06 WRX TR debadge gone wrong. part 1

High PSi STi 10-24-2005 11:56 AM

06 WRX TR debadge gone wrong.
So, I was debadging my 06 TR this weekend, pulled of the small Subaru Letters, with no problem. Then I get to the center star emblem, everything seems to be going fine, but when it finally comes off, I notice two alignment holes (,diameter about 14 mm each,) on the trunk. I was lucky enough to have a neighbor who owns a body shop, he gave me some double sided tape, so I was able to get the emblem back on. I just wanted to give a heads up to those with 06's planning a debadge.

That is common knowledge around here. Where have you been?? Should have done some research first. I hope everything turns out okay for you.
Jonnyfilmboy 10-24-2005 12:02 PM

Sux man, but I thought that was common knowledge too. Should be no worse for wear though since you have the double stick tape.

These forums are great for learing from other people's mistakes! Believe me, I've made a few of my own that I have written about. :)

I don't even have an 06 WRX, and I knew that.

melayout 10-24-2005 12:13 PM

thanks for the info on two alignment holes.
High PSi STi 10-24-2005 12:20 PM

Did a search for 06 debadge, but didn't immediately find anything. I guess I am a little to impatient. Everything turned out fine though.
DieselClown 10-24-2005 12:39 PM

yeah prety common knowledge but glad it worked out for ya.
stArs Inked 10-24-2005 06:40 PM

don't freak. if your emblem ends up not wanting to stick, you could probably just buy a new one for not that much. or just get the little wholes filled at your local bodyshop, shouldn't cost all that much, you would be the only guy on your block with a fully debadged '06!!! :disco:
hellafastwrx 10-24-2005 07:38 PM

next time swap hatches!
Silver '02 REX 10-24-2005 07:48 PM

^^^^^^^^Seems to be the only easy way to fully debadge an 06
f1vlad 04-09-2006 09:27 PM

Oh you know I was just reading that and was thinking you did! Lol sorry, I'm kinda scared with paint peeling talk, but I may do it. Actucally i'm kinda feeling the big Subaru badge on the back, anyone else with me? You gotta rep when your on the street no?
Handsdown 04-09-2006 09:59 PM

i too knew this before you did the debadge.
f1vlad 04-09-2006 10:21 PM

Eh I don't know, it's ok, i.e. big subaru badge, especially because most likely my front badge will not be coming off.

you can tell by looking at the inside of the trunk w/o even removing anything... not that it helps now but fwiw
thrasher 04-10-2006 07:29 AM

badges...we don't need no stinking badges!!
aimetti 04-10-2006 07:37 AM

ya sucks we cant debadge
Silver_04_WRX_SC 04-10-2006 09:45 AM

ESEMES did this to his trunk badge. I think it looks really good. Pretty much take the rear badge off, sand the back painted portion of the badge. Re-paint to color match your car...and your done!

An option for anyone with SGM, anyone with a different color swap trunks ;)
