Holy Toledo! Solo II National Tour June 7-8

Apparently I've been in a vacuum. I was just informed that NWOR is hosting a National Tour in Toledo June 7-8.
Is anyone planning on being there for this one? I can't make it to Topeka this year, so this will most likely be my biggest event.
I've heard good things about the surface up there since it's new as of last year. Only complaint I heard was that it was very dusty since it was curing still.

I should be there... altough 3 of the 4 Tours I'll be going to are all within 1 month of each other so one of them might have to suffer because of work...:p

I'm still working on my racing schedule. It's a little more difficult to plan since I'm also looking for a job.
I'm originally from the Toledo area so I'll definitely be there, racing or not!

Got it! Thanks!
I guess the event will be at the Toledo Airport on the BAX/Global property. They've used it in the past with sucess. Last time they used it, it was a final tune-up for Topeka. Unfortunately the area used was VIRGIN concrete, not having seen wheeled traffic of any sort. The first 2 run groups resembled Bonneville runs....without the traction! Many, many complaints, but those who ran last didn't have much trouble. There may be some pics on the NWOR site but all accounts say I'm glad that the car was inop that weekend!

How's it goin Jay?
The Toledo event last year was kind of amusing. Even in the second heat there was so much concrete dust on the surface it was like ice off the racing line. It was the only event where I spun the car last year. I also ended up with a helmet (and mouth) full of dust when the cloud surrounded my spinning car.
All that being said, count me in. It's only about 45 miles from where I live.

That's right! I was hoping to hear from you again.:)
I heard all about the surface form the OV Region Type R guys at Nats. They said it was a nice big open area, but was slick & dusty still when the event was held. The winter should be good for it.
I can't wait since it's just a few minutes from my parents house in Perrysburg. I'm getting antsy because my old region has already run 2 events this year and I'm not there to defend my championship!

147 registrants and we still have 2 months until the event! STX is the 2nd largest class with 10 cars!:D (Miata Stock has 11)
Houston Tour is this weekend and they have 233 total listed so far. Wish I was still down there for that one.
Edit: within the last 10 min. I noticed they updated the National site and Rome has been replaced with Washington D.C.
DC woulda been a shorter drive for me, but I'll be in Hawaii anyway.:disco:

NWOR has hosted a Cendiv series event there the last two years just before Nationals, running a copy of the previous years Karen Babb designed North course both times. Both events were a lot of fun and the concrete is in perfect condition. Two years ago we were right next to the Bax Global building, but last year due to new airport regulations they moved us further away and that spot had just recently been top coated with a layer of new concrete. It looked like a thin layer of new concrete on top of older stuff rather than a brand new slab. That meant it was really dusty, here are some pictures that sort of show it.
http://solo2.cendiv-scca.org/2002/02cendiv6.html
I would bet that this year it will be really perfect. The first year there the concrete was so new, flat, and perfect that it wasn't quite as grippy as some other concrete sites because it lacked any signs of weathering, but it was also really easy on tires. I would also bet this event hits the entry limit at some point. I'll be there but I don't run in my WRX, I run in CM.

I'm planning on it. It'll be my first National event and I'll go for the experience. (Translation: I'll probably come in last.)

Let's hope that's the case again this year! That was a great course except for my DNF and many, many cones!
Joel - cool last name!;)
Bruce - You and I can duke it out for DFL honors! My tires ought to be toast by then.

My plan is to try to run a couple, but Todd mentioned that they may not have them. I really hope his info is incorrect since I've never been on that surface.
You gonna stay down in Toledo? If so come on over for some food.

Orion - I wish I could make it by, but I'm staying with my girlfriend's father so I can't exactly ditch him. I could use a good meal and a cold beer after the 10 hour drive from Atlanta though...
I guess I'll bump into some of you at registration and tech on Friday. I'll have the blue WRX loaded to the gills with luggage and so forth. Too bad my co-driver tried to register too late and my new race wheels are held up in customs :( I'll have to try and keep up with you guys on my bling'n 18s and tall-boy 235/40/18s

it was new last year (i think). there was a CenDiv up there that Todd and the other OVR guys said was REALLY dusty since it was still curing. it should be awesome this weekend since it's had a year to 'season'.
