2006 Impreza Rear emblem *update*

Okay, we had our first sale of this item recently.
there was speculation as to how the emblem would attach.
whomever indicated it has posts on the backside - - you were correct
see:

It is adhesive backed - and does have these 2 rather large posts
SOOOOOOOOOO...
if you plan on installing on your non 2006 model Sedan or Wagon,
you will need to file those posts down/off to get a good fit :)
let me know if anyone has any questions
have fun :D

I like the depth of the blue background....its a nice looking emblem.

That's too bad for people who want to de-badge an 06.

I wonder if subaru did that purposely so you could not easily take off the Subaru name.

That would be my guess.
We've known all along they were perusing these boards :)

Did the 06s get a front emblem like this, and is it the same size as the 04/05s? That blue background is really nice.

Front emblem:

It is a bit larger than the older model emblems
It also appears to have prongs/posts on the backside
I dont think it will work :(

Swapping a trunk lid with an 06'er may be your best bet at getting that badge.

Is the front and rear emblem the same size? Maybe that's the reason for the posts - to make a common part between front and rear.
| mindchatter | 08-19-2005 04:09 PM |
<sigh> I'm going to figure this out, as I really like the look of that badge. (it was me who'd asked earlier this week Jamie). But first I need to have the back of my car repainted, as I'm getting the trunk lock shaved and a scratch repaired. I was hoping they were plastic type plugs that would yield to some Dremmeling, but that appears to be wishful thinking.....wonder how one could remove those posts without destroying the rest of the badge....
| Orson | 08-19-2005 04:38 PM |
Just a thought - this badge with the posts will actually be good for those who want a badge on their aftermarket grills.

i can't imagine anyone wanting to buy a badge to stick on the back of their car. any work if the 04-05 trunks fit on the 06?
| StE823 | 08-19-2005 06:32 PM |
im wondering does it fit the 05 front?
the badge seems nicer than the 04-05

I'd say "no." At least not without some modifications. You could do the pillar-less mod the '04-'05, and then affix the new Subaru emblem to the middle of your grille somehow.

When i saw an 06 wrx in person i noticed that the bumper and tail light shapes were different. the little "bump" in the tail lights that pertruded into the bumper is actually smaller on the 06's than they r on the 04/05's. as for the actual trunk we'll have to hear from somone who tries it or find out the part #'s and see if they're the same unless they're the same but different part #'s due to the 06 having pre-drilled holes for the emblem.
Hey SubieGal,
Do u have a part number for the "subaru" badge for the 06's by any chance? and possibly a price quote?
Thanks

actually the rear bumper is exactly the same part number as the 04/05's
we think the tail lights can be swapped easily :)
06 emblem is up on the web now

hope this helps - holla with questions :)

Huh? I read that the bumper had the same p/n, thus the headlights had the same shape...
EDIT: Jamie beat me to it! :)

there is a difference in part number
and thus... must be some difference in the shape/form
if only slightly :)

thats seems the best idea to me for those who want to debadge 06 and rebadge <06. Kinda like the STis that wanted the WRX wing and the WRX that wanted the STi wing, just swap.

The rear badge's base is actually angled so the logo is perfectly verticle while the trunk is at an angle. So if you put that badge on the front, itll be angled down a little.

The 06 emblem MAKES the whole trunk..
All you who are completely shaved, some of you look like rice rockets... The emblem sets off the middle quite nicely, I wouldnt want to do without my emblem

Am I the only one that prefers the S U B A R U to the emblem?
I have no idea why... I just do.

Let me get this the too chrome pieces are for the guides that go into the 2 holes in the trunk lid and they are not rivets that hold this emblem on? So that would mean the emblem is held on with glue?
Is the piece on the inside with stars on one side and it is brown on the other side removable, so if you removed the insert piece you would just be left with a chrome frame and maybe a piece of plastic that would be the outside of the emblem?

Have you looked into whether or not you can sand down the inside and paint like you can with the front badges? I sorta doubt they're made all that differently.
im pretty sure they dont really care
Yup. They probably put the posts in to make alignment easy. Unlike the other emblems, which have a flat side to level with, an oval emblem would be hard to get perfect without some kind of guide.
