Lspr 2004 part 1

thechickencow 09-29-2004 11:17 PM

Lspr 2004
Who's gonna be there? I haven't registered yet, but registration is open.

I'll be running both clubrallies in G5 (#583), staying at the HQ most likely. I'm looking forward to another rally and moving up from Seed 8 (just need another finish).

your friend still co-driving for you and find him a suit?
tooocool49723 09-30-2004 12:32 AM

I'll be there... spectating, lol. wish i could drive in it, but being a poor college student just doesn't offer the opportunity to be a rally driver...

actually, ive done 2 now on my college budget ;)
thechickencow 09-30-2004 01:26 AM

We're still looking for a suit.
dch 09-30-2004 01:34 AM

Who's your co-driver Jay?
thechickencow 09-30-2004 02:09 AM

dwx (Phil Bedard) will be codriving for me, I'm not sure how much interest he has in codriving long term, but it should be good for LSPR. 3 rallies, 3 different codrivers. It'd be nice to have somebody to get used to but I think I'll work on that next year.

Are you running doug?
dch 09-30-2004 10:28 AM

Yep, I'll be there and Tim O'Neil will be in the #2 car for the end of the season festivities. I'm personally hoping that the snow holds off for this one, but I'm bringing snow tires anyway because ya just never know about LSPR... :D

Make sure when the notes say "don't cut" on Saturday (Burma) that you believe 'em! Big nasty rocks on the inside of those corners... I think they're imported from Maine ;)

Cheers,
-Doug
thechickencow 09-30-2004 12:08 PM

I won't be running notes, but I know what you mean - those rocks are likely still listed as cautions. I worked Finish controls on Burma last year and saw 2 cars that dnf'ed just due to those rocks.

I am also hoping for no snow cuz I plan on riding my bike up for Saturdays events.
90ProLXRally 09-30-2004 03:41 PM

I'll be there. Hoping to keep my completion rate at 100%. This time, however, I'll have my own lights and intercom. ;)

Someone- anyone who's going up, please tell Dennis Martin (Evo 4) to not crash. Oh yeah, and tell him Sean says hi.

I wish I could be there. Rally stages all day, fishbowls and pizza all night a the Bass. Good old memories.
thechickencow 10-01-2004 10:53 PM

As of Tuesday next week, the car will be aligned and corner weighted. Tires will be mounted up after that, then I'm ready to go! Looks like I'll have one set of rally tires, and one set of Hakka C2's.
Hondaslayer 10-01-2004 10:59 PM

Won't be able to make it as I will be closing on my house.

Hopefully my car will be ready for next year though
nate49509 10-02-2004 12:34 AM

I'll be there. I'm really hyped. Haven't been to a rally since Sno Drift this year.
thechickencow 10-08-2004 01:09 PM

I got my car back from aligning and corner weighting yesterday, it feels great. It had 1.3" toe in front right, I knew it had some, but I dodn't know it had that much. Its much much more stable now and should be great for LSPR.
nate49509 10-08-2004 01:21 PM

Cool! I'll make sure to get some pics of ya.
fliz 10-08-2004 02:10 PM

I found a place to stay, now I just need to decide if I'm headed up to watch or not.

To anybody that's been before, how well will a 1" lower WRX be able to get around on the back roads? Can I keep my well-worn summer tires on, or should I throw on the snow tires?

Hmmm...wonder if I can get Rachel to take off of work on Friday so I can see both days...

I went to school for five years in Houghton(drove an escort at the time), here is my opinion:

If it is the stock front facia, I'd say you just have to pay attention; Houghton is built on a big hill, but a 1 inch drop should be alright with some attention. The routes out to the stages are generally flat, well maintained and traveled main roads.

Accuweather says it will probably stay above freezing, but just barely. Warm weather for that time of year in Houghton. I'm throwing on my all seasons regardless, as Houghton sticks out into Lake superior, and the peninsula catches wind pretty good. Near freezing temps with wind/breeze means the road surface can get below freezing.

Thanks. I'll probably throw on the snows just in case. They'll do better on any gravel roads regardless.

It's a stock front lip, so I'm not too concerned about that. But this summer I was travelling down a "closed" road (construction) with what looked like minor ruts and I could hear scraping.

Now they just need to post the spectator maps!
speedyHAM 10-08-2004 04:58 PM

Be careful if you are running any of the un-maintained gravel roads out to a mid-stage point, some of the ruts get deep and will damage the underside of the car if you aren't careful.

That said, I think the best spectator point is probably the Delaware hairpin. Unless of course they are letting spectators up on Brockway again.

Jay and I know nothing about that. Really.

Nothing about what? ;)

Chad- If you're super worried about it, I've got a front skid and a rear diff guard that I can lend you. If you're just driving to spectator points you'll have no trouble, and even without them the car won't be hurt really if you're careful. I was on my current setup as it is now, with 3 of us and crap in the car on some pretty rutted roads last year.
Protege Menace 10-08-2004 07:47 PM

Well I think i found a ride for a polish guy in a PGT DSM.

LSPR here I come

now i need to find someone from minneapolis to get a ride up there with :X
digitalpimp 10-08-2004 09:00 PM

you can hitch a ride with me if you like, i leave late wed night.
Protege Menace 10-08-2004 09:57 PM

hmmm. ill ask ted since i know him and all, if not i might get ahld of you and split the cost of gas (what you driving? a rig pulling the rally car or what?)

thanks
nate49509 10-09-2004 03:01 AM

If anyone needs a room contact me. I have an extra room for Thursday and Friday. Its downtown at the Kings Inn.
Clegg 10-09-2004 09:35 PM

I got a room at the College Inn for the 21,22,23 for 2 beds. Just this last week, so if anyone is looking for a room I would check there since they still had availability. its a bit of a hole but much better than some of the alternatives ;)
nate49509 10-14-2004 03:53 AM

I don't see Pat Richard on the entry list. Did he run out of funds? Or doesn't need the win?
mike270 10-14-2004 04:17 PM

I read over on www.specialstage.com that Nathalie is looking for a drive at LSPR so he is definitely not going to be there. Why, I don't know. He already clinched the championship so he doesn't need to go but I would still think he would be going as its the last SCCA ProRally ever.
akuhner 10-15-2004 09:43 AM

Pat won the 2004 driver's championship already, I would save any funds for next year if I were him too.

NC Rally will be there with Otis Dimitiers taking on Christian Edstrom as a temporary co-driver, and we'll be servicing one of the Irish EVO's as well. I get to fly out this year, whoo who!
