Hmm, STU and BSP ran Tues/Wed last year too, right?

I went through last years, and that is correct. Updated the original post.

Is it me, or are all AWD classes just on 2 days now other than the three classes with the least amount of Subaru (or AWD) participation (like less than 10 cars last year in STS/HS/FSP has AWD)

I see a trend that on case of rain, the rain either gets most of them or none of them (ie: if it only rains Tuesday)

Nationals always runs over 4 days. 1/2 on Tues/Wed and 1/2 on Thurs/Fri.

Usually, they'll alternate classes every other year. If you run on Tues/Wed one year, the following is usually Thurs/Fri. It's indifferent and nothing should be taken from it, other than Tues/Wed runs on an unswept course, and 1st classes on tuesday sweep it for the rest. The only contribution that could give is that Thurs/Fri have the benefit of running with rubber laid down (traction). But with the new Heartland Park surface, who knows what it's going to be like. One thing is for certain... it's going to be much nicer than having to sweep at Forbes! :D

This year, the only two classes running the sames days as last year are STU and BSP... both contain the bulk of AWD cars competing (and running with STX makes the majority on Tues/Wed.)

Hmm... might have to run STX again. That may be a good idea anyway since I can't seem to trophy in my own class

crystalhelix 04-10-2006 02:56 PM

I think I have asked this before but what is a "buddy certificate" again.

I may go, so someone claiming me as their buddy gets something? It would be my first time at nationals.

Oh yea... I was talking about Nats... but yea, I skipped out on the WR PRO because of the weather that I *may* have run into on the way down. My trip would have taken me the long way across TN... which got hammered by twisters.

Back on topic. I hope it rains at Nats!

Last year it got the person who claimed you a $25 discount on event entry. I -think- that two years ago when we were newbies at Nationals we got $50 off for the people who claimed us. Can't seem to find a $ amount associated with the buddy certificate this year.
Scooby South 04-10-2006 03:38 PM

OK...Who wants to claim Me..:)...

We should claim each other and save $25 each, lol.

Is there a rule against first timers claiming first timers?
jcroy66 04-10-2006 05:05 PM

I think it's supposed to be for veterans claiming first timers. Otherwise, Phil and I would have claimed each other in 2004 too. :) But I didn't ask for sure.

As far as I know, I think the $25 discount is on a Tour event for next year. So if you bring a newbie to 2006 Nationals, you get a $25 discount on a 2007 National Tour.
solo-x 04-10-2006 06:30 PM

hrm, CM and STS run Thur./Fri. not sure if that's a good thing or not...
Whiteghost 2.5 04-10-2006 08:41 PM

how much is Nationals?
KC 04-10-2006 08:55 PM

$100 if you've done a National Tour or Divisional.
$175 if not. :)
crystalhelix 04-10-2006 09:52 PM

Sweet, a $75 buck incentive. I will spend twice that in gas one way :p

better than nuthin'
SloRice 04-10-2006 10:26 PM

Not quite twice that. ;)

Pittsburgh to Topeka = 904 miles each way (according to Mapquest)

At 24mpg and 94 octane priced at ~$2.80, that's ~$211 in gas round trip.
crystalhelix 04-10-2006 10:44 PM

Bah...I am either going to be driving my car or a diesel excursion. STi = 250 miles to a tank and the excursion may make it on a tank and a half..
SloRice 04-10-2006 11:05 PM

^^Same here, either driving the STI out there or borrowing my mom's Tahoe and towing it out there.

When tours were more than $75 away (I spend that much going to one of our LOCAL events towing)... I just paid the waiver because it would have been like $400 in gas, hotel, food, entertainment, etc. The waiver is a beautiful thing for those that the events were too far away.

By the time the nationals are ready ....gas will be in the $3.50 range....already 2.99 for 93 down here
Scooby South 04-11-2006 08:07 AM

Has anyone actually raced @ Heartland Park..for a local or divisional??? What is the grip like..."typical" asphalt...or is it grippyer (sp)...

Very true.....gas was in the $3.50 - $4 range last year in September.
Skibum4444 04-11-2006 12:52 PM

Now I have no excuse for missing the Pro. I can't wait for 26 hour 1900 mile drive! Coming home last year my Codriver and I cut 4 hours off the drive doing it straight through, I'm not doing that again.

No. There will be some regionals there over the summer and then a Midiv in August, which will no doubt be quite popular ;)
