The Prodrive Aston Martins fought hard but no win. Congradulations to General Motors Corvette team for competing at the 24 of LeMans! Who knows, maby next year for Prodrive (in F1 or GT1) ;) .

Good race, I watched about 7 hours of it. I felt bad for the 009 but you gotta be there at the end. Cool to see the TDI take the win too.

 But, hay, Prodrive gave a good show (and in such a short time of devlopment with the Astons-and even with the Ferraris too)! When you think of it you take a completely unproven chassis/engine and dance with the best of them-right out of the box-you gotta giv'em props! However I'm so happy (and proud) of the "Good ol'e USA" Corvette Racing Team. They have come a long way and all their hard work gives them the right to be so dominant. You gotta have guts just to even enter and try to compete!

:p I wanted this thread to be GT1 specific, Prodrive centered-to generate conversation about cars we can relate to. Sorry to "ruin" the title for you! :D
So, how bout those Prodrive Astons 6th and 10th overall!

Hey So Cal STI, here is the deal, you don't put race results in the title of any thread. Many people can't watch the event when it happens and they Tivo it, tape it, torrent it or what ever and watch it a day or two later. People will log in and avoid race specific threads so it won't blow the race for them. If you put results in the title they can't avoid it and you blew it for them. That is why you are not allowed to put race results in the title.
Usually first offence is death followed by being banned and then they get really mad at you. So changing the title to something like GT 1 results before the Moderators wake up Monday morning might be a good thing. Or just leave it this way and we will see what happens.

What I really like about the Vette's, you can actually go and buy one with similar on-track performance! Definitly better than a stock Aston Martin (but it's fun to see what Prodrive can come up with to challenge GM)!

For a completely different point of view...
Regarding spoilers, I understand the complaints but I was hoping to find out what happened in the race and had limited time, so the "Vettes take it" got me right to the info I needed. I would still watch the race just for the halibut, saw about 6 hours worth in total. I guess watching is seeing the cars and the turns of the screw, even if I know who won. Reading a comment doesn't do much for me.
On another note, the clueless LA Times didn't print standings or finishing order. The race never happened. And they wonder why the Chicago Tribune is moving people around at the paper, firing some of the more clueless. Once Shav Glick retired, they have had zero brains about the sport. Sorry, just pissed off again. Better pissed off than pissed on, though.

You probably remember the "LA Times GP" at Riverside Raceway (I'm showing my age  ), and how they would hype that race up, yet you had to get the LB Press Telegram to any info about the LBGP! LA Times-bias, I feel ya brother! :D

^^I absolutely remember the Times GP, watching McLaren and Hall duke it out, Gurney blow his engine just past the bridge over the straight, in 3rd place about 3 laps into a race. Went in 65/66, the sights and sounds are indelible. A Cheetah rolled in the esses one year. Chris McCall's article in Car+Driver about learning to drive a Shelby GT350 at Riverside. Ken Miles' crash. Flying out of LAX to head east for college, looking down at the track and seeing a white car testing in 1969. Gurney's wins in stock cars, five in a row? Five 500 mile races in a row.
Now it is under some houses. Sigh. What I would give for a track day out there. Laguna Seca was like a pilgrimage. I may be a little unhinged but I could hear the Can-Am, Trans-Am ghosts whispering.
The only thing that hasn't changed is the bias of the Times in many matters (better since the editorial board shakeup some months ago, but still well off objective reporting). Chandlers as So Cal's royal family??? Well, they certainly think they are, at least some of them. I beg to differ...
I am happy to be showing my age...beats the alternative, most of the time!
Press on regardless, brother! Riverside lives on in us...
