JDM sidemarker sealed?

 Anyone know how long the bulbs will last, since you cant change them? thanks.
| ej20love | 01-28-2006 06:29 PM |
yeah, I want to know too!
| Sokudo | 01-28-2006 06:32 PM |
which jdm marker are we talking about here ? the oval repeaters or the the one beside the headlights ?
| Subie Gal | 01-28-2006 06:43 PM |
likely the ovals... as those are sealed.
| FAST4 | 01-28-2006 08:51 PM |
I know clear ones are sealed and ambers are not
| wrxxed | 01-28-2006 09:52 PM |
There is only 1 "side marker" the one just behind the headlight is a corner marker! I have the clear ones with an amber bulb and they are unfortunately sealed. I guess they are built to last forever! Damn Subaru.
| Tkacik | 01-28-2006 09:57 PM |
Are they LED's? If they are, they might just outlast you...
| enewtabie | 01-29-2006 12:48 AM |
I hope they last forever..lol
| piker28 | 01-29-2006 01:51 AM |
no im doubting they last forever just a bulb, i mean least my edm ones cost like nothing and easily replaced so i dont worry about when they blow out...im sure they have normal bulb lifes which is years
| NoCalSubie | 01-29-2006 02:29 AM |
Should last you a good 3+ years. If you want it to last longer just signal less.
| wrxxed | 01-29-2006 04:44 PM |
Thats the plan ,no more signaling! Mabey Ill get a ticket but Ill save $30!!

Yep, the ambers are defnitely not sealed. The SAA ones (Urban Grey) are not sealed either, and you can replace the bulbs;

I purchased mine from JapanParts.com. They're ~$53+shipping, and can be had in a variety of colors.

I'm planning to sell my set soon, as I can't use them on my Legacy.

But won't that leave a hole in the side?

Look at the vehicles under my username... I don't have the STi anymore. ;)
I found a really cheap (i.e. used) set of amber side markers and put them in the fenders before I traded the car in.

it's really not hard at all. i did my passenger side one, someone from subaru who heard i needed a dremel from this board did my driver's first.
| jcdrenguis | 02-03-2006 02:37 AM |
I also agree that the amber ones aren't sealed:

I know it would not be correct for my model (the JDM 04 - 05s have the clear), but I always thought the amber would look better on a WRB car. Just scared sh**less to mess up cutting the whole in my fender. Then there is tearing down my headlights to remove the stupid reflector (I would like to leave the amber triangle up front.
Anyone have some brass balls I can borrow for a weekend

Don't know what US suby had these oem, but Subaru carries the clear ones- part # 84401SA000- pretty reasonable too :)

Tell me where to get some Ambers for cheap, and come up to Albany and we can do it in my driveway.
I have a Dremel, a couple of nice cordless drills, and a frickin hand held saw. I also have a good selection of guns that, if the drills don't work, we can just shoot holes in the sides.
I am a good enough shot, but were going to have to test it on your car first.

What he said. You just have to dive in, and use a good template so that you won't mess up. Over all it wasn't a hard install. Just take your time and things should go smoothly.

I think www.subydude.com has the amber ones, but not idea if it is a good price or not.

$65.00
Oh word of caution to the wagon owners, they mount in a slighlty different spot than where they do on the sedans. So about boring those brass balls

Let me know if you stumble across it again. The only one I have seen is a sedan one and then somebody just eyeballed where they should be based on a picture of a JDM wagon. They looked pretty good, but if there is an actual template I would love to have it.
