JDM Bling! Gauging interest

Im just throwing this out there...
Is anybody interested in those jdm wrist band things that cover things? Here is one for the oil cap...to add a lil dress up to your engine. There would be a wrx one and a STI one. Before I get them embroided i'd see if anyone else wanted one.....

I have one. I think they are stupid. I got mine free, Project MU. YOu can probably go to walmart and get a set for $1 and have it do the same thing. Its suppose to keep the fluids warm  :D
| Uncle Ben | 03-23-2006 05:48 PM |
It's just a cover to help soak up spills and keep things clean... but in reality it's just another little showy thing created by aftermarket parts manufacturers to continue lightening the wallets of enthusiasts everywhere :p
| Alvin | 03-23-2006 05:51 PM |
yupp honda dudes love sportin them..
| Bbasso | 03-23-2006 06:00 PM |
They do serve a purpose, to keep the fine particles from entering thru the small gaps in the cap seal.
As for the looks... Each person is different. (to each his own)

Well my friend works for Mackin, so I know how much the Project ones cost. I tell him you can get the sweat bands at walmart cost $1 and they probably do the same thing.
: YOu can get the Power Rangers set or Ninja turtles :D
They do serve a purpose, to keep the fine particles from entering thru the small gaps in the cap seal.
....that may be their intention but I would argue the actual benefit.
| super-ru | 03-23-2006 07:02 PM |
I'd just wear it while I was driving, no sense in wasting it inside the engine bay.
| WRXSIG | 03-23-2006 07:09 PM |
I was just throwing it out...thought it would be something cool..something different. I figured it'd get a harsh response...;)
| o2sys | 03-23-2006 07:16 PM |
honda cars do this.....plus the Project Mu brake tank covner just makes it inconvienient to check the level, and well as the STI oil filler over, just would get annoying to remove and ect
| digitalboy40 | 03-23-2006 08:06 PM |
i'm gonna take a shot that their main purpose of those brake fluid reservoir covers are to soak up any brake fluid that boils over and spills out of the cap seeing as it can strip paint off of stuff.
| Hotrider | 03-23-2006 08:14 PM |
project mu cover is a very good product !!
| Handsdown | 03-23-2006 08:40 PM |
i have some in my car but not in the engine bay.
they are GREAT shift knob accessories if it's too cold or hot out and your shift knob needs something to absorb the temperature.
i started using them when i had my kartboy black knuckleball shifter in MIAMI in MAY. it was well worth the 1.31 from old navy.

| cmx168 | 03-24-2006 11:12 PM |
Whatever, they are awesome! you keep em under the hood so they keep it warm and after they're warmed up by the engine, you can put it on your wrists so your wrist can be nice n Toasty! Isn't it obvious???
| DrD | 03-24-2006 11:15 PM |
an oil cap sock?
whatever floats your boat, I suppose... maybe it will fall off, get wedged up against the exhaust manifold and catch fire... that would be cool!

FIREMAN 1: Looks like the engine fire started because of these pink oil-soaked rags that were wrapped around everything.
FIREMAN 2: Hmmm, why would he do that?
DRIVER/AMBULANCE PASSENGER: Dude <cough>, they are tyte JDM, yo! <cough cough>

I'm pretty sure my grandma has some of these... on the air freshener in the bathroom and the dish-soap bottle in the kitchen.

the project mu wrist covers remind me of free products that come from manufactures when ordering bulk items. buy a Project MU BBK for a couple thousand dollars and included are some free fluid covers, which you can turn around and sell for $50.
why don't people start selling the army figures kartboy sends you when making an order from them? :checks to see if there are any laying around:

*ding*
for the brake fluid and power steering. for some reasons on hondas the caps lock but they don't seal very good. i had the Mugen ones on mine as well (99' civic si), and they actually did keep the bay a little cleaner. without them a mixture of dust/dirt/power steering or brake fluid would always be on the reservoirs. thick too. they made a difference. and gave me 20 horsepower, rawr! i haven't noticed a need for them on my scooby though.
