guy..and it's ghey a known rally car with leather seat's..nwayz it's just me.

Leather in a wrx is retarded. Thats all I want is to be going around a corner "briskly" and go sliding out of my seat! The Japanese changed the seats to suit or north american posteriors! we are the most overweight population in the world.

The rally car comes from the street version. Not the other way around. There are so many versions of the Impreza would you say the same thing to a 1.5 liter model with velour seats? Or to a luxury model with leather and a sunroof?
It's a street car and believe it or not 99% of the buyers around the world do not want a "rally" car.

I never liked Japanese leather.
Although i test drove a 06 wrx sedan with leather. It was nice, I guess. If your into that then its great. I thought it was slightly better then the cloth seats, I couldnt justify the price to myself. The only thing I beat myself up for is not getting the moonroof.
Now I'm really glad I didnt get leather since my drunk girlfriend already managed to smash a mcdonalds sweet and sour sauce into the seat. Cleaned up alright though :)

I love the pleathry feal of japanese leather, it looks so cool when it's all cracked in the first year, I also love the intoxicating case of swamp-ass I get when I indulge. < 02!!!!!

they really need to offer the sunroof without the stupid leather... that is the only one reason i didn't get the limited...nasty leather...kinda regret it still, heated seats are nice.

Now I can see Laether/Pleather being very impractical if the cars primary purpose was to be a track whore. But most of the people that buy the Limited trim probably don't plan on racing their car. Either way, like it's been said in thousands of different threads on this board, to each their own. You can think its retarded but just don't impose your opinions on others. My $0.02

I to hated the pictures of the front end but sense I've seen it in person it has grown on me. Hell I even traded in an '04 WRX for an '06 STI but the before mentioned updates on the WRX (moon roof, leather, etc) don't really aply to the STI.

personally if i could get leather seats (aka afford an 06) i would do it. i cant believe that almost everyone i hear on this board likes the 02-03 seats the best. i have an 02 and i can barely stand the seats. my buddy has an 04 wrx and i love those seats, i keep trying to get him to trade me. is the reason you guys think the 04+ seats dont hold you as good because they have slicker fabric? thats the only thing i can think of. just my .02 i would love to swap for some STi seats someday.

I'll second that, it looks great. I dunno about all that "trying to be a luxury car" business. Just because a car has leather upholstery doesn't mean it's attempting to come across as Bentley. The two tone leather really makes the interior look more refined over the much lower quality cloth fabrics in my opinion...but I'm sure others will disagree.

Here's my opinion - you can get the car with leather or with cloth, so why is anyone complaining?
My complaint is why they don't make a high-end/sporty 2.5RS/i model. I think that's one segment of the market they're missing - to compete with the optioned-out Mazda3 GT's and stuff. The 2.5i has more than enough power to be considered a "sport economy luxury" car, yet you can't get it with sport seats, auto climate control, sunroof, 17" wheels, performance suspension, sportshift auto transmission, etc. In fact the 2.5i seems very stripped down, which it doesn't have to be. Even the door handles aren't chrome, which really makes it feel cheap.

Because if you are going to get all of those options for the price I guess they assume that more people would buy a wrx tr for the same price. Whether they are right or not who knows.

I guess I'm just a statistic then because I am 5'10" about 250lbs, and the 05' seats hold me in just fine. I also prefer the center console area much better in the 05 than any of the previous models. Looks much cleaner in my opinion.

Are 06 STI seats just as bad as the 05's and 4s? I didn't even know they changed the seats! Now I'm kinda jealous, of what I don't know yet though. Is there really that much of a difference?
