brutalsti 04-16-2006 10:04 PM

it would be tight cf
Golfa 04-16-2006 10:10 PM

on subaru.com the spoiler is unpainted black...

I am sure there will be a GB after the car is released...patience my son
djerickd 04-16-2006 10:19 PM

No it says "body-colored" rear lip spoiler, the front lip is black, and I don't want that mines lip I dont like how it wraps down the back of the trunk..
KAX 04-16-2006 10:23 PM

eh, i dont like it.
Phil Jr. 04-18-2006 07:52 PM

the mines one is gross and prolly has no aero benefit.

+1 for a part#
eh, i dont like it.
im with you. it doesnt really catch my eye like previous STI spoilers...its not horrible though (like 6ft aluminum wings :furious: ).
psyber_0ptix 04-19-2006 07:24 AM

no more roof spoiler things?
Silver '02 REX 04-19-2006 07:46 AM
no more roof spoiler things?
Not for the Limited STI
aimetti 04-19-2006 07:59 AM

id buy one.
WRX8XB 04-19-2006 08:04 AM
no more roof spoiler things?
the purpose of the rear roof vane was to catch the air and make it get caught by the huge regular STi spoiler, without the huge sti spoiler there is no real purpose for a rear roof vane.
mindchatter 04-19-2006 09:01 AM

I wonder if this particular wing's been wind tunnel tested, or if it's purely cosmetic. Cause if it's the latter, I really think the Mines wing matches the car's lines better.
dannyp 04-19-2006 12:35 PM

im definately interested in the 07 lip wing, ive been waiting for something like that ever since the wrx came out. mines would be nice, but its too big after seeing the 07 sub one
ommmjido 04-19-2006 12:55 PM

good luck!
ittybitty_STI 04-19-2006 02:38 PM

+1 i wouldnt mind one in cf
ControlFreak 04-19-2006 02:48 PM

I'd be interested in one too, I'm not sure if I'm into this type of wing on an STi but I can dig it for my rex.
captain spaulding 04-19-2006 05:48 PM

i doubt it has much aero benefit over the mines, but i'd much rather have a oem part on my car vs. an aftermarket..

I think you are way off on that one. Subaru would not waste the time and money of making a lip spoiler if it didnt improve performance. Prodrive was thinking about making a lip spoiler just like this one and they said it could provide more downforce than the WRX wing. Subaru has also said time and time again they are forcusing on the aerodynamics of the WRX to improve performance rather than more power etc etc....so putting a non-functional aero part on their top of the line vehicle seems VERY unlikely.

Mines on the other hand most likely didnt waste money on expensive wind tunnel testing, especially for a lip spolier that will be put on subarus.

thats what I think
WRX8XB 04-19-2006 07:24 PM

the real Mines spoiler was designed and tested to be used with the stock wrx wing.
Phil Jr. 04-19-2006 07:35 PM

thats odd, didnt know that
Not sure what you are refering to but if you are asking why the WRX has the mines lip with the oem spoiler, it is because the mines R&D designed the mines lip to work in conjuction with the oem spoiler. Im sure if you search for pictures of the mines car with this spoiler it will have the OEM wing along with it as well.
thanks!

wanna bet? :p

in this instance you are wrong.

this limited STi is for those that dont want the bling of the
"WRC" Style STi and WRC aerodynamics that have been well tested

the huge STi scoop, diffusers, and rear spoiler
exist on the car so that they can be utilized on the WRC rally car...
these items have been tested. and do the job on the real deal.

but this limited STi?
this car is toned down aesthetically
added creature comforts
added weight

they removed the rear wing
and added the cute little rear wing
for the 30-somethings that dont want the boy racer look
but still want the power

nah.
that wing aint there for anything but looks.
but it looks alright....

Yea I will bet you, how much? I havent seen any proof yet either way, so im gonna come out swingin :D
Yea I will bet you, how much? I havent seen any proof yet either way, so im gonna come out swingin :D
swingin at thin air...

why do you think they "created" this car?

to race?

come on...

it's the "gentleman's STi"

it is not at all like the WRC car

sunroof? leather? heated? no spoiler? no aerodynamics....

even a n00b can figure this one out. :alien:
Phil Jr. 04-19-2006 09:25 PM

hmmm, i wonder why they added the front v-limited lip then? That is quite beneficial aero wise, so why would the rear lip not be? No aerodynamics?

Its still has re070s...they are a long shot from a gentleman's tires. Also, subaru has stated they wanted to make a car that was luxurious yet still packed the same punch of the regular STI.

I bet just by removing that park bench they were able to compensate for most of the added weight. I dropped probably 25 lbs off my car by going to the smaller wing, with just a lip the weight savings are even greater.

what exactly makes you think the regular STI is anything like its WRC brother? Just because the wings look similar doesnt mean jack aero wise.

ok....so 50 bucks says the limited rear lip has aero benefits.

edit: btw, im totally bench racing so anyone with some real data feel free to prove me right or shut me up
wrb2006sti 04-20-2006 01:51 AM

i would like to get the front lip spoiler for my sti i know its the same as the jdm ones but it will be nice to get one at a local suby dealer.
Subie Gal 04-20-2006 10:51 AM
ok....so 50 bucks says the limited rear lip has aero benefits.
you're on

you go find data that proves that blinging blingy bling does anything other than look.. um... nice?

even the Mines spoiler (similar design) does NOTHING without the OEM spoiler
it was designed to work in conjunction with the other spoiler....

good luck on that one....
agentmaxwell 04-20-2006 11:42 AM

either go with the stock wing or go wingless...this thing is stupid looking any way you slive it
Crystal STI 04-20-2006 07:21 PM

Not really worth the money IMO
riSTI 04-22-2006 04:22 PM

I kind of like it. I have been looking for an alternative to the Mines lip.
The Dayman 04-23-2006 01:53 AM

idk, i kinda like the normal wrx spoiler better
