GotWRX03 06-17-2006 11:40 AM

early problems for the DB9s - loving it for the corvettes! :D
rupertberr 06-17-2006 11:41 AM

One Aston Martin down after only 16 minutes and it isn't even the ProDrive one.

OK duh, I see the real thread now...
GotWRX03 06-17-2006 11:53 AM

Pacobeagle 06-17-2006 12:14 PM

WTH, is with that rule about "You can't spin the tires leaving the pits, or it's a 3min stop-n-go penalty?"

That's just nuts
GotWRX03 06-17-2006 12:16 PM

for real!!! it's one of the craziest rule i've ever heard.
IronMonkeyL255 06-17-2006 12:22 PM

Finally!

Something interesting to watch!
Pacobeagle 06-17-2006 12:22 PM

Tell me about it, what is the world coming to when you can't spin tires at a motorsports race and the leading car(s) are turbo diesels and you can't even hear them coming!!!!!!!

AHHHH YES, how times change
GotWRX03 06-17-2006 12:43 PM

Imagine... WRX/STi with turbo 4 diesel engine :D

...nice
GotWRX03 06-17-2006 12:57 PM

Edit... For Now...

Man, whose smart idea was it to hold the Zurich 24 Hours @ the Nurburgring Nordischliefe and Le Mans on the same weekend? There happens to be another Subaru team this year, with Chris Atkinson being the contributing SWRT driver.

Now, back to the "Vingt-quatre Heures du Mans!"
GotWRX03 06-17-2006 01:50 PM

nice. wishing that was televised here in US as well.
CirrusWRX 06-17-2006 01:55 PM

Stephane Sarazin is running Le Mans today too :)

I'm going to start uploading a Speed torrent as soon as the first part is over at 3:00pm EST. I'll post a link when it's up.
GotWRX03 06-17-2006 01:58 PM

in-car camera would be sweet!
GotWRX03 06-17-2006 02:43 PM

both #7 and #8 cars are having some problems - #7 seems to be worse. not sure about #8 yet  this is turning out to be good for Pescarolo :D
shwoop_soobie 06-17-2006 02:45 PM

DIESEL PRIDE!
GotWRX03 06-17-2006 03:00 PM

Good news for Racing for Holland too! ;) :D
WRXedUSA 06-17-2006 03:30 PM

Bernd Schnieder is driving an Evo in the Nur24.
JZ oo7 06-17-2006 06:01 PM

stop it!!! i'm at work, and it doesn't make a difference because i don't have SPEED. can't wait for the torrents.
Vampyr 06-17-2006 06:43 PM

oh boy... Le Mans is being shown on speed.. the ONLY other auto racing event other than NASCAR versions 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6.

I love Le Mans, but Speed channel never shows the field of cars, only the from 3 or 5 drivers. I watched it once and only saw 6 cars for an entire 30 minutes.. (felt like I was back at the F1 race in Indy)
CirrusWRX 06-17-2006 08:22 PM

Speed having testicle difficulties - they have VERY poor audio right now with NO video. Supposedly bad weather right now, not sure if they had a lighting strike or something.

Either way, it sounds like AM radio quality and a frozen splash screen.

:(

Speed isn't in charge of the coverage. They're capturing the feed from a certain production crew, and dubbing in their own commentary, much like they do for F1. As far as I know, David Hobbes, Bob Varsha, et al, are at the SpeedTV studios in Charlotte.
Twrx8 06-17-2006 08:36 PM

...great coverage, wouldn't expect anything less from good ol speed channel...

rupertberr 06-17-2006 08:42 PM

Loeb's putting in some pretty impressive times while running in second. 3:42's.

Lammers is hanging on to 3rd. If it wasn't for those two extra stops it would be a great battle for second.

#8 Audi is walking away, 4 laps up so far doing 3:35's.
CirrusWRX 06-17-2006 09:11 PM

moving pictures again!
So Cal STI 06-17-2006 10:16 PM

I was out all day (getting the STi serviced). Got to catch up with everything! Yay Prodrive Aston Martin!
Rail 06-17-2006 10:35 PM

That Audi transmission stop earlier was nuts.
GotWRX03 06-17-2006 10:42 PM

#17 (Loeb) is now down to less than a lap - thanks to a tranny problem on the #8 ;-)
CirrusWRX 06-18-2006 12:12 AM

Loooootttttttttsssssssss of racing left to go - plenty of stuff to break, including humans!! ;)
mofugga 06-18-2006 12:38 AM

hoppe shoulda hired audi to swap his tranny's ;)
psg 06-18-2006 12:47 AM

This is the longest period of continuous coverage that I recall Speed doing. 14 1/2 hours (!!!) straight this stint, all the way to the podium celebration
bemani 06-18-2006 12:52 AM

Did the Prodrive cars break yet?
doublej 06-18-2006 01:25 AM

ya its looking good this year besides all the debree on the track.
mofugga 06-18-2006 01:32 AM
Did the Prodrive cars break yet?
007 did, i think it's 4th in class, the 009 is leading gt1 & is 4th overall!
RBelcher00 06-18-2006 01:54 AM

Man, I wish I could watch more of it.

My girlfriend is here, and she refuses to watch any more.

That means I refuse too... :(

Hopefully in the morning...

Since this is the combo Le Mans + Zurich 24 thread, I thought I'd pass along a photo of the Impreza that was fielded in the Zurich 24hr Rennen @ Nordischilefe. Spotted this at dailysportscar.com:

From the SWRT website ticker:
Atkinson update - Chris has completed his first-ever circuit race, the Nurburg 24 hours, finishing 13th in class. 'It was great experience, I really enjoyed it,' he reported
Tell me about it, I couldn't hear them coming around a corner to be ready to take a picture. Had to be on a straightaway to catch them.

These on the other hand could be heard perfectly.

Dr. WOT 06-19-2006 01:15 PM

Just to balance out the complaints, THANK YOU SPEED for showing 20 out of 24 hours of Le Mans, something nobody else has ever done. Is there more complete coverage anywhere else in the world? I really have to wonder.

Great race, I watch a lot of it and left it on while I slept on Sat night.

Audi did a great job with the TDI, I really hope they can apply what they learn to the street cars. That said, I'd much rather see Pescorlo get a win, he really deserves it.

Great to see such an exotic mix of machinery, I wish they could be more of these cars over for the ALMS races and Sebring.

The lower classes were great, too bad for the Aston, but the Vette is hard to beat. Great to see Luc Alfan doing well in the 2004 car too, how cool is he? World class skier, Darak winner, Le Mans driver. Damn I'm jealous.
