thanks for the help, gc8's are sooooooo much nicer than wrxs and ALWAYS will be
| Folklorez | 06-21-2003 07:51 AM |
also, a zero sports rear bumper will make the back end look aggressive.

stock yes, but ive seen tuned wrx''s that are just as or sexier thn gc8s. As long as both sides stay away from morrets or altezzas our cars look good.

Either this (STi v5/6 rear bumper w/ underspoiler and 22b wing):

or this (WRC replica bumper and WRC replica wing):

I'm gonna do the second one I think.

How much is the replica WRC rear bumper?
I think the rear for an RS definitely looks better with the red/clear tails....22b wing and WRC wing look the good...As of the rear bumper, not sure, atleast spats of some sort, but nothing to outrageous if you go with a bigger wing.

GC8 - chassis code for the old school style JDM WRX 4-door (Also slang for all old school style USDM Imprezas...like 98-01 2.5RSs)
GM8 - chassis code for the old school style JDM WRX 2-door
GF8 - chassis code for the old school style JDM WRX wagon
GM6 - chassis code for old school style 2.5RS 2-door
GC6 - chassis code for old school style 2.5RS 4-door
GDA - chassis code for New Age WRX sedan (Also used for all New Age Impreza sedans)
GGA - chassis code for New Age WRX wagon
GDB - chassis code for New Age STi sedan
GGB - chassis code for New Age STi wagon

Actually, all the non-wagon old body style JDM WRX's (pre-01) were known as GC8's. The 2-doors were just GC8 coupes. There is no such thing as a JDM GM8. That's just what we'd call it in the states based on our USDM chassis codes. That is...if we had a 2.0L turbo coupe in the states (from the factory).

Just because that's what they were known as doesnt mean thats what they were....Chassis codes are chassis codes...so a GM8 is a 2 Door WRX, example, The WRX STi Type Rs .

You're right...chassis codes are chassis codes. But the chassis codes for non-wagon JDM WRX's all started with GC8 regardless of if they were 2 or 4 doors (even the 22B). Here is a list of chassis codes:
http://www.subaru-sti.co.jp/product/impreza/list.html
For example, the WRX STi R v6 chassis code is: GC8G2FD.
If such cars were available in the states, then most likely you are right, the USDM vin plates on them would follow the USDM chassis code method.
Not to nitpick, just trying to edumucate.

anyone want to sell me their rear set ups? (wing, spats, etc..) i have a 00 BRP 2.5RS
| MiniLegs | 06-23-2003 12:03 AM |
I've always thought the older impreza's rear end was too round..I like some of the mod's that I see..
| ilmaestro | 06-26-2003 01:52 AM |
The rear spats are the number 1 thing to obtaining a mean lookin rear. Be sure to get your sideskirts painted at the same time as the spats, since they are a continuation of each other. Spats can be had for ~100 if you havn't picked them up yet. subaruwrxparts.com is one place to get them. Once you have them on, putting some performance springs in that will lower your car a bit will also make the back look better. The Eibach Prokit springs look nice, perform well, and are reasonably priced :)
