Those tail lights are much better then the altezzas he had on before!

I agree, the second set doesn't look too bad... but I just
don't get the amount of hate on i-club. oh well.
I wouldn't put them on my car though... :D

I dunno if anyone has ever thought of this, but personally the reason why i don't like altezza lights is because of all that chrome, and after doing headlight mod, i was wondering if the altezzas would look better if someone did a taillight mod to them?
I see the black chrome/carbon style altezzas out there and they don't look too bad, on the ISes themselves, the lights actually look pretty good with a black instead of silver, seeing as how you don't really need a reflector for tailights and all.

They look great to me, much much much better than the ones he had on his car before.
BTW, those are like the "jewel cut" type that are on the new facelifted '03. Looks really nice at night.

Remember this:
The "altezza" styling of lights has cross pollinated from the US to the UK - they are now the hot property over there, whereas they're completely played here.

altezzas are very evil  i hate them:monkey:

The Red Altezzas look decent to me, but there's just one problem with them...There seems to be a chrome/silver lip around them that stands out on anything other than a Silver car. I saw a pic of them on a blue car and it looked real cheezy

The last ones he showed really weren't that bad for altezzas, I saw a set on a newer Accord and I kinda liked them
Ah well, to all his own.

digitaltekniq, I can assure you they are NOT hot property over here. They are liked by the same sort of people without taste or class that like them in the US.
It is very sad when you see someone with a brand new STI changing the fronts for cheap Morette clones and the rears for Altezza's. I keep looking for the furry dice hanging from the interior mirror and leopard-skin seat covers to match the [email protected] exterior.
My STI lights will stay the way Subaru intended, along with the other 99% of STI and WRX owners.

the new ones aren't altezzas
they're just red clears
they're like jdm rears....
altezzas are characterized by the clear surrounding patches of red tail light
the clear charictoristically has chromed plastic, or fake carbon fiber pattern behind it, and the red patches are usually almost pink in color
the red patches usually do not flow with the lines of the car at all, and are just squeezed into the clear field any way that they can fit
the red/clears are not altezzas, they're just like jdm tails

Why would anyone wanna shell out $150-$200 for those jaguar tail lights when they look so much like stock. Makes no sense to me.

light up as circles...i think they are ok and wouldnt mind a set i think

I like the 2nd ones better but that doesn't mean I would sport 'em...I don't know, I just never liked the Altezza look. It looks good on some cars like the 3rd gen eclipse and of course, the IS300 (altezza) :D

thats a waste of money. the stock is fine and for those prices on altezzas you can buy performance mod already.
| Kevex | 10-25-2002 12:18 AM |
I think the reason people over here or I-Club don't like altezza light is because most people think they are in "higher" class then those high school kid with Hondas.
But in UK, cars are an expensive item, so there are no high school kid with riced out honda wearing Altezza everywhere around the corner, so the scooby owner are cool with that.
personally I think the black chrome on looks really nice, I've seen them at a local street racing(shoudn't be there....:o ) and they look really good.
but for me I wouldn't put any kind of Altezza on my car, because they are basically too played out, and most of them don't have the quality I am looking for.

But, Impreza owners in England have better engine performance already. ;)

idk if someone said it already, but arent that guy's new ones jaguar style lights? anyway, the new ones look pretty good to me :D
| localsdspec | 10-25-2002 04:45 AM |
i'm half and half on them. Here in San Diego almost every other car, truck/suv has altezza's. and i can't stand to look at them. But these look somewhat decent, it does look like the new 03's tails.
I saw a Black Integ with painted black altezza's, and to me it looked decent but it would only work with a black car, and on some cars only.

btw, what kit is that on that car? and are those OZ F1? do they make those in 18's?

I've always liked the Jaguar Type S style lights. The 3d jewled look is an improvement, but they are still subtle enough to avoid the appreciation of spikey haired 17-year-olds.

maaaaaan...the second ones ARE altezzas..hehe..its just looks like the stock lights(or jaguar style)...but what i dont like about them is that in the corners where the clear part is..a small part shows this ugly chrome(too shiny)..they are not jdm's..because jdm lights dont shine circles..thats why they are called altezzas..because of the circles
oh yea..also..ive had these for more than half a year now and i dont have any problems w/ them..definately change from the ugly square lights you see at night:D

I like the jeweled cut "Type S" lights. If that is basically what is coming on the 04's, I imagine popularity will rise among the bug eyes to look "newer". I'm not trying to start flames, but that's just something that I think may happen in the future.

Yep the jag altezza's look just like the new '03 (European) spec tail lights
Overall his car look's much better with the jag's versus the old altezza's before!

Yeah, I like the new ones better, but not $200 better.
Strangely enough, I don't mind seeing Altezza's on Honda's, Subaru's, Toyota's, or Nissan's. Not my taste, but I can at least respect them. The only time I REALLY hate them (and usually share my opinion quite vocally) is when you see them on Ford Mustang's or Dodge trucks. Who the **** thinks this is a good idea?
I have nothing against American iron, but putting Altezza's on an American car is like painting a Rebel flag on a RX-7.

:monkey: just say no to altezzas....they're too expensive for lights that look almost the same as stock...and the other altezzas are just plain ugly
but hey...it's his style, he can do what he wants

hmmm, a question
I read a post a couple posts up about how someone saw a black integra with the black altezzas... so I have a question.
Would it be possible to paint the chrome parts of the altezza lights, the same color as the body color of the car (whatever color it is), or is the chrome there for reflective purposes, and thus necessary.
I was just curious if it was possible to paint the insides of the altezzas body color, similar to what people do to the front headlight (DIY mod) where I have seen people paint the inside of the fronts body colored.
Just curious about this idea or if anyone had done it or could photoshop it-- like photoshop that rear shot of the UK scooby at the top of the thread
I am not planning on buying altezzas or doing this, but was just curious how it would look
