APR Performance Wide Body Kit! (Kick Ass Look)
Hey guys,

For all of you 04-05 owners your in luck. For us 02-03 owners we are not. This kit looks great and the best one I have found yet. Problem is APR doesn't make a wide body for us 02-03 owners. I e-mailed them and got a reply saying they might at the end of this year. What about right now! I wanted to do the 04 conversion but if APR will make a kit for the 02-03 I would not do the conversion. Thats the only reason I want to do it. If you 02-03 guys e-mail these guys enough maybe we can get them to do one sooner for our model year. Check it out and see if you guy's like the kit and if you do tell APR to make on for us. Meh. Its alright...I think I will keep mine as stock as possible.
SLKWrx 02-22-2006 04:00 PM

Whats the deal with the mirrors? And those little baby wings on the front bumper? Other than that it looks nice. Can't believe it includes new doors, its a well put together kit, I'll give it that
InfamousDX 02-22-2006 04:41 PM

^^ CANARDS. Like front and rear air splitters... but for the side.
frayz 02-22-2006 07:57 PM

gandor mirrors = bling. That car was planned before it was put together.. unlike 90% of the cars here. Everything fits soo nice, wheels, great job. hope they are wide, and not *** offsets :)
WRXplatinum 02-22-2006 08:39 PM

Hott!
MF-DIF 02-22-2006 08:51 PM

The front fenders don't look that flared? The rear does though. Looks good.
frayz 02-22-2006 09:22 PM

Looks 1000000000 times better than the horrid chargespeed item!!!
js3324 02-22-2006 09:24 PM

What about us 05-06 guys? lol

Also the chargespeed is a matter of taste, although the APR is a bit better looking because it retains stockness but its wider and has really nice added touches.
Nnorris7413 02-22-2006 10:52 PM

Man that looks nice. It looks a hell of a lot like the APR widebody kit for the evo.
Jonnyfilmboy 02-23-2006 08:51 AM

WTLW, this is old news. But it is a really nice kit. Did you guys see the prices? Yeah, expect to shell out at least $3500 for the kit, bodywork is another $1000 at least, then $1000 for a full-body paint job, followed up by new wider rims for $2000. For for at least $7500, you can get that look. :)

Looks awesome though.

If you buy the APR kit for 04-05 body style for your 02-03 you realize that It would fit provided you bought an 04-05 hood (might as well get carbon) and 04-05 headlights right? If you are buying fenders and everything from this kit you might as well just add a hood and headlamps to finish everything off and then you dont have to wait.
Bundyboyz 02-23-2006 09:21 AM

If you get a thousand dollar full body paint job

My full body was over 6K including the cost of a rental car for a month.

good call there... what about the trunk?
BurtonCR 02-23-2006 10:38 AM

all wrx / sti trunks are the same with varying amounts of holes.
theicewall 02-23-2006 11:06 AM
good call there... what about the trunk?
Does the kit use a full rear bumper or a bumper lip. I thought it was a lip in which case you are okay. If its a full rear bumper than you need 04-06 tailights which can probably be had on e-bay or this board for very little compared to the cost of the rest of everything you need.

If you are going to do this I recommend making buddy buddy with some guys at a decent autobody spray shop. Talk to your mechanic, etc about who they know and who could get you a good deal that is still quality paint.

those look wide to me! edit: 18x10!!!

benjamin
dcorn 02-23-2006 02:44 PM

Yeah, I was gonna say APR is running 18x10's on their widebody Evo so I'm sure they wouldn't skimp on the WRX either.
theicewall 02-23-2006 02:51 PM

a) I wonder what they did to the inner fender to fit them

b) I wonder if the offset is less than 35mm

suspension must be stiff as hell because it looks like hitting a bump would cause the tire to hit the upper fender.
js3324 02-23-2006 04:19 PM

I guess this would put you in some ridiculous autocross class? I would like to keep as close to 100% stock class as possible.
Chp_Stix 02-23-2006 06:29 PM

repost
joehack98 02-23-2006 06:56 PM

autocross isnt the end all, people mod for many reasons. He does run a business, think of why he would go extreme.
theicewall 02-23-2006 06:58 PM

AutoX class? I dont think it would matter what class you were in because I dont know if the car could skid at all with 18x10 wheels with 280/35R18s R compound. Should be able to do a bit over a lateral G like that.
js3324 02-23-2006 09:20 PM

Wow I would love to have this widebody, 295 R compounds(295 is as big as it fits according to APR) on the widest lightest rims I could find, with some ridiculous 6,000 dollar ohlins coilover setup with resevoirs, and all the associated toys..god that would handle well and slingshot so hard out of corners

But oh well I am just dreaming(wetly)

I have to go check the wide tire thread but aren't people pulling off 275/285 tires on stock body peices with some mods?

Apparently, again according to APR, this kit comes with doors and everything so this seems like it would be bolt, adjust, and paint..
skinart76 02-24-2006 02:03 AM

I've been following the progress of this widebody kit since it's inception. And I must say, they did a damn good job with it. Very clean, flows just like the stock lines, it's one of the best looking by far. :D
STix66 02-24-2006 09:50 AM

Meh...too much for me.
Overkill
js3324 02-24-2006 03:59 PM

Just curious as to how it is overkill?

It looks almost stock but a bit wider besides the diffuser, wing, and canards.
theicewall 02-24-2006 04:28 PM

If I was installing the kit I would push for an S7/S8 WRC style wing and NO cannards, then there'd be no overkill.
ChrisL2 02-24-2006 06:35 PM

Personally, their MR2 widebody makes me want to go get an MR2 :)

However, I do like this widebody the most for the Subie.
theicewall 02-24-2006 09:51 PM

I like the veilside MR-s body kit. Kind of gives it the carrera gt like look. Combine that with an intercooled PE turbine kit and you can make 280hp easily with just an exhaust to support the turbo. The car weighs nothing.
wayne_rx 02-24-2006 11:44 PM

I like the heat vent in front of the intercooler air scoop design....Do they have just the hood sold separately?
darknightohio 02-25-2006 12:46 AM

I did a quick PS of the kits without the wing:

bomex180 02-25-2006 01:00 AM

Yes their widebody is bada$$....i have to say that since they sponsored my as well :D

Seriously, this kit kicksbutt.
lawn boy 02-25-2006 06:44 PM

deffinately IN on this one
ChrisL2 02-26-2006 12:44 AM

Now put that on a wagon :)
spoolinsuby 02-26-2006 01:22 AM

I would so rock this if I had a 04-05. Just more of a reason to do the conversion :D
