I was GOING to show you my new CF center pod.....

But apparently UPS decided to kick the living crap outta my package :( I signed for it because I was in a rush, even though the box looked bad, so Im not sure what I can do now but if I cant claim it any suggestions for repairing it?:( I bought it from an individual on the boards so its not like I can ask a vendor for a new one....
I now HATE UPS!! :furious:

| johnnyb | 04-06-2006 07:24 PM |
I just went through the same thing with a TMIC.
If you paid with a credit card:
1. Call your CC co and have the charge reversed. They should send you claim paper work and fill that out.
2. Call UPS and schedule a pick up. They will have to do a visual inspection and ship it back to the seller at no cost to you.
3. Make a copy of the UPS pick up label for your CC co if needed. UPS will give you a reciept.
4. Save all correspondence for your CC co in case they ask for it. I printed out emails.
You can blame the shipper for not packing the part properly, or UPS for beating the crap out of the box. I am not saying it was your seller's fault, but that is what happened to me. Guy packed a 30 lb TMIC in a box half full of peanuts. Idiot. Which leads me to belive the TMIC was possibly damaged before he shipped it. My seller would also not reply to emails or PMs. spyder05 = teh suck.
I think UPS will cover the product for the shipper if it was packed properly and UPS's fault.
Always pay with a credit card for this reason. I thought I was going to be out of $450 bucks.

| silver-RS | 04-06-2006 11:00 PM |
i think its kinda the shipper's fault...
best way to ship it is to wrap it in bubble wraps...
then put it in a box that's filled with those peanuts thing
he should know that carbon fiber is not UNBREAKABLE

its mostly fiberglass
Look closely at those last couple pics. Raw carbon fiber is not white and does not come apart looking like that.

yeah, thats the inner shell that holds onto the gauges themselves. The outer shell is the CF part.

wow. that totally ****ty. makes me angry how a shipping company can disrespect someone's package like that. good luck, u should sue for mental anguish!
| t3hWIT | 04-07-2006 12:07 AM |
Take it to UPS and demand reimbursement. I don't care if you got insurance or not, you paid for a service, you sure as hell should have gotten it. A crack is one thing, but that isnt just a little bit of shipping damage, there is no ****ing excuse for that.
| terror7 | 04-07-2006 12:14 AM |
hm...i think someone in UPS just jealous on you having the CF pod, so they beat the crap out of it~ (j/k)
Even though u didnt buy any insurance, it is still UPS responsible for not damage any packages.

Freight insurance ain't gonna help you there either .. epecially so if you signed for it. Sorry to hear about it ...
| Ghosthound | 04-07-2006 04:17 AM |
ups shipping has a defaul 100 dollars of insurance with shipping. ive never had a problem with any shipping company destroying my shipments, i will definitly remember this when i order something big next time.
| KnightWRX | 04-07-2006 08:48 PM |
well I filed with UPS....well see how it turns out. In the mean time, if I get to keep it, Im thinking of using the stock gauge housing and building this shell back up with fiberglass resin.
Probably turn out bad....but really how much worse could I make it.

wow that sucks. what a waste. hope u can get your money back.
| LathanM | 04-08-2006 01:01 AM |
Tough luck. Unfortunately since you signed for it and accepted the package UPS will deny your claim. I see this kind of thing every couple of months with computer parts. Once you sign on the line it is yours. Even if you are in a rush, don't sign for a damaged package. If you can open the package and inspect the parts before you sign. Most delivery guys will let you do this for obviously damaged packages.

The product was not pakced right and UPS may deny a claim due to ****ty packaging.

| WRXDriftR | 04-13-2006 02:07 AM |
yea, its not UPS fault the seller packed it up like ****.
i just bought 3 Maddad gauges and the OEM hood from across the country. UPSd it over here and everything is perfect with the proper packaging.

We've all seen this before. When I got my "CF" lip from RavSpec, they packed it like that and the box arrived looking like that. Thankfully the lip arrived undamaged, but when I resold it, I packed the hell out of the thing and shipped FedEx. UPS just doesn't care. FedEx at least tries to care.
Looks like the person who sent it didn't care either. So it was probably damaged before shipping is my guess. Otherwise, why would they ship it with no protection? If that's the case, that's called mail fraud and mail carriers don't take too kindly to it. You should be able to get your money back.

yeah thats definately not CF. It would have spider cracked but not broken apart. They just used fbglass and covered it with 1 sheet of CF. Thats why I don't understand why people pay so much for hoods fenders etc that arent even close to the value that they pay for them.
