How to paint things Wrinkle Red?

Hey guys,
I want to paint my SPT intake wrinkle red...obviously to match the intake manifold.
I was hoping i could get some advise on how to do this.

Just an FYI.
If you have access to a spray booth you can acheive a Honda valve cover like finish with a A/B Polyurethane.
If you spray it from 12 to 18 inches away it comes out perfect. And yes I do realize that is the wrong way to paint normally.

VHT makes wrinkle red and black, the red matches STI really well. I get their stuff at Summit Racing, fast delivery. All their paints are the bomb. I ussaully cure them in the home oven to speed up the drying process. Just let them dry fpr a few days amnd if the paint is still soft, bake for 250 degrees for and hour, let cool for an hour then 400 for an hour and cool. repeat if nessesary.

Intake manifold is powder coated not painted. You will not get a finish like the STI piece without powder coating.

Maybe its me, but he didnt say you will get the finish like the STI piece, he just stated that the color matches the STI red real well.

if you put it in the home oven it really brings out the wrinkle and cures it so much better...deff a plus..

Yeah spraying it from over a foot away in single passes gives it a nice and even texture.

Get the VHT Wrinkle paint and follow the instructions printed on the can. You will not be disapointed. Make sure the surface is clean/prepped properly. I've seen it used on all sorts of stuff, plastic, aluminum, stainless steel.
A hair drier works well to speed up the curing process.

In other news I heard the VHT factory burnt down, and finding VHT paint around here is nearly impossible.

I have the wrinkle paint and its not what I want... it does excatly what it saids it wrinkles but a lot of the oem pieces are more grity paint than wrinkle just a heads up

Heres a scrap piece of fiberglass I painted with two part polyurethane a few months ago. This was a test piece. The real part looked way better.

dag yo, 10 month response time. ive seen the vht stuff, it looks pretty good, the color matches well, the texture is alittle off. i would use it on small stuff, but would probably get fmic pipes powder coated

you do know that the only years that the sti manifold was powder coated is 04/05......06-07 is just regular paint look underneath the manifold it is not painted the manifold has a rough texture thats what makes it look like that

VHT wrinkle red is the ONLY way to go. There maybe other brands that offer a wrinkle red can. But none match the OEM STI wrinkle red the way VHT does. (thats a fact)

has anyone found the best solution to touching up wrinkle red? The coating on my perrin fmic pipes has been scraped off in a few places thanks to my sometimes "enthusiastic wrenching".
I've been using a red testor's paint marker but it's not even close to matching.

I recently got the VHT wrinkle Rad, and I has some about 2 years ago. But now.... the Red that VHT offers comes out as a Orange, before it was an exact color match to the OEM Subaru STi Red. I even tried 2 different stores and ordered directly off the web from a Site, still the same Orange color :(
