Hood pin look? part 1

ScoobyNubieToo! 02-26-2005 05:29 PM

Hood pin look?
Does anyone know of a hood pin kit out there that just attaches to the hood for looks? I love the way hood pins looks but I don't wanna put any holes in my hood.
colinrobinson 02-26-2005 05:31 PM

eww no
Trunk_Monkey 02-26-2005 05:32 PM

If you plan on keeping it on and you like the look then why not put the pins in?
ScoobyNubieToo! 02-26-2005 06:03 PM

Well, It's because I plan on trading my Subaru in when the redesign comes out.

That IMO would be rice. Real hood pins would be rice too IMO. There is no need for either one.

That's a pretty vague statement don't you think? Hood pins aren't always for looks you know...

5spdfrk 02-26-2005 09:31 PM

You're right how about this. If you have a hood that needs hood pins then do it, because you need it, not because it looks cool. They're aren't that many people who really need them and based on his statement he is one that doesn't.

I was generalizing my statement based on what his was. He obviously doesn't need real ones if he is considering fake ones.
ExecNav 02-26-2005 09:53 PM

I agree. :D

ScoobyNubieToo! 02-26-2005 10:02 PM

Whether people think fake ones are rice or not, who's gonna know but me, my mechanic, and the crew on Nasioc? Just looking for help. Anyone know where I can find'em?
ExecNav 02-26-2005 10:07 PM

I personally would never put such a thing on my car but hey, everyone has their own thing. :D

Yes fake hood pins are rice. But if you would like to lose the hood latch mechanism and save some weight or you just want to be extra sure your hood doesnt fly open then hood pins are your best friend.
5spdfrk 02-26-2005 10:42 PM

I guess, but losing the hood latch wouldn't save that much weight. Unless you are the type of person/racer who needs to lose extra weight here and there for some serious competing. In that case the hood pins would be totally legit.

Thanx for the link!
5spdfrk 02-26-2005 11:25 PM

If you do put these things on your car, just be careful when taking them off. Subaru paint isn't the greatest, especially on the hood.
sirbryanclark 02-26-2005 11:37 PM

you are just asking to be ripped on around here asking about something like that... and no you shouldn't do it, very rice... if you want hood pins get hood pins, but they are not needed with the stock hood...
Impr3zaGuy 02-27-2005 04:22 AM

OMG... This guy is really going to buy that POS?

Never come back to NASIOC or if you ever post pic of your fake hood pins, put on the flame suit and go to your mommy for some comfort.
jmaluso 02-27-2005 04:25 AM

this is the dumbest idea evAr!
adeliciouspizza 02-27-2005 04:59 AM

DIAHPA (die in a hood pin accident)
PossumK 02-27-2005 01:52 PM

New security device? Thieves can't figure out why hood pins aren't working? :)

I'm not asking to get ripped on, I'm asking about fake hood pins. Does everyones car on here have to look identical? I'm thinking about it...examining my options shall we say.
ScoobyNubieToo! 02-27-2005 09:13 PM

What's wrong with liking the hood pin look but not liking holes in your hood? Who the hell's gonna know they're fake but my mechanic? I don't know why I'm explaining my self to you guys. I bet every one of you who posted a negative comment probably can't figure out which Subaru is yours when ya go to a meet 'cause your car looks like everyone else's. I'm here for help...if I wanna be Bitched at, I'll go talk to my wife. :p
DJ_STI 02-27-2005 09:20 PM

My lord if I could buy fake hp for that price I would be sold in a moment.
moger21 02-27-2005 10:03 PM

personaly its your car so do what ever you want to it, if you think it looks cool then do it, and who cares what anyone else thinks ;)
My lord if I could buy fake hp for that price I would be sold in a moment.
Well, then ask DJ_STI about the Turbonator! ;)
DJ_STI 02-27-2005 11:17 PM
Well, then ask DJ_STI about the Turbonator! ;)
Don't tell anybody but I run 4 turbonators. The racers out here on the streetz think I only run 3 (the advertised maximum turbonators) but me and my mechanic were able to squeeze a 4th one under the engine bay. Now I must be pushing around 500whp and i get aprox. 40mpg because of all the increase in air flow.
QuickSilverSTi 02-28-2005 02:19 PM

Who is going to know? Everyone at any car meet that you go to.
I bet every one of you who posted a negative comment probably can't figure out which Subaru is yours when ya go to a meet 'cause your car looks like everyone else's.
OR, they would rather look like everyone else than put fake parts on their car.
Trunk_Monkey 02-28-2005 10:40 PM

Maybe get some real pins, then if you sell the car do a "hood swap"?
4wdrift 02-28-2005 10:48 PM

Back Off!!
You guys are f*in messed up. Keep your irrelivant comments and bashing to yourselves. If the guy wants fake hood pins, he can have 'em. Why shoud he change his taste because others don't like it? Everyone has their own opinions and preferences and guess what? They change! Just chill....

You do realize that putting anything on the hood, even if you can peel it off without damaging the paint, is going to cause weird fade marks in the paint, thereby lowering the value of the car.

If you really want to preserve the value of the car, buy a second hood and install them on it.
