I think that would look awesome on a slammed Prelude or maybe Civic with a 5" exhaust tip and that excellent lawnmower sound. Actually, those are the only cars I've ever seen with owners tasteless enough to pay money for crap like that.

You'd better have one heck of a lip spoiler so you aren't doing wheelies by accident every time you pull away from a stoplight or merge onto a freeway. :D

Did Gillette design that? Sure looks a lot like their razors!

So you're going to take the hoodscoop off and leave a gaping hole in the center of the hood?
How about a Turbo Kit for that car first? And I second the Cusco/STI Wing suggestion, these are awesome looking in person and will in no way hamper the performance of your car.
That wing above is for looks alone, and is probably quite heavy and essentially non-functional.

the hoodscoop comes off. meshing is put in place. the metal plate will be modified so it can still be put on when driving in rain. i was thinking about using valcrow with sticky on one side and just sticking it on the hood and the scoop, then just push the two parts together when it rains. front mount intercooler is what i'm havin so that's what i need to do so i get air flowing out of the engine bay

EDIT: the wing is 40 degrees adjustible

I think I speak for a lot of us here when I say:
WHAT?!
If you're actually wanting a car that can perform... that wing is not the way to go. Get an STi or Prodrive adjustable wing. If you just want something to look m4D tYT3 so you'll fit in at HIN... that might be a good spoiler.
But still.. what are you talking about with the hood and intercooler?

oh this..........
because i'm thinking of having a front mount intercooler, i'm gonna have the hood scoop open for heat to escape. some meshing is going to go in place of the scoop.
i'm thinking of having the carbon hood w/out the scoop.
something that'll look like this,

how much degree of angle does the prodrive and STi have? this wing has 40 degree of angle, plus it looks awesome!! better than any other i've seen.
the STi is like almost 1 or 2 grand i think? OEM part.............
400 bucks for this wing................

Fuji,
I have two issues with yer proposed mods:
1.) About the wing... w/ the Prodrive, STi or C-West, you're paying for quality... you can get a sexy Fiero for $60G's... but it won't perform or have the quality of a Porsche see? So Ditch the APR and get a higher quality part... there is no replacement for quality man...
2.) The mesh thats supposed to replace the hoodscoop... I have a better idea that won't leave you prone to probs w/ rain and snow considering the fact that you're in Minnesota...
option 1. -> Stick with the Top mounted intercooler option... it may not look as cool, but more likely than not you won't run in to problems with psi-drop or turbo lag due to extra piping...
option 2. -> If you are set on the Front mounted intercooler, and want to use the hoodscoop location as a way to get rid of heat, do this: Turn the hoodscoop around and the make an opening in the front of the hood to let air in... that way the air will come in through the first opening, pass over the engine and internals then come out of the reversed hoodscoop which will greatly increase cooling efficency over your proposed idea... I can try to get a pic fer yah if you need more details
hope this helps

If you're going for the GT style wing, consider the STI carbon fiber wing. Expensive but matches the car perfectly.

it does help!!! but i've seen the hood turned backwards. it looks funny but yes it works!! but IMO, it would look better w/out the scoop.
the part you're talking about ".............make an opening in the front of the hood to let air in.................." that would be the grill(did i spell that right?)?
BTW, the wing part. APR does pretty well in quality. the wing IMO is awesome looking and performs well. 40 degree of angle attack.
oh well my tastes are different.....................:D i like metal wings. they make you look like one of those GT cars. plus i'll have a turbo to back up the extremness............
thanks for your inputs!!!!! i-club family!!

That wing, as well as almost any rear wing, will only slow your car down. It would only add noticeable down-force gains if you were going much faster than your RS can go. At 200+ MPH I bet that wing would begin to help. Wings are mostly for looks, and I think that wing looks dumb
| sherifx | 11-29-2001 12:22 AM |
you know, its times like this that make me wish I was still an engineering student and have access to the two wind tunnels at my old school... it'd be pretty cool to see the windflow characteristics coming offa that wing and to see if there is any downforce created at all, let alone around 65+ mph, or if it created more drag as a result of the fact that it wasn't designed around the subaru's current design... but thats my personal reason for going for the higher quality, Prodrive/STi/C-West wings... they're better made and designed imho... and the carbon fiber ones are sooooo light... me n' carbon fiber sittin in a tree hehe... I used to work w/ a company that made c/f racing mirrors... ohhh... it was sooo much fun heh... I should gotten some before I left heheh :)

right now i'm still looking..........i'm gonna have my brother's 92 or 93 Celica ST 5 speed for temp. use untill i get my Impreza. well i need to go get my license some day soon.

That type of wing might look descent on a GT car with an ultra wide body. (Check out Grand Tourismo). But on a standard body Suby, it's a little too much. Well, to each, his own...

fellow minnesotan...
Hey Fuji... being that I live in the same area as you and all... I would agree that removing the hood scoop is not a very practical idea for a daily driver... if it is not, then you might be able to get away with it.
If you are just thinking of getting a MY01 -- than just start out with a fiberglass of cf hood w/o the hood scoop. Get one with the heat release if you want it. I know that they make it.
That spoiler.... IMHO doesn't look that great on your car, even if it is for show. The judges don't look for a certain type of mod to fill a quota, they SHOULD be looking at the overall presentation of the vehicle.... is it balanced, does everything fit, does everything look like it belongs... If you have that, you will have a nice show car and a very celan and hot daily driver.
But, if you are dead set on that wing, then you may have to get the TRIAL TRY-R wide arch kit and 19" rollers. Than you would have a balanced look... but I still think the wing would look too big.
I am not sure the exact price of the Cusco wing, but I heard from people who went to SEMA it is only going to be around 5 bills for the MY02 ++ . Now, if that is the case, I am all over that.
Why don't you go check out Project D in Bloomington (corner of 90th and Lyndale behind TomThumb)... let them help steer you in the right direction.... they have a single deck CF wing that you could put on your rear lid (when you get your car) to see how it would look.
But, if I see a MY01 next summer -- w/ a tall double deck aluminum
wing, I'll know it is you... :)

Another fine, worthless Fuji K thread. That spoiler will make your car look like a r1c3b0y, because hey, you are. It will add a lot of weight, and provide no benefits whatsoever becuase the car just can't go fast enough to use it. Even if you COULD go fast enough, why would use you a piece of crap from APR?
